Epcot rumor per Jim Hill...

YES!!! They need to stop thinking about overlays to existing attraxctions and build a new attraction....that is what EPCOT needs! What about the Germany attraction that was never built? The UK Attraction unbuilt? The Japan Attraction unbuilt? The entire Equatorial Africa pavilion that was unbuilt?... there were so many things already planned that they have just never funded, if they picked up these projects and completed them, not only would there be no capacity problems, but EPCOT might end up bing the most popular park at the WDW resort...

I still want to see the proposed Venezuela, Spain or Russian pavilions come to fruition. Still bummed we never got our version of Meet the World in Japan.

Meet The World ended up being installed in Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland, and closed a few years back...so no doubt the entire show is crated up somewhere... Why not tweak it and bring it to EPCOT?

More countries! Yes! But one thing I wonder about when I think about them building new countries almost 30 years after any new ones....it would be built to reflect the way they build things now.....so would it blend in with the others? I'm talking size, layout, and you KNOW characters would be built in somehow....

there was something about the sponsor not being happy with the show...and so it was shipped to TDL... not sure what the objection was, and why it could not have been modified to satisfy the sponsor...But I think the sponsorship of the Japan pavilion has changed a bit since then... though I believe they expanded the Mitsukoshi store into the area that would have been part of the theater...

They made a mistake when they built the show building for it in EPCOT Center and the show couldn't fit inside. It's all in @marni1971's video on the Japan pavilion.

Btw, 7,777th post. Lucky me.

Edit: this video has the show in English using the original recording.

But are they based on IPs?

Why would they not have been able to expand the structure to fit the attraction? Seems likt that would have been a no-brainer. And lert's face it, the Japan pavilion is a store and restaurant...aside from the changing gallery and the drummers out front, there is little to teach you anything about Japan...which is a shame...Same with Italy, UK and Germany...

The errors were such that a wholesale redesign and rebuilding of the structure was necessary. Since EPCOT was already at double the original budget and a rebuild would delay the opening of the Japan pavilion, the ride was scrapped that the show building became storage.

Wow! Such a shame....and with that grand entrance leading to nowhere...except the store annex and a small gallery...so anticlimactic. You would have thought they could do all the expansion from the back without even disturbing what is in the public eye...and again, an attraction celebrating the story and culture of Japan would really be the whole point of the pavilion...

I'd like to see them add something to the Italy pavilion...Putting some flag wavers out there just doesn't cut it for me.
I agree... they don't really need to add new countries, just finish out the ones that are there...Every country pavilion should have some sort of an attraction to educate and enlighten about the actual country represented...The only thing I learn from the Italy pavilion is they eat Pizza from a restaurant group out of California...though I do like the Pizza place, there is little else of the country or culture of Italy represented... Same goes for Germany, UK, , Japan... It just seems to make sense to complete the concept before making the World Showcase Fantasyland 2.0
