well we don't need any other threads catching up, i wonder what thread would be next? This thread will be turning 10 years old in 4 months making this the longest running thread on the site.
"The Yeti Broke Again, When Fix?"well we don't need any other threads catching up, i wonder what thread would be next?
Indeed, it's sad how much went in to creating the environment, setting the scene and telling the story, but is now lost and forgotten, in what might as well just be another good roller coaster around a mountain.IIRC the misters had to be turned off because the constant dampness was causing track problems.
Well, I know ... but today there are anti-corrosion treatments, which with a simple maintenance could allow the effect to continue, you just have to see the Hogwart train in the Universal Studio ... how much smoke. See video from minute 3:00
I don't remember that episode. Do you have it?I still remember how big of a deal it was when the Yeti was still working. The moving Yeti and the attraction itself was even featured on an episode of the PBS series Fetch With Ruff Ruff Men.
I don't have the episode but I remember seeing that episode air a few times on PBS Kids Go a few years ago. The kids were even taken backstage to learn how the effects worked.I don't remember that episode. Do you have it?
Here we go. took a lot of digging, but alas!
Starts at the 5:00 mark.
nothing
Would flip-flopping the two show scenes (1) projected shadow yeti 2) AA yeti) make a better attraction?
I always thought the Yeti AA would be more impactful, if seen mid-ride. Not to mention the extended time it would allow riders to see him vs the current blink and you miss it. I know from a story standpoint it probably makes more sense to have the AA as the grand finale scene but an argument could be made that the yeti chasing after the train riders and ripping up the track at the end of the ride would make a more poignant (Yeti get's his revenge) ending.
On a unrelated note: If Disney is struggling to get this guy in A mode again because of limited funding; I can think of a well-known Tumbler Cups and Coolers company that can sponsor the ride.
I've had an idea for that scene in a notebook for a while, here it is: Train arrives after going backwards. You hear/ feel the yeti moving around you (Sound/wind FX). Then, just as you're about to roll forward, a smaller yeti AA lights up and takes a swipe at you. Then at the end, you see the big yeti. This would make it feel more like the yeti is making one last attempt to grab you before you leave his territory.Would flip-flopping the two show scenes (1) projected shadow yeti 2) AA yeti) make a better attraction?
