Expedition Everest drop, in excess of 100ft!

So is there no possibility that the 112' could be the LENGTH of the track and not the HEIGHT of the drop?

I mean, I doubt that's the case myself. Just throwing another possibility out there.

You mean the length of the drop? It's unlikely that Disney would mess up the statistics by saying the drop is 112 ft long. Every drop is measured from the top to bottom.

I know that. But if Disney wanted to make this thing sound extreme... ish.

My theory: The construction guys messed up and it turns out the track didn't connect so they had to fabricate new track to make the two meet up. Probably means the track isn't very smooth between the two...but whatever, just makes it feel more dangerous.

And yes, I'm joking. :p

And for those saying they won't ride now, going down that drop at 50-55 mph, an extra 30 feet is maybe 1 second on the way down? Been awhile since I took physics...

I don't care whether its an 80' drop or 112' (or somewhere in between) - the ride looks cool and I'm really looking forward to riding it next year

Sure :)

- Walt Disney Imagineering (3 individuals)
- Walt Disney World Media Relations
Those sources are solid enough for me. See you guys at the bottom of the 112' drop around February.

Wow....how exciting is that....I do feel bad for the new guy who claimed that last week...someone owes him an apology!!!

The new guy did not claim that. He claimed it was 200ft.

55mph, no?

No the max speed is 50mph according to official figures released yesterday. I dont think the speed has ever really changed, I've had that figure since May 2003.

I forget who quoted 55, it was someone that we "trust" around here though, I believe. Don't want to say any names because I hate misquoting people. I think it was one of the people "in the know" though.

But if Media Relations says it 50, then its 50.

yes, and hopefully Media Relations is smarter then the people over at customer service that thought i had 4 heads when i requested to purchase the HCOE double cd........ 4 days after it was released, then they sent me the Magic Kingdom preview DVD. it was corrected, and that DVD stinks.

well, after reading 8 pages, 1 cup of coffee, i feel more informed and more curious. a bad combination.

News into me today tells us we have been wrong on major elements of Everest. We have long thought that the drop would be in the region of 80ft. The final footage count is 112 feet!! :-D :sohappy:

:lookaroun :lookaroun :lookaroun Now I'm not sure if I'm gonna go on it!:hammer:

Its not much of a difference. Maybe 2 seconds. If you didn't know the height, you would ride it.
