Trip Report Family Fun in the Hot, Hot Florida Sun!!

Hello All!! I'm back(unfortunately) from yet another wonderful trip to Walt Disney World. Lot's of fun & sweat(not trying to be gross but wow, was it ever nasty) was had by all!! Speaking of all--let me introduce you to our party of 10!! Most of these faces will be familiar to you but there are a few new ones in the mix!! I'll try to do this as simply as possible--
455035665.jpeg

From left to right(somewhat): My sister C, my niece E(C & D's daughter), R(not sure why he's looking so miserable) & myself, in front of me(white shirt) is my niece B, in the green is E's niece L, my niece A(C & D's youngest) is wearing the blue glasses(when she remembers to put them on--her last trip to Disney prior to this one she actually left them at homeo_O), then we have "the same old crew" E & J, and last but certainly not least is my BIL D.
Whew--I'm glad you've met most of these people in the past--otherwise this could get very confusing!!:p

C's family was there June 13th-27th. They stayed the first week at their timeshare right outside of Disney. They spent their second week at our favorite home away from home. The rest of us were there June 18th-25th.

I'm looking forward to reliving the trip with you all--everything but the heat that is!! A big welcome to everyone reading out there!!:)

I take it that Tom came back and took E's order. :hilarious: Also I noticed that J was seriously eyeing that glow cube in her drink. :hilarious: Did he ever end up with it?
Yes!! He was so funny!! I would be thrilled to have him as our server again!!
I'm not really sure if he did or not but if I had to guess I would say yes! I can't see him letting us leave without it!!
J and I have the same cupcake eating style!
I don't blame either of you--the icing is the best part!!

Love the Mom's favorite shirts and the story behind it.
We do not have a Wahlburgers here, but I grew era of Marky Mark and NKOTB and loved them.
My husband I also watch the show and have been wanting to eat there for awhile now.
Last week we were in Orange Beach, AL and I finally got to visit a Wahlburgers. We loved it.
My husband bought me this shirt as a surprise. I took a selfie in and sent it to my Mom and brother.
Mom replied back that she has no favorites and I never got a response from my bro! :joyfull:

Thanks!! It was pretty funny!!
R loves it there so we probably go there once a month. He really likes the Sloppy Joe. Fun fact--a waitress there told me that they never play any NKOTB music there!! I thought that was really bizarre!! I would almost think you would hear more of that than anything but it's the exact opposite!!
Haha--I love it!! Glad to see someone else having fun with that shirt!!

That is a fun fact. I didn't even notice music, but I did like the old pictures of the family. I thought that was neat.
I had one of the Burger Bowls and I had to go home and replicate the Ranch w/Dill...so good. I've been eating it all week.
My son was pumped that he could get bacon on his grilled cheese.
One funny thing is that our waitress went on and on about how we had to try Paul's special sauce so she brought us a sample
and it tastes EXACTLY like the sauce we make for crawfish boils. So we got a kick out of that.

Anyway...enjoying your report!

Yes, the pictures are pretty neat!! I usually get the Portobello sandwich or the Cobb salad. They're both pretty good! I can see why your son would be excited--bacon on grilled cheese is great! That's funny--did you tell her that?
Thanks so much!!
A really GREAT :D trip report, with plenty of Family smiles :) thru showers & sunshine.
Awww--thank you very much!! Gotta keep on smiling!! You can't change the weather & hey--you're in Disney, how can you not smile!!:)
Looking back on it we spent more time at POR than we normally do which was fine with me b/c I love it there so much! We needed to find the right balance between going to the parks & hanging out at the pool to take it easy. I would say for the kids but us adults needed it too. Being in that heat for that long can wear you down!
It IS the best part ... of North American cupcakes (or even full-sized cakes). Unfortunately they just don’t know how to do good icing in Europe 😕
That's too bad!! I recall you having said that once before. I guess it hasn't changed then?:(
My daughter hates all things potato, which includes fries. She will eat potato chips, but if it resembles or tastes at all like actual potato, it’s a no-go.
My brother was the same way. Potato chips but nothing else. As he got older he grew out of that though!

On Thursday while hard at work I checked my personal email:p(in all fairness some work things come to that email). I see that at 11:02 I got the email invite for the Star Wars Passholder Preview. It was 11:04 so I thought there might be a chance so I tried to register. Stitch ate the page more times than I could count & I kept "waiting in line" forever. Don't worry--I worked while all this was going on:D I wasn't really concerned if I got it or not b/c I haven't as much as seen a Star Wars movie a day in my life. I looked at it as getting it would be an excuse to have to go to Disney;) At one point I saw something on the screen that I hadn't seen before & I got a little excited. Finally, at 12:25 E, J & I were registered for the event!!

I called E and she told me she didn't think they were going to go. I figured I would go by myself for a super short trip so I started looking up flights & room rates. I was ok with going by myself but I wasn't totally thrilled. As the day went on I kept thinking about how disappointed I was that J wouldn't be there. The heck with my sister but I knew I would miss him!! That evening she was at my house & as I was sneaking J Skittles & jelly beans🤫 it took all it had in me to keep my mouth shut. I wanted so bad to plant a bug in his ear about being able to go to SWGE & hoped he would work on his mom. But, I kept quiet b/c I didn't want him to be disappointed about not being able to go.

On our walk yesterday morning I brought it up again. I mentioned what I was seeing for room rates & flight times. She didn't want to spend a lot of money b/c we were just there & we're going again for a week in November. She said that maybe her & I could go for just one night and she would leave J at home. I wasn't going to let that happen! I said that I thought his feelings would be hurt & he was too young to understand why we wouldn't take him. She said it would be easier since we would really be on the move with such a short time frame. We're also limited to what flights we can take with him. She doesn't like taking real early or late flights with him which I get but they are usually the cheaper ones so it would cost even more if he came. We started talking about how many flight points we have & we all had enough for free flights. I told her there is a flight that leaves at 1:00 Tuesday afternoon & one that comes back at 2:00 on Thursday. We would be there less than 48 hours but something is better than nothing. I told her that we could stay at one of the All Stars or AoA to save a few dollars since it would be a short trip & we wouldn't be at the resort that much(even though it about killed me to utter those words!)

Within an hour of getting home from our walk while getting ready for work & having a few phone conversations with her we had everything booked--airfare, hotel & FP's!! We're going to Disney--in 24 days!!😍 There's not even enough time to order Magic Bands--not like we don't have a few spare ones laying around!! We will only have time to go to 3 parks. HS & MK are a given. I told E to let J pick the 3rd & he chose Epcot.

I'm so excited that we're ALL going!!

MONDAY, JUNE 24TH

We headed out at 6 for our daily walk. For some reason this is the only picture I took that morning.
IMG_2189.JPEG

I was starting to feel a bit sad b/c I knew our walks there were coming to an end.
IMG_2190.PNG

Then I got really sad when I came back to find this.
IMG_2191.JPEG

Here was something I have been wanting to do for quite some time. My SIL used to do yoga years ago & wants to get back into it. I have never tried it but wanted to. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try it & see if I liked it.
IMG_2192.JPEG

I didn't get any pictures with the mats set up(I took these after) but the area where the lounge chairs are is where they have it at.
IMG_2193.JPEG

I got there early since it was limited to 20 people. For the longest time I thought it was going to be just me b/c nobody else was there. The instructor said we should get started. Then another woman showed up. We talked for a bit at the end. She was from San Diego & couldn't believe what the weather was like there in Florida. It was very nice talking to her.
IMG_2194.JPEG

My thoughts on yoga: IT KICKED MY BUTT!! I knew I was out of shape but didn't realize I was as bad as I am. I used muscles that I probably haven't used in years. At certain points I could feel certain parts of my body shaking if that makes any sense. I was dripping with sweat. I'm sure the heat had something to do with it but this was worse than normal. Since my watch wasn't working I didn't know what time it was & there were moments I was praying that it was almost over. But, with all that being said, I would do it again in a heartbeat!! I'm looking to see where my SIL & I would like to go around here. I had asked E & C if they wanted to come to it that morning & they both declined. C said she thinks it's pointless & what could you really get out of it. Oh, how wrong she is!!

We got to MK around 10:00.
IMG_2196.JPEG

And headed right to SM for our first FP. E & J passed & I believe they went to Starbucks.
IMG_2197.JPEG

We were sent to the Alpha track.

Here we go!!

MONDAY, JUNE 24TH

After SM we had to stop for a few minutes. There was an issue at work that I needed to attend to. It was easier for me to Facetime them so I could see the computer screen firsthand & know what was going on. For whatever reason my phone wouldn't let me Facetime so I had to use E's. I have had more problems than you can imagine with my last two phones but that is another story.....

J was getting bored while I was busy solving the world's(at least my world) problems.
IMG_2199.JPEG

IMG_2200.JPEG

Time to use our Buzz FP--oh wait, I mean Slooooooow Pass. The FP line was absolutely insane--as it always seems to be. Why is that??
IMG_2201.JPEG

IMG_2202.JPEG

Another failed attempt at being a galactic hero....
IMG_2203.JPEG

The lovely ride photos!!
458878924.jpeg

About halfway through the ride it stopped momentarily & R took that opportunity to ask me what he was supposed to be aiming at!!:banghead:
I guess it was his first rodeo.....
458881082.jpeg

458881698.jpeg

R suggested we take a break from the heat. We all were in agreement.

Time for lunch!! All's good b/c I was able to mobile order!!
IMG_2205.PNG

R had the Chili-Cheese Hot Dog, B had the Corn Dog Nuggets & I went with the Jalapeno Popper Diggity Dog. I love spicy foods so that was right up my alley. What wasn't up my alley was the amount of calories in that thing!! Besides the poppers on top of it there was some kind of cheese sauce on it & a white sauce. It was good though & I ate every last bite!! Now B, on the other hand......
IMG_2206.JPEG

R was edging J on to feed the ducks even though everyone knows that is a big no-no. What's J going to do though--listen to R, of course.
That caused B to get upset b/c the ducks wouldn't leave our area then. She is afraid of ducks so she wouldn't even sit down at the table for fear that they were going to come by her. She stood the whole time & kept moving around anytime one would come even remotely near her. There went her lunch....
IMG_2207.JPEG

@DisneyGigi I thought you might like this picture!!
IMG_2210.JPEG

The rest of the family arrived while we were eating lunch. After that it was time for our Mine Train FP!!

458968803.jpeg

There's only 5 of us in the photos. Not sure why🤔
458969406.jpeg

458969582.jpeg

We got stopped at the end of the ride. We sat there for about 5 minutes but in that heat it felt like 5 hours!! It was brutal!!

Normally this section of Fantasyland always seems so crowded--not today though. I think everyone was trying to hide from the heat!
IMG_2214.JPEG

No one needed the restrooms it was so hot!
IMG_2215.JPEG

Time to fly with Peter Pan!!
IMG_2216.JPEG

Time to cool off with Mickey & his orchestra!!
IMG_2220.JPEG

Kids!! I swear theses two feed off each other!!
IMG_2222.JPEG

IMG_2416.JPG

I was surprised that J already had his glasses on. Normally, he doesn't like to wear them at all!
IMG_2224.JPEG

We got a FP for PotC. It must have been down for quite awhile b/c the FP line.....
IMG_2225.JPEG

......stretched into Frontierland!! This photo doesn't even show what the extent of that line really was! At that point pretty much everyone was throwing in the towel & wanted out of the heat for good. A few of us decided to stick it out. L really wanted to ride. B was super excited to ride b/c the only other time she was on it was when she was little. She was around 3 or 4 at the time so she didn't remember it in the least. Since then every time she came to WDW it was either closed for refurbishment or it was down. R stayed with us. The rest of the group left in search of a/c & beverages.
IMG_2226.JPEG

All in all it wasn't that bad. We got in line at 2:11 & were getting on the ride at 2:27.
459067199.jpeg

In case you were wondering where R was he stepped out of line to get a drink & ended up waiting longer for his drink than we did in the FP line. He missed the ride!!

Love my Disney ducks! 😍 I know they can be pests but I adore them. (I blame my dad for taking mine away lol)
On the yoga- know what ya mean. I did a cardio 2 hour class with my son’s Tae Kwon Do instructor, who is insane... (workout wise) and I hung my head out the whole ride home. My arms and legs felt like noodles they were so shaky.
If you are still there when I get there- in 27 days... look for us!!
Edit, I see you are not going to be. :( Have fun though!!
