The last guy who openly challenged Steve.... well much like in Goodfellas, "Wont be seein him no more"

I wasn't challanging him. He knows that. Assuming he doesn't is worse.:lookaroun

By the way, I thought you were not talking to me anymore.

I'll also note that Disneyland usually keeps It's a Small World Holiday in operation until around the 20th of January (give or take a couple days).

I think that's for a park capacity thing more than anything, as some years both Mansion and Small World close at the same time for 10 or 11 days to remove the Holiday overlay. But this year the Rivers of America was walled off and began draining for a five month rehab (REHABS RUIN VACATIONS! ) on Monday, January 4th, so they are staggering it a bit.

Haunted Mansion is closed to remove the Holiday overlay from January 4th until the 14th (RUINING VACATIONS! ). Then regular Haunted Mansion and Small World Holiday operate through the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. On Tuesday, January 19th, Small World Holiday closes for 10 days to remove the Holiday overlay (RUINING MORE VACATIONS! ).

I will say at Disneyland this year, Santa's Reindeer Ranch and the Roundup Show closed promptly on Monday, January 4th. Garland and decorations were removed from Main Street for two days, the lights began removing from the Castle, and the Christmas Tree in the Town Square was gone last Wednesday. With the Christmas Tree gone, the regular music loop was turned on and the Christmas Carols were removed. You could tell they were moving farther into the park with the decoration removal when I visited last night, and with the main stuff gone all area music loops had the regular music playing. They decorate every single land in Disneyland for Christmas, except Tomorrowland. DCA has some fairly extensive Christmas decor as well, and that's coming down quickly this week.

New Orleans Square offers a good sampling of the type of Christmas decorations Disneyland puts up and takes down each year, so it's no wonder it takes them more than a week to get it all down. Every lamp post is decorated, every shop and balcony and doorway in that land gets the Jazz Age Christmas treatment. I wouldn't want to have to pack up all this stuff every year, would you?

A fascinating cultural, sociological, theological debate - complete with charges and countercharges of xenophobia and intolerance.

Of course, the entire debate presupposes that the decorations are actually still up because of some carefully thought out decision by TDO.

I'm afraid it's much too easy for me, after observing the parks the last few years, to conclude that they are still partially in holiday mode for cost reasons, i.e. the teams charged with returning the parks to normal mode are busy protecting petunias and such from snow and ice.

I think you have nailed it right there

You come across as someone who likes to argue everything in life.

I just enjoy challanging conventional "wisdom". It's my forte.

Nothing personal.

By the way, anyone who has never had Iguana, if breaded and fried it tastes similar to popcorn chicken. You can also broil it and dip it in a melted butter/garlic sauce using toothpicks. Yum Yum.

And they are free all weekend. All you can eat. No limits.

For most of us in the States, we're exposed to a near-constant barrage of Christmas starting right around Halloween. After two solid months of Christmas muzak we're ready for it to be over by about January 2. I was really annoyed to hear it in the parks all last week. I kept having flashbacks to crowded malls and long lines at Wal-Mart.

As fillerup accurately noted, the reason for delay in holiday decoration removal this year is indeed the historic cold snap of the past week, which will continue until Wednesday. All decoration removal is done overnight, and resources have indeed been turned toward preserving tender plantlife while keeping as many cast members out of sub-freezing temperatures as possible.

In other words, the overnight teams will remove holiday decorations when it warms up, likely starting Wednesday or Thursday.

I wondered since Marathon weekend was so early this year they kept it up. During the race this morning, my goal was to get to the Magic Kingdom before the sun came up and it was nice running down Main Street with the garland and the tree up. But some reason the snowflakes didn't taste like soap this morning!

You ran by me behind Splash Mountain at the water stop.

In some places Christmas is celebrated throughout January. So I wouldn't conclude Christmas is "over". Perhaps Disney is acknowledging that as they get a lot of international visitors. I like it. Hope it's a trend. :xmas:
Technically' most religious institutions have the Christmas Season ending tomorrow and the Epiphany (Which in Eastern Orthodox Churches is when Christmas is celebrated.
