Ever Have a Dud Disney Vacation?

They are there in varying volumes all summer. We've gone early, middle, and late in the summer and have always had some kind of encounter with them. If you go in the summer, they will be there too.

There was an entire thread on these tour groups a while back. A lot of people have had issues with them from being run over or into or them cutting in line. They also pretend they can't speak any English though many groups require that they be fluent in English.

I don't enjoy sharing the parks with them, but it is usually once in a lifetime for them. I have been 6 times already and most of them will never get that opportunity. Some things are simply intolerable, but I don't let them get me down for the most part.

BTW, we don't think you're mean. It's a very common feeling towards large groups of anything.

lol thanks, last 2 times we went they werent there and we went in the summer. hmm... oh well

a couple of years ago we had just flown in from the uk for 2 weeks and my little brother who was 10 at the time developed a ear infection, an eye infection and the chicken pox. He couldn't go out of the hotel room at all because he was completely covered in spots. In the end he only had 3 days holiday at the end of our trip as he was starting to heal by then but he still had to go out in long sleeved tops in the middle of August. We did take him to BB and TL but he couldn't go in the water and just had to watch me and my sis having fun! i felt so bad for him but we are going back in august so hopefully we should be ok!

This July will be my 13th trip to WDW. I've been there with sick people, miserable kids and adults, busy times of year, etc....I've never had a bad trip. The CM's are great and make sure that we have a great time, every time.

Our last trip in Dec '05 was a dud - we refer to it as the "Lost Disney Trip". My aunt and uncle, who are in their 60's, went with us, and were sticks in the mud for the entire trip. After it became obvious we weren't interested in doing the same things, they still insisted on going everywhere we went, all the while griping about what we & the kids wanted to do. In the mornings, were going to the parks too early. At night, they were ready to go back to the house before the parades, fireworks, etc. It was just a nightmare.

I had a dud evening at MK. My wife and I had a fight right in the middle of town square while waiting for SpectroMagic to begin. All I can remember is that it began with "Why are you mad IN THIS PLACE!" and escalated from there. Thankfully, we made up by the time Wishes! started, but I feel so very bad for the guests (not to mention my mother-in-law) who had to pretend not to notice we were fighting.

Oh yeah, I just remembered one visit to MGM when I had a fight with my husband because one of us ran out of park tickets on our park pass and we had to buy a really expensive one day park pass. It actually ended up being a really great day though, because he convinced me to ride Rock N Rollercoaster for the first time and I really loved it. It is a horrible feeling to feel that way anywhere at Disneyworld, though I think it's the worst to feel it at the Magic Kingdom.

oddly enough - theme parks are the only places i havent argued with mrs cmatt. Which in itself is quite a mean feat of skill (probably something to do with me paying for the holiday, so she has to be nice for more then 5 minutes :zipit: )

Out of interest....

did it start off with:

you : whats wrong darling?

her: NOTHING......

you : are you sure?

her : if there was a problem YOU of all people should know why....

*cue argument*

I have had to resort to yes dear, which if im not actually listening lands me in trouble :zipit:

i know your pain

Ive had several. We always have a summer trip in July, and my aunt just has to tag along with us, and usually with her she just talks to much and nags alittle, so usually the first week its not as fun. But other than her slight annoyance, Ive had trips where I was just completely out of it and everything. Everything that could go wrong did, and it was just awful, and this happened atleast 3 to 4 trips. Im praying and hoping that this upcoming trip wont be like any of the bad ones Ive had, and that Ill just be able to relax and enjoy myself like we should always do in WDW.

Oh yes, and Im also familiar with the Brazalian tour groups. They are a big annoyance. Ive learned how to deal with them though, because we usually go in July when they come down too.

I had a dud day from my Jan trip. My best friend, who is my Disney travelling buddy, always gets sick about the third day into the trip and complains all day that she can't ________. This has happened the last 4 times we have been, so I don't know why she is surprised or hasn't taken measures to combat this.
Try being happy when the person you are travelling with keeps complaining that she can't eat because she feels "toxic" cause she hasn't pooped in 3 days. Then she complained the next 2 days cause she felt nauseous and had the squirts.

:brick:

Well, I kept complaining about it to my husband and karma got me in the end. We were riding on Spaceship Earth and at the point where you enter the starry sky, I started to feel super nauseous. I kept thinking I was going to puke everywhere, so I started digging through my bag looking for something to quietly throw up in. Well, about 20 seconds later, the sickness moves lower and I feel like my stomach is going to blow up. I had all this horrible pressure. Well, all of a sudden, the ride starts slowing down and I'm thinking, "I'm going to puke or have an accident in my shorts." And then the ride STOPS. Well, at this point my eyes are watering and I am having hot and cold flashes. I took and chance and let this paint peeling fart fly. My husband and best friend and her husband start screaming and coughing and dying from the smell. I'm laughing and crying because I feel so bad. Finally after sitting in the stench for about a minute or so, the ride starts up. I manage to get off the ride and run for the bathroom where I am dying of a stomach virus for about an hour or so. All the while there is thousands of people coming in and out of the bathrooms around me screaming and yelling to their family members about how this bathroom stinks so bad.:cry::cry:

I learned my lesson not to tease people about their stomach situations. My friends and husband and I refer to this as the "Hot Sick" situation on Spaceship Earth.:hammer:

On our trip this past Nov/Dec(the week after Thanksgving), I came down with a stomach virus 3 days before we were to come home. I was sick the rest of the trip. :(

One Thanksgiving trip my wife and I fought like cats and dogs.

She was doing online college courses and she was maxxxxing out and hated school and hated having to do school work while at Disney.
Hated me for bringing her to a wonderful place when she had to work.:brick:
It was a very long weekend...................

Oh yeah! March 2003. From the start, we had problems, we weren't able to check in on time and had to wait 2 hours. Had problems with our room, house service, wait staff, parks closed early - in fact we spent many nights in our room playing card games because PI was the only thing open past 9:00. And to top it off, I got sick. We're hoping this time makes up for it.
Of course in all fairness to Disney, this was when they had major cut-backs and it appears their back to full staff.
We're keeping our fingers crossed

I've had less than exciting trips only because we've been so much. After a while, doing the same thing again and again can become tiresome. Our remedy for that was to skip out on certain attractions or parks altogether. Last May, we did not do MK, while in September and November we didn't go to AK and did nothing at Epcot but walk around. Some things for us are must-sees every trip, while other things we can do without for a while.

One thing that made our trip in September unique was experiencing MNSSHP for the first time. That made going to MK refreshing and hopefully I can do that this year too :D

i'm sorry to say that i love this story!

i can sympathize with your friend, because i think that there is something quite "binding" about certain disney meals-like the hamburgers or similar items. i have found when i'm not eating at a sit down restaurant and just at the quick service places, i also come down with a case of the i can'ts.

i have also had the horrible coincidence of having the "stomach bugs" while in the parks and having to dispose of said bugs while the park is still very busy.

the funny thing is, you know that you have in the past and will in the future make fun of the people in the same situation when you are in the bathrooms. i'm not saying you won't sympathize, but it still is funny.

Remember: Everybody Poops!:)

Bran muffins and coffee every morning on all Disney trips!! That's always been the rule in my family!! :)

This happened to me once in MK after eating at Cosmic Rays. I spent the rest of the day hopping in and out of MK bathrooms. I was pregnant at the time so I couldn't go on many rides anyway, so I was really only there to enjoy the atmosphere. I became very familiar with the atmosphere in all the bathrooms on that trip. Very clean I must say!

Sometimes these things happen :) Although I have never had a bathroom fiasco at Disney, I do love a good horror story! I don't go too often so I never have had a dud..but I did have one trip where i was only there 3 nights and I ran and tried to do 4 parks and Downtown Disney in that time...I could barely walk at the end! I don't know if it was the shoes or the standing, but I had the worst lower back pain EVER and I was only 22 at the time. Had a great time though!
