News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

From a theoretical/numbers perspective, Tropical America won't add any additional capacity to the park. However, more guests will be interested in the attractions. For example, while many here disagree, Energy Adventure was not a very popular attraction with park guests. So while it had great hourly capacity (nearly 2K an hour), probably a quarter of it was used. Same with Figment today, rarely do you see queues for it anymore.

I'm expecting Encanto & Indiana Jones to actually use the majority of the capacity available throughout the day.
Unless they break it (like they did with Tiana) when they reskin dinosaur to Indy, capacity will be the same for that attraction.

The capacity of Encanto is an unknown. We hope it has a higher capacity than Primeval Whirl.

Also, standby may be GONE for both of these.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Crazy idea: water parade that starts and ends by going around the useless arena so that you don't have to worry about limited viewing space on the actual river.

I was assured people adored the flotillas back when those came around (before they ditched them entirely and no one seemed to give a care). Repurpose the boats; the novelty of a water-based parade might even get people to forgive if it looks cheap!

Arena used + day time entertainment + no animal issue excuse.

Hard to get over the hurdle of "Why bother?" though.

I agree, but will this actually add capacity to the park? I have my doubts.

It may have the opposite effect. AK will have the same (or some may say less) capacity, and a lot more folks will want to go to AK to see the new land.

It will be interesting to watch.
I think it will boost capacity in the end.

I’ve seen some people compare this to Hollywood Studios in that they view this as them making the park top heavy, but I actually don’t think that’s what is going to happen with this.

In terms of the pure numbers game, Animal Kingdom is losing one low capacity spinner and gaining in its place a carrousel which will have a comparable capacity to the spinner as well as a big new E ticket that at minimum will have a higher capacity and, depending on the ride system, will have a maximum that may be the largest capacity on the park.

Now, capacity in theme parks is of course more than just space for guests on rides, it’s also about how guests move about the park and this is where I think Animal Kingdom’s secret weapon comes into play. Animal Kingdom is a big and spread out park with none of its headliners sitting right next to each other. The attractions are spaced out, and along the way there’s various crowd sucking points such as the shows, trails, and train to Conservation Station.

Unlike Hollywood Studios where everything is stacked on top of each other thus disrupting crowd dispersement, Animal Kingdom’s layout keeps people moving. With Dino Land being the runt, yes it put added stress on the other E-ticket corners of the park, but Tropical Americas creates a balance. There will now be a major attraction or two in every section in all 4 corners of the park with lots of diversions in between.

Tropical Americas will be swamped at first, but I think over time we’ll see the park settle into a balance with no one land bearing the total brunt of the park’s guests like Pandora does now.

Do they still have the drummers on the boats? I know for a bit last year. If so, the boats are definitely around for the floatillas to come back.

Does anyone know what'll happen to the meet and greets when Dinoland closes properly next year? Donald, Daisy, Pluto, Goofy and Chip & Dale have met there since Camp Minnie Mickey closed and will need to be relocating

I see your points but I have my doubts the Encanto attraction will have a higher capacity than Primeval Whirl.

If I remember correctly Primeval Whirl had two constantly loading queues.

And we must also consider standby may be GONE for both Encanto and Indy, both going to LL and (maybe VQs).

When folks lose the VQ lottery, they end up just walking around.... Well there is always food and merch....

Primevil Whirl had a relatively low capacity. Encanto will be higher capacity.

Even if one or both use VQ when they open it won’t be forever.
