"Epcot Promenade Stucture" removal

I do not think the buildings will be totally green or blue. I think only trim or entrances. I think the rest of the buildings will be painted the same color.

Nice photoshop job!

Thats what I'm thinking/hoping. I hope the neon is changed as well so each side has its respective color. That would look pretty cool at night IMHO.

I think my preference would be for them to get rid of the neon altogether, but I wouldn't mind seeing it changed to a nice blue. I want to see the pink go without a doubt, though.

So Innoventions east will look something like this?

That looks wonderdul...If that's what it's going to be like, I am ALL for it.:D

I freaking LOVE EPCOT. That is all.:sohappy:

Nah, the neon is a nice effect for the night.

Why don't you like it?

It can be a bit of a harsh light, neon, especially if its really bright. That being said, something like the blue Soarin' queue lights, which aren't quite as harsh as exposed neon, would look good.

I do think somekind of accent lighting at night should be kept for the plaza area.

I suppose, but if it is supplemented with other lights to light the surroundings, it mellows it out and the neon merely becomes a "effect". Something EPCOT has no problem with.

Oh, I have no problem whatsoever with the neon (I actually want the green/blue neon). I was just taking the counter arguement that some might use as to why they aren't big fans of neon, something I can understand.

Ah.

I wonder if we can get some of the tube lighting that adorns the SSE Signs... Those can change colors, you know.:lookaroun

Hello,Blue/Green switch every few minuets...:lookaroun:D

(Goodness, I am getting excited.)

I don't think the SSE signs are "tube" lighting. I think they're more like some of those cool looking "EXIT" signs where the LEDs shine onto a mirror/glass panel to create the effect.

Something like this:

I think my photo rendering just gave EPCOT Explorer something that starts with an "o" and ends with an "m".

Since we are deeply immersed in Innoventions Plaza discussion what do you think they should do with the BGM. I would suggest incorporating the theme from the Innoventions web site into the mix somehow but they better not touch Papillon

It's not that I dislike the neon (besides the color), but a couple of things count against it: first, I think the Plaza mostly lit by the internal glow of CommuniCore was much more lovely, interestingly almost a reversal of the natural lighting inside the pavilion during the day. Second, while it's still a nice form of lighting, I think neon now suggests a bit of outdatedness, or at least indicative of modern times, definitely not something you want in Future World. Why do neon with all of the new, cutting-edge, exotic, beautiful lighting that Disney would have access to, stuff that no one would hardly see anywhere else?

Ah, I can see the modern-ness (is that a word?) issue. I agree, something else could be found, but if we stick with neon, I'm perfectly good with it. And the internal glow of the windows would be nice, except nowadays its just greenish posters in the windows...it just doesn't work like it used to in the CCore days... :(

Exactly. Well said. LEDS and OLEDS are "Future". Indirect lighting from Communicore was very well done originally.

Keep some of the old (especially the part with a bit of New Horizons),
make and mix in some new. I'd love to see it fused with the main entrance loop, for Future World-wide BGM like there used to be. Ideally, it would consist of new instrumental versions of each pavilions theme, past and present, performed and recorded with a real orchestra, instead of being purely electronic.

Ah, I can see the modern-ness (is that a word?) issue. I agree, something else could be found, but if we stick with neon, I'm perfectly good with it.

Yeah, I don't think it's that important or anything, it'd just be one of those nice touches that makes EPCOT special. I don't see pink neon sticking around with an Innoventions/Plaza overall, and I'm reasonably satisfied with that.

You speak my language...

I would link you, but Steve does not like that website.:shrug:

Anyone know why?

Yes, because they were previously members of WDWMAGIC, spammed to promote their site constantly, didnt like it when I told them to stop, and made lots of threats about how they were going to "destroy" WDWMAGIC. So I'm not interested in promoting their site.

Are you kidding me?:lookaroun

I don't know if it was ever confirmed (Martin, you know anything?), but I'd read somewhere that the motors in the whirley-gigs around Epcot were the motors from the Radok screen.

Might've just been pure speculation by whoever posted it, though.
