This is why Disney will retain the crown. A super loyal fan base. I am sure there are Disney fans who wont set foot in EPIC because its Universal. I think this is exactly why Disney is not worried about EPIC

I cant speak for folks who kiss the ground, I enjoy both Disney and Universal. There are changes Universal Orlando made I dislike, the loss of Disaster to the awful F&F to name one!

Maybe its just my perception, it seems Universal is constantly opening new things, maybe its because I am not focused on Universal as I am of Disney.
I have not been to Universal since the first section os Harry Potter at IOA opened... I keep meaning to go back and see the more complete 2-park Harry Potter universe...but just have not made it there...we always focus on Disney...but I feel like that is going to be changing with Epic... At least for a while while Disney is under construction for the next decade....

I think MK will retain the crown as most visited in 2025 and maybe even 2026 because of the loyal fan base. There is a movement on social media to recruit folks to go to WDW on the day EIPC opens as a show of loyalty.

It will be interesting to see what happens,

Disney cares not a fig about loyalty...there are enough people to fill the property even with Epic... I am hoping Epic does well and begins their Phase 2 additions... and it's success causes Disney to have a creative Renaissance....lol

I agree, Disney does not care about the loyalty, but they recognize it exists and that is why they are not worried.

Only numbers will force Disney to react. After seeing they can’t keep Tiana working, the terrible job they are doing with the ground lighting in EPCOT, I fear all the institutional knowledge is gone and when the numbers force them to respond, they just won’t have the talent to do it.

I am really worried about what we will end up with in the new Cars land in MK.

I sincerely hope I am wrong and that Disney can rise to the occasion.

Preferring Disney over Uni and being loyal to Disney is a totally fine and understandable stance to have. In the dark ride category specifically Disney obliterates Uni imo. But it’s just as important to realize that Uni gives Disney good competition and that competition is good for both disney and us as fans.

Villains land doesn’t suddenly become Imagineering's top priority if Disney doesn’t see the strong online reactions to Dark Universe.

I agree that Disney will only react (spend resources and money) when they are forced to. But it will be THE NUMBERS that will force their hand, not social media.

Like boxing, the defending champ can sit on the ropes and the challenger must to come to the champ to take the belt.

Lets see what happens.

I don't think there is much of a chance MK is not the most visited park for the foreseeable future. At least in Orlando. It has a 6 million person lead over Islands, which is basically neck and neck with the other WDW parks.

MK is essentially "Orlando" for everyone. I know us hardcore fans will disagree and complain about how Disneyland is the far superior product, but Cinderella Castle will always be the icon of the theme park industry in Orlando (and the world honestly).

Epic Universe will battle with Epcot/IOA/DHS as Orlando's 2nd most popular park. This is why Disney is looking to invest in all of their parks in the next 10 years. They know the battle will be fierce for the non-MK parks.

I think you are right.

Going into 2025, even with Big thunder down, and Tiana mostly down, MK will still draw the crowds because the average fan does not know any better and must hit the MK at least once in a vacation.

TriceraTop Spin Disassembly Begins as Construction Walls Go Up at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Any idea what they'll do with it? I know we've armchair imagineered on here that it would do well as a Trixie spinner in TSL, but I don't think any insiders have hinted that's even in the realm of possibility.

What really bums me out is how DINOSAUR becoming yet another Indy attraction adds to the homogenization of the parks.

When I first visited WDW in 2007, I was super excited for DINOSAUR. It ended up being one of the absolute highlights of my trip. I’ll never forget my first ride through, the absolute terror I felt being in the driver’s seat when the Carnosaur began to “chase” the vehicle from the left.

What made it special, and what separated WDW from DL where I grew up, is that things weren’t shared between parks. WDW didn’t have Indy, they had DINOSAUR. It felt special, unique. It was quite literally one of many exclusive attractions that made me want to go and visit WDW despite DL being a 20 minute drive from my parent’s place.

Sure, the upcoming Indy will have a “different” story than the one in DL but I wonder to myself: if it had always been Indy, if all the WDW attractions were just minor deviations from their DL counterparts, would I have felt as much need to visit back in ‘07? Probably not. “Bah, we have Indy here and there’s another in Tokyo” is what I’d probably have said.

It’s a shame, really, that many of the parks continue their slow march into generic, brand loyalty centers at the cost of their original identities.

If you want to see dinosaurs go to Universal.

I see the removal of Dinoland USA as Disney conceding that they no longer have the creative ability to make some of the most popular and incredible creatures ever to walk the Earth work in their parks.

I guess just because they aren’t able to stick a (TM) towards the end of the species names? Or because there isn’t some upcoming movie or Disney+ show to tie them into?

Weak.

When I was there during my 2 week start of December trip there was times it was at 90 minutes
I've gotten in line when it's said 45 and 60 minutes and it's been 20, last September was my most recent ride.

You also went during what has become a rather busy time of year. Was it an actual 90 minute wait or was that just what you saw as you walked by? Curious, not accusing.

I feel the opposite. It seems Disney is moving away from that. There were no clones announced at the last D23. Magic Kingdom is going to feel the most different from Disneyland it ever has, rather than the relatively worse version it has been for most of its existence. Even if people don't like the additions, there were definitely options for cloning they intentionally chose not to do.

The latter. Because they tried and failed. After two dinosaur movies and a Dinoland that was not lovingly embraced, it was time to call it quits.

Especially, since Universal did make successful dino movies. If Disney tried *another* dino movie, they'd be called out for for just following Uni. And imagine if that movie failed... yikes.

This was a time when Disney failed with regard to a specific genre. Uni wins on dinos. Disney wins on princesses. You play the hand you have.

And if you want Disney to double down on dinos in the parks without a merchandising theatrical tie-in... well... that's not going to happen. There are plenty of successful movies that suffice for park tie-ins and merchandising and franchising without using dinos.
