EPCOT Entertainment cuts

Saw it on a twitter for some site that turns into "******" here. If you look at the Orlando Sentinel article, it says "The new entertainment will be added to Epcot over the next few months, the company said"

Well, early October could be "the next few months". I guess I'm a bit skeptical that they will cut the acts and then not have the replacements until late Nov basically missing F&W a busy season at Epcot. At least I'm skeptical until I see confirmation of it. With October being the new budget year and these acts reportedly being cheaper, they should be able to be brought in soon after the old acts stop.

Added more info to my reply. I would assume that since the official answer states that the new acts will debut in the following months, it means following the final performances of the existing acts...which means the "months" clock starts ticking at the end of next month.

Thank goodness we at least have Move it! Shake it! Dance and Play it! to look forward to. Otherwise, I would say the situation looks bleak at WDW.

They should have just kept these acts til November then had them go on hiatus for all the Holidays Around the World entertainment, never to return. We would have been too hung over on spiked eggnog to notice.

so on the Disney timeline, "months" later, in April 2016, the lumberjacks will show up with major wood.

It's kinda ironic. People moaned to high heavens when British Revolution was brought in.

Seriously, what happens if/when Sbandieratori Flags or B’net Houariyat or Scottish Musical Trio become popular?

I actually think it's good that British Revolution is staying, so that there continues to be a rock presence in the WS for those who want it. The new additions otherwise seem to add some greater variety to the area.

And before anyone says that OK and Mo'Rockin' were very different from British Revolution (I don't deny that's true), I'd argue that in theory a Celtic band and Berber music and a lumberjack show and a flag show are all more different and exhibit diversity.

I'm gonna miss the Fife and Drums corps though. Someone mentioned something about Liberty Square -- any possibility that they (or more likely something similar but cheaper) could be brought in for that area?

Curious to see myself since I'll be there Monday 9/29...Last year I was enjoying a beer and chilled out for a bit by Off Kilter, but this year, I guess just the beer. :hungry:

It's about $$$$$, not about adding diversity to the entertainment options in WS.

First characters, and now actual entertainment? The cutbacks just never seem to end with Disney:banghead:

Again, they are cutting four acts and adding four. While it may be saving Disney money, it seems like a fairly even swap (of course, the quality of the new acts is TBD).

Now, legitimately, there can be a complaint about the past WS acts that were cut without replacements -- the Ziti Sisters and the candy lady. I don't recall there ever being replacements added, right? Disney deserves criticism for that. These new cuts however seem to have replacements lined up which is a good thing.

Also I do hope that the find something new for American Adventure since that pavilion will be down an act with losing the fife and drums without an announced replacement. The other pavilion that are losing acts are getting replacements (including Italy belated getting someone new). I'm hoping that the "and more" from the official Disney blog might indicate a new show for America.

I would be happy with this announcement IF this were a true addition. Lumberjacks and Off-Kilter? Cool! Lumberjacks instead of Off-Kilter? Not so much. It's not enhanced entertainment just different and cheaper entertainment. With the Food and Wines Festival coming up, they should be adding entertainment, not cutting it.

I am especially torn up about the Fife and Drum Corp. I loved seeing them when we visit Epcot. Just a bummer.

One of the hottest threads I have followed, so very emotional to all to see multiple live entertainment venues gone fast. My wife and I loved all that are cut. What fun it was to enter WS and walk by all the live music around the lagoon... As well as live street shows that are gone or going away. So sad. We booked to go to WDW for Food and Wine this year and some of the best live stuff will not be there. I never felt the live entertainment at EPCOT was stale at all. Stopping by each spot to listen and to enjoy refreshments at each spot, shop, linger, take in what each pavillion offered. Time marches on, I guess. Just do not know what direction WDW is taking. I guess cutting down trees for fireworks viewingfor 15minutes (e.g. EPCOT and MK) is more important than the shade and beauty they would give is an example of where we are headed.
