Epcot's Nightmare Christmas just wont go away

It's ironic that I read this thread today, because just yesterday I read an article by a reverend in a local newspaper about how Advent is meant to be celebebrated through December and how Christmas in meant to be celebrated for 12 days after Christmas (hence the song). The festivities are meant to warm the soul through the darkest days of winter until the days start lengthening again around this time. The article pointed out how most Americans have become incorrectly in a hurry to be done with Christmas shortly after Christmas day while they are in such a hurry to celebrate Christmas prematurly. Following tradition, Disney is correct in celebrating the season through early January.

I'll also note that Disneyland usually keeps It's a Small World Holiday in operation until around the 20th of January (give or take a couple days).

Early to mid January is a great time to celebrate Christmas.

Amen, nice perspective.

People are keeping their lights up around where I live because its way too cold to take them down. Seriously, they're usually all down by this time of year.

If they think its too cold, they can come to NH and pull my blow-up Frosty out of the frozen tundra in my front yard. It's supposed to hit 20 degrees for a high today.

Better yet, fly me down there and I'll clean up for free.

I think the issue is that all of the entertainment, parades, fireworks, shows have ended, and yet parts of the decor remain. If everything was to remain, you could take the view that the holidays are continuing to be enjoyed. Yet all we have left is a tree and music. It just looks very out of place now.

They're just like my family. Won't take this Christmas lights down.

I kinda like them having lights until te 14th. If you want to avoid crowds and still see Christmas at WDW, you still can. Very nice.

I think the original poster was making the point that you cant see Christmas at WDW now. All of the events, entertainment, parades, fireworks are gone, it's just a tree and music.

A fascinating cultural, sociological, theological debate - complete with charges and countercharges of xenophobia and intolerance.

Of course, the entire debate presupposes that the decorations are actually still up because of some carefully thought out decision by TDO.

I'm afraid it's much too easy for me, after observing the parks the last few years, to conclude that they are still partially in holiday mode for cost reasons, i.e. the teams charged with returning the parks to normal mode are busy protecting petunias and such from snow and ice.

ENOUGH ALREADY. This debate (?) has gone on way to long. PEACE! :brick:

But he also begs the larger, unanswered question - has holiday services been a victim to layoffs/budget cuts?

iv beged her for years not to set it up in the front window.

and she wonders why this house is the laughing stock of the neighborhood.....
