Epcot's Nightmare Christmas just wont go away

Why make excuses? Don't you want more?

DL has lighting shows, interactive trees, the works.

I guess, but I think we have enough to get by. Of course you always will want more- I bet DL people want more to. But there's a limit where there's enough Christmas spirit in the parks and I think the parks accomplish this in my eyes.

Awe, I hate to see the end of Christmas. My tree stays up until February (it's artificial) and my train garden will be on display until March. Nothing brightens a dreary bitter winter better than some lights and decoration.

Now if Disney had some sense they'd start a Mardi Gras celebration and carry them through March. Universal does it.

A parade, some beads, feather masks. Heck Tiana can showcase. The Showboat show was amazing for this.

It was kinda strange to see decorations up for the whole first week of January. I did notice that the hotels seemed to come down first, perhaps because they are easier to do in one night? (And the CM's can duck inside to warm up/plus more internal decor) But after a trip 2 years ago around the same time and seeing about no decorations at all, it was kinda disappointing to still see everything up. Now I kinda enjoyed seeing it, and it was nice to see the castle all lit up when we were at MK, but at the same time I missed the non decor holiday stuff. While kinda lessened the experience. It's good to see that I wasn't the only person bewildered by everything still being up. Opinion before the trip was that as of Jan 4th, stuff would be coming down, and most would be gone within the week.

"Getting by" is not Disney Quality or showmanship.:xmas:

Bingo!

I'm tired of hearing people defend mediocrity and stupidity.

What's worse is when it comes from kids. Do you really want a lesser quality experience than what generations before you have come to expect from Disney?

If so, that's a sad, cynical statement on what kind of future you're gonna get stuck with!

I understand that Christmas is over and that its time for the decorations to go! But shouldn't we be more concerned about the attractions at the parks and if they are running smoothly and such?? I mean YES the decorations should go, but to be honest they are really not that important. The quality of the rides are the most important. WDW will take down their decorations when they are ready. Just enjoy the parks anyway. I mean the decorations cannot be seriously ruining anyone's trip experiences. As much time as you worry about the lights being taken down, you won't fully enjoy your experience due to worrying...so just enjoy it! :)

I don't know. I'm here right now and I coulnt enjoy epcot or the magic kingdom because the decorations are too distracting. Just like how all the peeling paint and overpriced merchandise distract from my trips. But I still continue to go and spend money!

Jk, but I agree with you, but it is getting late in january.

From what I read on DL-centric boards, it's not that they are asking for more but they are wondering what they will be getting next year. They know there will likely be more pluses coming to them in the next holiday season. Meanwhile, we sit here fretting over what's going to be taken away next year...

Not necesarily. Due to the LoW problem with the fans, I have a feeling TDO will at least try something new at Epcot.

You don't always have to look at things in a negative way.

Trust me, I'm one of the least negative people you''ll ever meet (online anyway). I'm not a doom-and-gloomer, just telling it how I see it. However the past couple of years haven't been kind to the holidays at WDW while they've been great to those on the West Coast. People's reaction to the loss of LoW has me hopeful that next year will be better, but looking at the recent trends I'm not sure how much better it will be.

The only time i want to see christmas decorations is on Christmas day. Is it too much to ask for disney to put them all up, run through the shows then take them all down in 24 + hours?

That about sums it up for us Southern Californians.

I get that there are differences between the operation of Disneyland and WDW, and that Disneyland has 20 million locals living within easy driving distance who will always want to see something new at Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom of Disneyland.

But you would think WDW could at least maintain a reasonable status quo when it comes to decorating for major holidays.

That should NEVER make a difference or be an excuse. Quality is quality. It's Disney. And Quality will out.

Dang Mrs Diva! That's a little harsh don't you think. Lol, just because some people spend most of their time here and at Disney world doesn't make them losers. It just makes them dedicated/addicted fans. Complaining about this that and the other, continuing to support a company that no longer delivers quality attractions etc. and wasting money going to this place and not enjoying it is stupid! If WDW ever became stale to me and I felt I wasn't getting my moneys worth, I'd stop going.
