My dog died yesterday.......

He was a last chance dog that we adopted from the animal shelter four years ago. The vet said at the time he was about 7-10 years old, so he more than likely died of old age.

I miss my buddy!

In my long, long, life I've had many pets die, but it still hurts when I lose one. My sympathies go out to you.

I feel sorry, my heart goes out to you... I once lost my childhood dog, a cocker spaniel. I was young and took me long time to cope. I hope you feel better someday.

I'm so sorry, Spooky! *big hugs*

My dog died on Oct. 12, 2002. She was an Alaskian Malamute and she was about 16 years old when she died (I was 17 at the time, so I had never known life without her). It's a rough thing to lose a pet. I've lost many...mostly cats, but she (Mandy was her name) was the only dog I've ever had. Sometimes I still go outside and wish she were still around, but I know she had a good, long life and it was just her time to go. And I had rather her go like she did then by my family having to put her to sleep, or by her getting hit on the road. Remembering that helped me through it a bit.

I'm really sorry to hear that, I remember when my dog died... don't try and bottle up all your emotions or else you'll just make it worse, my thoughts go out to you.

Try not to be sad that he is gone. Be happy for the four years he was there.

Time heals all, and I hope it won't take too much time.

Oh, Spooky! I'm so sorry. When we lost my last dog, I cried for a week (until we got a new dog!). He was lucky to have you for so long at a time when no one else wanted him. Most people won't adopt older dogs because they want puppies that will be with them for many years. What a lucky dog, and what a special girl to love him.

I'm sorry for your loss.
Be glad that you gave your dog last good four years. That was kind hearted of you to pick up an older dog at the vet.
I know it's hard to lose a pet because they become family members. My thoughts go out to you.

I'm so sorry. I always had dogs & have had to say goodbye to a few. My dog, a black lab, will soon be 11 and she has arthritis & cancer. Her time is coming soon and we are having a hard time facing that fact. I just found out yesterday that my sister had to put one of her dogs to sleep (she was my favorite). I know what you are going thru. Look at it this way, at least you had four happy years together. *huggles*

I'm so sorry, Spooky. When you lose a pet you really end up with a hole in your heart. It's been 12 years since I went through this and I still have my moments.

As a shelter volunteer, I know exactly how much you meant to this dog, and what a beautiful gift you gave to him. I hope you know it too.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Take care.

Sorry for your loss; losing a pet is never an easy thing to do. You did the right and noble thing before by adopting; why not try it again? It will probably make the loss a lot easier.

The death of your dog is just the same as the death of a family member. There will never be another like him. After all, he was part of your family. I share your sadness. Be strong in your grief.

I am very sorry and I know how you feel. It has been almost 2 years since I lost my dog to kidney disease. And while it can still hurt, I am so thankful for all the good memories.

Grieving is actually good, even though it really can hurt. It will give you some closure and then you can move on in life with all the memories!
