Epcot UK pavilion

The Canada pavilion does not look like anything the real place does. We do not wear lumber jack outfits or live in some twisted Pacific coast meets Atlantic coast town and there are better looking railroad hotels then the blandly named "Hotel du Canada". Plus we still sell Beavertails here in certain spots.

But I'm sure Americans and others would rather have what's there now then a more accurate representation of the place. Same goes for all the other pavilions which are more appealing to me "Disneyfied".

And where is the poutine shop? I am still waiting for one. You can keep you beaver tails off the menu WDW, put in a poutine stand. :)

FYI - in the US you can get poutine in the Manchester area of New Hampshire and if you go into just about any diner in NJ and ask for "Disco Fries" you get a poutine like dish (cheese is different though). Anywhere else in the US if you mention french fries with cheese and gravy people think you are insane :)

I believe along with heart attacks and lowest life expectancy in the developed world, Glasgow is the world capital of knife crime and has the highest murder rate per head of population.

It makes you proud to be a world leader. :lookaroun

I guess im just a naive American but I never would have guessed this. Everyone ive met from the UK was so nice.

This is exactly right, I work in Camden NJ and I am very glad they didnt theme the pavilion off of places like that. If I could have one wish for the UK Pav it would be to put some kind of attraction that dealt with the British contribution to American music in the 60's and 70's and being the huge Beatle fan that I am a recreation of Abbey road would be awsome.

Also I had no idea that there was som much crime in the UK.

Oooo Camden would make an EXCELLENT pavillion, you could have a mock up of the aquarium and make the queue having to run the gauntlet of drug dealers to get to it. :)

I never heard of "Disco Fries" until I moved to NJ! While not quite the contribution to world cuisine that funnel cakes are, I still think there's room for them at the America Pavilion!

I concur. Poutine is the best. Isn't there a whole floor of unused shop space in the Canada pavilion? Turn it into poutine central, Disney. Come on!

im not sure what the problem is, the uk pavillion is exactly like where i live, plus i have mary poppins flying in and out every now and then, and theres a cheery old chimney sweep, showing little children his brushes (!:lookaroun) on every corner.the dustmen are polite and whislte a merry tune, and pick every piece of little up that they drop. the milkman actually puts the milk in our fridge, and the postman doesnt deliver bills. i love living here!

Next thing I know, you all will be telling me thay the skyscrapers in the Kingdom don't have thatched roofs on them. I am starting to get a feeling of disillusionment.

I thought the same thing about my home country of Canada when I visited Epcot as a kid. My experience of Canada was mostly of the cities, so the totem poles and gardens of the pavilion were completely alien to me. But then, I *was* young, and had yet to be exposed to the full spectrum of Canada's history and culture. So, you could say that Epcot opened the door to that knowledge!

Hi, I am from Glasgow, healthy family with a good ticker, have never witnessed knife crime or a murder or know anyone who has- surprising:brick:. Every where has their young hooligans and that is a problem throughout UK (even the world) and not just Glasgow. I think you have been watching too many episodes of Taggart, "there has been a muuurder!!":ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:Glasgow is a great city, wonderful shops, museums, beautiful parks, tartan, kilts, Charles Rennie MacIntosh, wonderful golf courses and at the moment full of tourists who love our friendly manner, we don't care where you are from we will make you welcome (and that is in a good way!!). I think I might go and work for the Scottish Tourist Board:p.

More of a Rebus man,

Found this among the most recent stats:

This news follows on from last week's revelation that, according to the United Nations, Scotland is the most violent country in the developed world.

A UNITED Nations report has labelled Scotland the most violent country in the developed world, with people three times more likely to be assaulted than in America.

The study, based on telephone interviews with victims of crime in 21 countries, found that more than 2,000 Scots were attacked every week, almost ten times the official police figures. They include non-sexual crimes of violence and serious assaults.

Violent crime has doubled in Scotland over the past 20 years and levels, per head of population, are now comparable with cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg and Tbilisi.

Health

In Iraq, life expectancy is 67. Minutes from Glasgow city centre, it's 54

The Guardian

Perhaps the UK could add deep fried Mars bars and pizza to the menu.

:D Yes Glasgow is a great city, shame its just the neds that are an issue

I am a proud Glaswegian, not experienced anything you have quoted (not doubt it is correct) but just commenting on somewhere I love to live and proud of:animwink:. Enough of that though, we are totally off topic

The UK Pavilion looks like a "Chocolate Box" design of UK, quaint and nostalgic. I do think the Dr Who Tardis idea of fun, my kids love that programme, we have a few in Glasgow that have been turned into tiny Coffee stands. My kids don't get it though, the keep asking where the Dr is:ROFLOL:?
