Alright, this is crazy. I think I'm fully caught up. So earlier I said that it seemed Spirit was Gary Snyder. After reading several posts, particularly
@flynnibus , it seems Spirit is Michael Snyder (Gary's brother). This actually is supported by
@WDW1974's posting history...

@RSoxNo1 earlier in this thread,
@WDW1974 discussing Gary Snyder and his Shanghai article. Read the following post as if Michael (Spirit) is talking about his brother in vague terms:
And you really think people in a position/role like Gary Snyder feel that they have to explain anything?
And did you get the idea that he was a writer by profession? Because I didn't, and my research has proven that not to be the case. He wrote a total of four Op-Eds for the HuffPo over a period of almost a year. That doesn't say writer to me. And since I've been a writer, I sorta do know what I am speaking of.
Gary made the claim that he had met with George, but Michael has made that same claim here:
I recall being with George Kalogridis in November of 2001 walking from DD to the PPH and him telling me point blank that I was in the safest place in SoCal, almost on queue about half a dozen military copters flew overhead. I always see them (or hear them now) out there. The 'excuse' is the closeness of major military installations like Camp Pendleton. The thing is, those installations were there back in the 90s and I never heard or saw military aircraft flying over Anaheim.
So how could Gary and Michael have both managed to have lunch with George at DCA?
"One anecdote that I shared with @@Lee earlier and I sorta feel like it belongs here.
In Nov. 2001, I paid my first post 9/11 visit to DLR. One afternoon I was having lunch with George Kalogridis and a friend in media and talk went from plans for DCA's first holiday season and the new Luminaria show to the state of constant fear our nation had been under.

Ever heard of a company called IQT? Me neither. At least not until I did some research on NGE (hey, @Jason Garcia maybe you might want to do likewise instead of appearing on fanboi podcasts!) after receiving the information I posted a few days ago here. In 1998, CIA identified technology as a...

Who's the "friend in the media?" Gary, who has a history of working as a media consultant. The event probably went something like this...
George, in the midst of a full blown crisis after Disney's California Adventure' embarrassing opening, needs help. In a moment of desperation, he remembers that one of the journalists who covers theme parks, Michael Snyder (who would become Spirit), has a brother that is a big Disney fan and a media consultant. George had met Gary previously at the Epcot millennial celebration. I'm guessing Gary was Michael's plus one to the event, and George had found him interesting. A friendship was sparked, and George felt comfortable asking Gary to a luxurious dinner at the restaurant that would become Flame Jumpers Grill in DCA.
Michael (Spirit), puts George in contact with Gary, and the three meet up at Condor Flats (RIP). That must have been an interesting lunch. George is desperate for help in turning around the narrative. Gary gives him the advice that he repeats in the article. Instead of trying to fight Lutz or close off every leak, he should just leak to Lutz himself. One method of dealing with predatory animals who prey on valuable livestock (or even people) is to offer them up something easier. Predators are actually lazy. Lutz wanted information, and instead of searching for it, it could be handed to him on a silver platter. Look back at MiceChat articles. They often portray one group of people as amazing and beloved executives, and another group of people as evil.
Look how this one targets Christie Fleischer, an outsider who could threaten the power of the establishment at TDA:
It’s been a week since Disneyland shut down five attractions from the 1950’s to begin the massive construction on the biggest expansion of the park in its 60 year history. While fleets of bulldozers, dump

Or how Mary Niven is "a smart choice."
The MiceAge Disneyland Rumor Update brings news of Star Wars, Marvel, and massive executive changes to the happiest place on earth.

There is more of that where these two came from. Clearly certain executives have used Lutz and other commentators to their advantage, by casting some as unqualified and others as amazing. That's not to say there's no truth behind any of the assertions. Christie had no park experience, but it can't help but feel like office politics in the public.
Gary helped craft this strategy, and instructed George to view online commentators as assets and not enemies. Sage wisdom. This conversation at DCA also broached subjects such as the definition of a "local," security, and performance of Disney's California Adventure.
So Gary, is Michael or Spirit's brother, but they both share a common interest in Disney Parks. They also both know George K. personally and attended a strategy session with him. Apparently both brothers came away unimpressed with George's capabilities. Spirit describes him as more sure of his brains than he should be, and someone who cares about guests secondary to profits. There was a falling out sometime after this lunch, and the brothers and George haven't spoken recently.
All of this sounds mighty believable. If the above story is where it ended, I would have no difficulty in believing the entire piece. But it doesn't end there. This is not a B level executive, so far down the org chart that the CEO would be pressed to know his name, asking a journalist to put him in contact with a media consultant. No, this then gets tied to the highest levels of the Walt Disney Company.
The biggest red flag with this story is the idea that Zenia Mucha is deeply involved with the PR of the division formerly known as Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. If I had to hazard a guess, Zenia may receive a weekly update from them on progress. In certain cases she really may dive in if there's an issue, but she probably cares about Parks and Resorts as much as Bob Iger- which is to say not very much. Her using the Disneyland fanbase to turn everyone against Eisner is difficult fathom. It seems even more strange that she would use Lutz to destroy Chapek when she has bigger things to worry about (#boycottmulan).
With that said, being honest, there could be something to her helping to depose Eisner. Zenia was head of corporate communications during Save Disney. During her tenure, some of the worst corporate communications ever to occur in the modern world happened. Like it's hard to describe how horribly the Save Disney stuff was handled. A GRASS ROOTS movement was able to unseat a storied CEO. It's ridiculous and bizarre. Yet who still sits by Iger's side? Zenia. One would think a terrible executive would have been eliminated, but instead she has sat loyally by his side for more than a decade. Why?
@TP2000 stuff just gets really odd. There's innuendo and threats happening at the Disneyland board right now. I really hope
@TP2000 isn't a Zenia plant- I find him amusing and charming! Though in all honesty, it may actually make him more amusing and charming if he was part of a conspiracy. If anyone was, it would be TP!
One last thought... Would Eisner know the Snyders? And would Eisner hold a grudge against Iger for deposing him?
Just a thought...
Edit: I wanted to add that Spirit used to go by MSS on a different chat. MS are the initials for Michael Snyder. Coincidence?
