Mine isn't, but I will say my teen daughter and her friends appear to use Snapchat and Instagram more than than Facebook....

Personally, my use fluctuates, but I definitely don't go on there as much as I use to. There are only so many inspirational quotes and political rants that one person can consume in a day. After a while, Facebook is an annoying bore. Plus, I have always felt that the way Facebook gathers and uses your activity is pretty suspect. But I suppose the genie is already way out of the bottle on that concern.

If Facebook would do more to control the garbage that gets posted on it I would use it more. I don't care how many points my friends scored on Candy Crush nor how their FarmVille game is going nor who comments on some news article. Plus I find the privacy and security controls way too confusing and cumbersome. And just when you learn it they change it all up again.

I've only had Facebook since June. I use it for keeping in touch with relatives and looking at pictures of kittens. Other than WDW forums such as this one and a few teen sites, it's the only social media site I use, and the only site I use that I'm willing to use my full name.

I don't have a Facebook account & didn't plan on making one until maybe, now. My older DD moved to SC 2 months ago & I could probably keep in touch with her more on there!

I get so tired of people that repost every blessed thing they see. I like to hear news from them, but I don't care about how they feel about Soldiers, Politician, recipes, dead relatives and said relatives specific angel status, that they love their spouses, children, dogs, cats, mice, etc. Yes, I know you have had it rough and have come through it stronger and better. You really don't need to tell me everyday how cruel the world is to you, but, you just get back up again.
I go on there to see if my daughters, or close friends have posted anything and I have to immediately sort through a gazillion uninspirational, non-original, corny, electronic Hallmark Cards to get to anything I want to see. But what upsets me the most is when I request that I not see that particular post, the next time I sign on, there it is again. If you aren't going to hide it, why ask me if that's what I want.

Facebook is nice if you need to get a hold of someone that you normally don't talk to. It keeps you updated on what's going on with who. However, I think Twitter and other social media sites are taking a lot of the buzz away from Facebook. I only have a Facebook account and not Twitter, Instagram, etc. I don't post a lot, but I do read the newsfeed quite a bit to see what's up. I have a feeling that in a few years, Facebook will go the path of Myspace, and eventually Twitter will do the same. I know a lot of my Facebook friends will log on only once a month or so.

While I don't use it as much as I did, say back in 2008/2009, I still log on multiple times per day. I do get annoyed over the same kinds of posts others have noted, but I also do use it to keep in touch with people.
My use really varies, but I go on at least once a day to message a friend from high school/middle school, I post updates and pics of my kids for family (including my parents) - since none of them live locally
, I know my MIL is more likely to get my msgs if I contact her via FB (vs email), I keep up with a local friend who's stuck at home due to some nasty medical treatments, and a bunch of my college friends have started using FB to coordinate fun/casual reunions and get-togethers. Thanks to FB, I got to spend a great weekend with old friends that I haven't seen in nearly 20 years.

It's on the rise with people 30 + but dropping quickly with teens and 20s. Makes sense why would a teen want to use what their parents are using - same thing happened with MySpace.

The interesting thing, I think, about that article is that supposedly even the teens interviewed admitted that Facebook was more functional than Twitter, Snapchat, etc. Pretty much everyone is on Facebook, so I think that critical mass will keep it rolling in some way for a long time. The way people use it will evolve. It started as a college thing; maybe it will head back towards being something you start in college and keep throughout adulthood, rather than signing up as soon as you turn 13.

I am 26. I remember the good ole days when facebook was for and only for college students. My log on to this day involves my ".EDU" email. Back then it was only for "us". Now grandma, mom, dad, sister, cousin and sadly....kids are on it. Its ridiculous. Kids shouldn't be on this. They should be outside.
Again, I am 26....not old.....but christmas afternoon my son went outside to enjoy his new razor scooter, and there was LITERALLY no one outside. Not one kid on a bike, no skateboards, no skates......nothing. I couldnt believe it. Is EVERYONE getting ps4's and ipads now?! It was a sad sight to see. Wall-E is getting more and more closer to reality.

Exactly. In social media circles, this is a known phenomenon. FB is trying so hard to monetize every aspect of the UX as they become less relevant. There are too many competing channels that drive info to the individual, they can only handle so much of it and FB is the next casualty. Sure they have a lot of users and likes and so on. But it is not what is was nor are the growth rates what they were.

No FB. FB & I mutually hate each other. It's not secure so they can go take a flying leap. Of my family of 4 including a 17 & 16 yro only the youngest has a FB. My oldest son refuses. My brother tells me I'm antisocial because I refuse to join FB & keep in touch with childhood/school friends. Well, if I've not been in touch with these people for 20-30 years there's prob'ly a reason for that. Duh. I have a busy enough life. Ain't nobody got time for that. Sorry.
