[I know there's a lot of negativity. bitterness, and my opinion is better than you're opinion out there, and I fully endorse the power of negative thinking, but I'd just like to start a thread that I'm laying the groundwork here for: No dissing of anything. At all. I know some people don't care for Everest, and that's alright with me, just keep it out of this thread. Go take a breather and vent in one of the five hundred "Everything is broken Threads", 'kay? Won't you, thank you?]

On January 16th, 2006, the first Expedition to Everest began. We're now here Five Climbing Seasons later, and literally millions have passed through Serka Zong to experience Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, and still remains the most expensive attraction ever built at Walt Disney World, and after Five Years, has become an Animal Kingdom classic, and one of the most visted attractions of all four parks. There's been a lot of ups, and alot of downs in the five year's we've came to the Mountain, but still the fundementals of what makes Expedition Everest such a great attraction has come through: A thrilling experience, a legendary story, and the vista of one of the most beautiful places in the world: The Himalayas.

And one thing will never change: As long as the Forbidden Mountain, and that looming peak of Mt. Everest stands always in the distance, we will continue to make that long perlious cross across the chasm along that icy iron trestle, up to the Roof of the World.

Now feel free to share ALL your Expedition's tales and photos from Forbidden Mountain, as from January 16th to April 22nd we celebrate Five Years of EXPEDITION EVEREST: LEGEND OF THE FORBIDDEN MOUNTAIN!

It definitely is a great ride. This past year was the first time I had the opportunity to ride it, and I loved it. It was a hit with the entire group of 13 we travelled with in March and was still one of our favorites after the Christmas trip we just took.

I know there has been a lot of threads and discussion about the Yeti not working properly, and having never seen it fully functional, I guess I cannot comment on that, however, the attraction itself is amazing. I look forward to riding it again whenever I go back.

Five years... Has it really been that long? :lookaroun

:sohappy::sohappy::D:D

No, I don't have any truly interesting tales to tell. Except of this one time when this bizarre brown blur suddenly swung his claws out of nowhere on one of my first expeditions. Alas, I haven't seen such a peculiar sight again. Only of flashes and almost strobe-like movements in the inky darkness, do I see something angry... restless... waiting there.

Rode EE for the 1st time this past July and LOVED it! And to experience it in a new way it has to be done at night, it is simply amazing and fun:sohappy:

EE is a great ride. I rode it with all the bells and whistles working properly, which sadly now something or another is always down.

Truly a fun story and ride when its working properly. I rode it when it was fully operational, and it doesn't seem the same without the full immersion of the story and effects. Perhaps one day.......

Isnt that 4 years????

Did the Yeti designers use this math system?

:animwink:

January 2006

January 2007

January 2008

January 2009

January 2010

I'm counting This as the fifth January, and as the Fifth year of operation. 2010 will be the fifth year of Expedition Everest. 2006 was the first, 2007 the second, 2008 the third, 2009 the fourth, and 2010 the fifth. You could calculate it to come out as four, but realistically it's the fifth year you can ride Expedition Everest.

Hard to believe that it has been open for that long. Seems like only yesterday that it was a mass of twisted steel girders. Before we know it he will be dating and be making little mountains of his own.

Hong Kong Disneyland is getting a very pathetic little mountain-esque ride with no real mountain, that features Everest's ride system, does that count?

I'm horrible at math. Isn't this only it's 4 year anniversary?
Think of the years like buckets. Every bucket holds 365 drops. Once you fill up a bucket you move onto the next one. E:E just filled up their 4th bucket and now is onto its 5th bucket.....event though that that 5th bucket only has a few drops in it it is still there. Same logic will work for centuries hence we are in the 21st century.
