Expedition Everest broken track effect removed?

It has not been taken down for a major refurb. I can't give answers to your questions, but I'd say you were on a good track.

Can you confirm that the problem is related to the foundation or infrastructure, or is it the Yeti itself?

Joe doesn't like his park having a half-working attraction anymore than you do.

I read somewhere somewhat recently that Joe did in fact suggest that there is a plan to 'eventually' fix the Yeti. Guessing that it will happen during the 1st major refurb of EE which I am guessing won't happen until after Avatar is opened.

It was last August at the D23 expo where Joe is quoted as saying: “It’s very complicated to work on, we are working on it… I will fix the Yeti someday, I swear.”
Vague, but something.

Broken Yeti is retained and we get upset.

Broken track effect removed for repair and we get upset.

Hmmmmm....

I think we are getting 'upset' more at the loss of something- and the hope that it will return. Many have said it's just being fixed, but there's a history of "it's being fixed" and never returning that unfortunately Disney has a problem with.

But, I do get your point. :)

That doesn't excuse them not fixing it the last 7 years.

Absolutely no excuse...

Not a lot I can say. Understand, when something like this happens, the company will always figure out what went wrong and will almost always come up with multiple options to fix it as soon as possible. They aren't going to just let it stay broken and not bother with it. If it's not fixed, there's a reason. There have been options/plans to fix Everest's show for a long time. Joe doesn't like his park having a half-working attraction anymore than you do. Getting the fixes pushed through is another matter. There are multiple reasons why it hasn't been fixed, but it should be. Eventually. It's not a matter of not having a fix, it's having the budget/window/will/opportunity to get it done.

I can only assume that once Pandora opens ( 2017 UGH :banghead: ) EE will finally go down for a much needed breather and will then have a chance to fix ...show elements.

Only problem is, that'll put a huge strain on a brand new 'land'.

I hope Disney opens some other rides between now and then to offset the 'cost' of having a major E ticket down and a new land open at the same time. Something to soak up some people.

Hopefully. Maybe?

I can't believe EE hasn't had a refurb since it opened. It's almost ten years old... that's just crazy. My local amusement park replaces track and repairs cars and scenery quicker than that.

Actually, don't you find it at least a little impressive? Ornamental items have broken. Waterfalls, steam, flags in disrepair and the "broken track" currently under repair. But, as far as the coaster itself. It's been nearly trouble free all the while. Though I don't follow any other coasters of its kind, but that's a pretty well build coaster, it seems.
Again, this is ignoring all the other details on the outside. However, most amusement park type coasters have very little of that to deal with.

The new land will be strained any way, just like any new attraction/land opening.

It turned 8 in April, and it's not really that crazy.
When Disney builds coasters, they build them to a higher standard than most "other" theme parks. That, and they maintain them very well also.

Unfortunately I would argue these statements seem to be at odds with each other. If it were that important, then 'pushing it through' would happen. Priorities....

In some ways, yes, it is a impressive. Still, every ride should have a chance to go down for a refurb every now and then! It does seem well built.

Does anyone know what coaster company made it?

I'm pretty sure that if it needs to be taken down for extended maintenance, it will happen, regardless of whether Avatar has opened or not.
If I had to guess though, I would say that it's kept in such good condition because it is currently the biggest draw at AK, and losing it for a period of time for extended maintenance would have a serious impact on the park's attendance and revenue.

The company has never openly stated, so I'm not able/willing to say anything about the specifics. It's one of the three, with a heaping of administrative and legal issues mixed in.

Do you know if part of the reason for not fixing it to this point is because of what I said earlier... That the lawyers aren't happy with the weight and force of something of that size so near/above the train? Is that what you meant by "legal issues"? Or are you referring to potential lawsuits to place blame for the defect on one party or another?

I think sometimes answers are just best left blank otherwise folk keep itching, scratching and digging for more specifics.

Issues are issues. All we need to know is they cannot fix the yeti right now, but they ARE working on fixing what they can.

100% sure they would wait until Avatar opens and the night show begins in order to take stress off the demand of Everest. And hopefully other attractions have opened by then too. There's not enough to do in that park as it is and Everest is a big draw (for those looking at rides to fill their day).

But it's pretty much been confirmed by trustworthy sources on here and elsewhere that a plan exists to fix the yeti without closing the attraction.

"Why spend the money to fix it when people are still lining up in droves to ride and are still satisfied?" is the only reason nothing has been done.
