Well happy anniversary EE!
My story goes as this…wife and I are on our vacation in May. EE has just opened that year. We arrive at AK in the afternoon and she looks at the huge mountain hill and says I’m not sure about this. For months leading up to our vacation we’ve downloaded very video we could find that folks shot and posted on all the popular video sites of this attraction. And we reviewed each year’s vacation tape where we had some long shots of the construction of the mountain. So we are here and ready…well not so ready. Basically I have to ride it first alone to give her the feedback if I think she will like it. OK. I get into the single rider line and in 15 mins I’m off it and come out all smiles. It was awesome! I tell her she will be fine since there is really only 1 hill and that since she likes the Aerosmith Rock’n Coaster in MGM it will be fine. After 10 mins she is still on the fence. She says ok and we walk to the line but the stand by line monitor says it’s a 65min wait. NOPE! She does not want to wait that long. So we will come back another day on our vacation when the line is shorter. Knowing she will like it we start to walk away and I feel a bit let down. BUT as we are walking away and a lady comes up to us with 2 fast passes to EE and would you folks want these…we are leaving and we can’t use them. SURE! So we grab the passes and thank her very much. My wife is now getting cold feet…but I said what luck is this!?!?! You have to ride it now – we got these passes! So we get in line and in 10 mins we are mid train getting ready for our first EE ride together.
She loved it! Came off it all excited for our next day visit at AK to ride it again. I think during that first year we hit it 6 times! Both purchased the shirts from it, I got a polo type and she got a tank top in the same color from the ride. She did admit that she had a slight head-ache, I think from the backwards movement but all in all she/WE love the ride. Even as it has become less “yeti” scary over the years this attraction has been open we still venture back to AK to ride it and dinosaur. Past that AK has nothing for us.
We are going back to the world in May 2010 again and will likely ride it at least 2 to 3 times per our stay.
Again, happy anniversary EE!
And on a closing note I do wish that they would not cheapen the polo shirts for the rides. I’ve got a nice collection per every first year open of a ride. Once that happens seems Disney goes cheap and only sells low quality shirts. AND its’ always nice to have a set of FP’s give to you from folks you don’t even know. It’s happened to us many many times; total strangers just approach and ask if you want them. I don’t think in the past 5 years that we have been visiting WDW that it’s not happened at least 2 or 3 times while we are on vacation. We always take them and thank them for the passes. That’s the 1 thing that separates the world from any other place…the kindness of total strangers.
