I think (and hope) Indy happens, but with cuts. Muppets closes. RnRC closes. Disney drags its feet on Monstersland and RnRC replacement, both opening with big cuts (particularly to Muppets replacement) much later then expected.

I have no idea what happens in MK.

I missed this conversation, but allow me to make some devils advocate counterpoints.

This is not the first time we’ve done this. Tron would have been the perfect project to mothball on the very similar March 2018 rollout. It was unaffected, the build was actually quite rapid during that window.

Second, this is ‘a’ material. It’s not the project cost. It also won’t even manifest as a full 25% hike on steel as there is some internal blending with internal supplies.

Even if all those things were true, I really don’t see how attraction overlay projects are that exposed. Particularly Indy, the Muppets show replacement and RnRC.

If we go full hog on not just steel… well then Disney still has the option to rotate out of the domestic market where costs are lower. More cruise ships you say?

I like @Casper Gutman and his posts, but I'm starting to bookmark "nothing is going to be built" so I can bring it up in a few years. Either I or him will eat massive crow here.

I also don't want to hear any goalposts moving when lands don't match the concept art. We all know that some elements won't make the final product.

I’ll eat crow that I still think Villains is clearly a 2029 project… which I believe is even faster than you and Jason were betting.

Of course there are always world events, but this executive leadership has not yet walked back announced projects… which even includes weird things like the Bugs life replacement that I very much believe Chapek would have announced and subsequently buried in his role.

Look I like your posts and I generally agree with you on most things so please don’t take this personally but when did he ever say nothing will be built? He’s just mentioning the possibility that there are budget cuts I hope he’s wrong and the current situation all blows over within a couple months but seems like he’s just speculating to me

Thanks, I enjoy your posts as well. (and many of Casper's posts too)

If you review his posts he admits that things might be built, but with cuts everywhere. He's definitely on record that Villains Land won't be built. He also thinks that MV3D is being shuttered because of operational costs. There's plenty here that believe that as well.

The fact he's bringing up macro points (tariff's) to support his perspective, makes me think he's rooting for it. If another pandemic happens or we get involved with a World War (God forbid), I could see most of the projects going away too. Macro elements doesn't really make me him right or wrong here IMO.

again I don’t think it’s wrong to think that there could be budget cuts I don’t think muppet vision 3d is closing because of of operational costs thank you for responding

I think if Muppets was closing early because of operational costs, we’d see more things close. They gave Dinosaur another year when it almost certainly requires more money to run than Muppets.

They’re also closing Mama Melrose & PizzeRizzo. I figure both of those generate revenue, even if they aren’t the most popular restaurants in the park. Heck, Melrose is even closing EARLIER than MuppetVision. I’m not convinced that it’s a budgetary decision.

Yes this was my point as well.

If nothing is happening in the land near time of the closures and it sits dormant for months, maybe they have a point. I don't see it.

Also if they end up opening Monsters theater show first before the door coaster that would also counter their argument.

Unfortunately, Tropical Americas seems to have already lost the pink river around Encanto shown in 2023. Hopefully that's the main missing element

It was also supposed to be a boat ride per @marni1971 at one point and now it leans to an omnimover-like system.
I’m very intrigued by the omimover. I was sure it was going to a trackless dark ride. But this could end up being better. a (presumably) slow moving omimover would have to have more depth of scenery. not that the trackless rides are bad but it’s exciting that end result might be closer to haunted mansion than mystic manor although that would have been awesome too.

Goats pooped on my feet at Rafiki's Planet Watch when I was six. It was my first disgruntling experience.

Replace it with Beastly Kingdom.
I was at Rafiki's Planet Watch in 2024, very sad, only a few animals. A shell of its former self.

This is Disney's plan. make an area worse and worse, then replace it.
