Expedition Everest drop, in excess of 100ft!

From RCDB.com (http://rcdb.com/id2389.htm):

Height: 112'
Drop: 80'

I don't know how the numbers could drastically change at this point. With the degree of accuracy that has gone into planning and constructing EE.

I'd like to know who sent Steve that message. I think they may have their numbers wrong. I also think that 100 feet would be a mental barrier that would cause people to think "oh man, 100 foot drop. I don't wanna go on that" whereas 80 feet doesn't sound too bad.

Ok, so if its an extra 15feet, that could make the drop 95ft or so once it exits the mountain, and since we can't see inside, it would be possible that it has another 20 feet of drop inside.
That sounds feasible.

im convinced that 1/3 of that is in a helix. From the construction photos it only seemed like 80 feet till it entered the turn so thats probably where the extra came from. Im still kind of let down that it is a big train, i was under the impression that they would be smaller to make the encounter with the yeti a little more personal.

Actually, you can't see parts of the main drop because it comes out of the mountain.

I don't think the physical heights of the ride has changed but it is possible that Disney might use some creative math to make the ride seem a little more extreme, much like Trump did on Trump tower to add stories onto the building height.

This made me smile.

Some old predictions:

12 March 1999: The name of the stand up coaster is possibly to be "Dare the Dragon". It was previously rumoured to be Dragon's Tower. Neither name has been confirmed.

3 February 1999: There are strong rumours that indicate the thrill ride at Beastly Kingdom will be an Intamin Stand Up Coaster, with multiple inversions, a sound track and heavy theming including audio-animatronics.

5, December 1998: Looks like Beastly Kingdom is back on. Rumours suggest ground clearing is to begin and the area is to include at least 1 major thrill ride and 2 other rides.

News into me today tells us we have been wrong on major elements of Everest. We have long thought that the drop would be in the region of 80ft. The final footage count is 112 feet!! :-D :sohappy:

Can you tell us your source?

Lee is there a helix or turn heading into the drop? Or does it just turn around and go down straight? Or can you not say ...

The drop is right after the second dead end.

Over simplified, but kinda like this:
Lift - left turn - hill to broken track - backwards thruogh switch - upwards helix - up the second hill to broken track - down through switch - drop out front of the mountain.

I'm not at my computer right now, but when I get there I'll check and see if the drop through the switch and into the main drop are connected enough to be called one drop. That would account for the extra 32'.

In the facts section, Steve has EE listed at about a mile of track(5400 ft). Is this also true as well?

I'm really baffled... Should you care for the opinion of a teen, or do you trust Steve???

I won't take you up for a "Who's right or who's wrong" thread...

Steve's right... if that's not enough for you... jeez!!!

What Steve posted on the site looks very much like something promotional, but only he knows for certain -- if even. Again, I'd not be surprised to see that the 112' number is a marketing error.

That same piece lists the length as "close to a mile," so 5400' sounds accurate. It is remarkably long and I'm surprised, honestly, but it's a bit harder to screw up that number. :)

Lee -- uh, any chance I can see a screenshot? :)

I'm not saying either is right or wrong. It's just that WDWScottieBoy heard it from an "Animal Kingdom Manager" who should be pretty accurate.
