EPCOT 25th Gallery was CLOSED today - what's up?

Went to EPCOT this morning and at about 10:30 am went to check out the 25th Gallery and it was CLOSED. The double doors were locked. I just did a search on these forums and couldn't find any information...anyone know what the deal was?

I have never seen it locked. I tried to peek in the cracks in the doors and I could see the lights were on but there wasn't anyone in there. I wondered if there was some kind of private tour going on but I couldn't see people at all.

A custodial CM came by as I was trying every way to get the doors open and he said he didn't understand why it was locked up, that it was not normal, and that only security has the combination to get in, not even management has the combination.

 Wonder what the deal was?

It is officially closed. Yesterday was the last day it was open. I too was suprised as I went into work today. I saw it was not open, I called the manager, and they said yesterday was the last day. :(

I am just heartbroken. I remember not even expecting it to last this long, but the longer it stayed open the better its chances seemed for becoming a permanent exhibit--fan-friendly, good for crowded days, and presumably not too expensive to maintain. It is extremely disappointing to know that I was wrong, and beyond frustrating to think that there was no real advance notice of this (although I can see why they might expect a fan uprising).

I never got to see it in person. I always held onto the hope that it would be there whenever I returned to Epcot, and that I'd be able to have those few minutes of happiness at hearing the old music in the park once again...

To be honest, even on busy days the exhibit was almost always empty. It seemed like its closing was pretty much inevitable.

It's just a room of stuff that didn't even need anyone to man the exhibit! What in the heck do you mean? I go there all the time and can't get good pics because I can't get in there alone.

What else are they going to put in there? :lookaroun:lookaroun:lookaroun:lookaroun It's just a painfully small room and the least they can do for EPCOT.

Are you KIDDING?

WALT DISNEY WORLD CAN'T KEEP A MUSEUM OPEN?!?

That is complete and utter nonsense.Does it really cost them THAT much to close down a room with a few lighting rigs, retro BGM and a TV?

Disney...COME ON.Acknowledge your history.Build on it.Don't just shove it into a room for a year and then forget about it.

Seriously...

Dude.It cost no money to run and No CM's were needed.

Disney can afford this.Trust me. If there is any thing Disney can keep open for the "fanboys" it was this. And we were happy with this too.

A tribute to the past.The Music.The artifacts.

Gone.

I have no idea what they will replace it with, if anything. I was pretty bummed, I enjoyed walking through there, it was just nice to see some of the History. There really wasn't any announcement to the Cast either.

I am beyond disappointed. The censors on this site would edit how I really feel right now. :brick:

If it's officially closed for good, I'm severely disappointed. :(

That was one of my favorite things in all of Epcot on my last trip and the only thing at the top of my list of things to see/do. How could they not keep this open? One Man's Dream is opened, and this was basically the Epcot version.

If it's gone, it will be sorely missed.

Well it's been open much longer than anyone expected, we all have great memories, and THOUSANDS of pictures all together, so don't you think it's about time we cashed in and said our peace? I mean, we all knew it wouldn't last forever, and most everyone here got to see it. Now it's a drag for people like me who simply hang out in there for the music, but I can't complain. I saw it tons of times, read and re-read everything, listened to all the music I have here at home, and took hundreds of pictures of EVERYTHING in there, so while sad, I think it's had a great run.

If you guys are still reaching for the grail, consider this my "Indiana...Indiana...let it go."

It would be absolutely fantastic if they decided to keep this exhibit open permanently, but it doesn't directly make money for the parks. So it doesn't matter if the fans enjoy it or not. At least it stayed open for as long as it has. Spending some time in there was certainly the highlight of my last two trips.

I agree...I am surprised OMD is still there.

The Gallery was scheduled to close after 1 year anyways. It's closing permenently.

It **WAS** supposed to close at the end of last year but they extended it.And still...Why didn't we know?:fork:

Why not?It was just a room...Is there a reason for closing somehting that did not effect the bottom line?It makes no sense.

I'm glad we were standing inside of it yesterday for such a special occasion as WDWCelebrations, World Wide Weekend. It seems fitting that we all met there one last time :)

I have this desire to clobber you Travis. :lookaroun:lookaroun:lookaroun

Really, it is such a simple thing to keep open. I know you and I go all the time but there are people who do not and there's so much in there that people should learn about EPCOT. So many clueless people go there - you know, you ride the monorail and the tram with them while they talk about riding Fast Track - so any little bastion of information and history is greatly needed.
