CURSE YOU AMERICAN IDOL EXPERIENCE!!!

I don't care what they say! American Idol (AKA Glorified Karaoke) is replacing Fanstasmic!

Fantasmic should still be a nightly extravaganza at MGM. The park should have a night time show with pyro to wish Guests a good night. It capped the evening off for all of its fans.

American Idol is an attraction, not a way to close ones night.

Here we go Why Fantasmic is better:

  • Sits more people then American Idol
  • Disney related
  • Fans love the show
  • Little kids would enjoy the show!
Reason why Fantasmic is getting worse:

  • Limited show times
  • Many people want to see it and within an hour before show time they already have the arena full!
Reasons why American Idol is NOT better:

  • Less seats so limited amount of people (same with Fantasmic but al least more seats!)
  • Totally not related to Disney!
  • Little kids wouldn't have any interest probably
  • Worst way to end the night!

Thanks for sharing! At least the schedule is moving in the right direction, but why no Friday or Saturday [still]?

My guess is that Weekends are busy enough but having Fantasmic on weekdays only boosts attendance for those slower days.

Ill take it. but hopefully down the line itll be atleasdt 4-5 times a week again.

I assume that the reason for this is that the spring season is busier than January through February. I think that come summer, you'll see it at four or five times a week or maybe all seven by mid summer. Then if anything, you'll see it drop again for the fall.

AIE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FANTASMIC! NOT BEING OFFERED NIGHTLY!:brick:

You keep saying that and while not directly let's look at it this way...

Disney just spent tons and tons of money for the rights for merchandising and using the name of Idol, and then more money for related properties with it as well as the attraction itself with Secrest..cct. Fox got a lot of money out of the deal.

Meanwhile, American Idol is going to have a nightly Finale show from the sounds of it, as well as shows throughout the day and Fantasmic is having 3 or less in an entire week, the two are connected. Just not in an obvious way. Idol cost a lot of money, and Fantasmic was something Disney was willing to cut. And it shows here and at the parks the true opinions of what the people think in comparison.

And thank you so much Tinkrbell! I appreciate the heads up as I was still thinking/ hoping to count on Thursday.

Do you know if they will have a second Fantasmic any of those days?

Thanks.

There are 2 shows scheduled each of those nights.

It is supposed to be at 7 & 8:15 the 9th, 13th, 18th, & 19th. It is supposed to be at 7 & 8:30 the 15th. Im saying supposed to because the shows have been starting a few minutes early if the theater is full.

I believe we have had a few very reliable posters say they are not connected. I can understand how it looks, but when we have been told the exact opposite. Sometimes we need to take off our tinfoil hats.

With that said, it's good to see that Disney is listening to the wants of their guest and making adjustments.

It's my understanding that Freemantle media actually paid for the attraction itself?

What is the best way to complain to them about this? Phone, email? Anyone have a link?

OK I just complained by e-mail that too many Fantasmic shows are only going to draw people away from American Idol. Thanks for the motivation.:D

They put up a large chunk of cash, not sure how much.

What I am trying to figure out is how much of this big media whorefest is being paid for by Freemantle and how much by Disney itself ... also curious as to where they are putting their guests up. VIPs usually wind up at BW unless they request otherwise ... media has largely been at DAK Lodge for prior events, but that was pre-DVC.

Am I the only one that doesn't have a problem with this. It's off peak time and if I remember correctly they don't do spectro magic or wishes nightly. As soon as the busy season starts again I'm sure it will return nightly.

Besides maybe with some of the doe they save it can go towards plusing or creating new attractions. That is probaly very naieve of me.

According to the UK website calendar (cause the US one sucks), Fantasmic will be shown twice a night during Spring Break 4/6-4/11/09.

Guess that is because crowds will be very heavy.

I for one, will not waste my time with Idol.

This is the slow time and on the days that Fantasmic is playing the Studios is a madhouse. Sometimes the line to get in for Fantasmic went from the Hollywood Hills entrance all the way to the Hat. If this is the slow time just wait till the busy time. The line at guest relations of guests complaining will grow even longer.
