EPCOT – the park that lost its optimism

If you go looking for something inflammatory, I guess you will find it. But, you can search all you want for something to believe in at a theme park, you'll always be left empty. Just simply enjoy it for what it is... pure entertainment.

Yet for many of us on these forums, Disney is our future. Therefor, they are something to believe in.

Now on another level, that's true too. You should NEVER look to a theme park—or any entertainment company—for your own sense of purpose and beliefs!

But Epcot does have the inspiration factor that should promote an optimistic view of the real world...

...even as insane people bomb each other.

 :lookaroun

EDIT: Remember, we're talking about an optimistic look at the future; nobody is asking for StepfordCot!

I totally agree with Tirian!

However, I don't want it to seem as if I don't enjoy EPCOT now, because that wouldn't be the truth. For me personally, there is something that is missing from my experience. And you are correct, that this a problem with me. Although I am glad to see that some people (and it would include sponsors *cough* Siemens* cough*) seem to agree with me, I would never belittle anyone who doesn't agree with me or try to ruin their experience.

If I am being duped or have a "problem", then I am doing so with a smile on my face.

If you feel the way that you do and you go to EPCOT and leave with a smile on our face, that is awesome.

We both win! While I am hopeful for change, I am realistic that EPCOT is not out to please me and people who hold my same opinion. If the kind of change that I would like to happen doesn't...then I know that I have a place that I can come and discuss my opinions.
