I don’t think it’s happening, unfortunately. Play scape instead.
They make an entire continent for an animal park and they don't even have animals. I'm fully convinced the Disney execs only care about the brand synergy and didn't let the imagineers add animals to the land because there's no direct ROI.

Wait until they pave over Kilimanjaro safaris for a lion king ride. We know it’s coming at this point.

>make land utilizing the region that has the Amazon Rainforest, home to one of the diversity hotspots in nature
>No animals

lmaooooo

i still think we'll see Capybaras eventually but I'm disappointed animal-wise if these are close to final/final plans.

No animals in Disney's Animal Kingdom featured in the land that in real life contains the most bio diversity on the planet.

Animals need taking care of and they can't sell ILL to them.

I'd honestly be surprised to see any new live animal exhibits going into the park about animals ever again.

I'm sure there are swaths of management that would love to downsize what they already have there, now.

I’m willing to let the “no animals” slide only because it sounded like an either/or scenario.

It’s important for this (and every) park to have a themed playground IMO.

There’s really no where else you could put one without taking another attraction offline or reconfiguring backstage roads, something that’s not very realistic for a project of that small scale.

An Amazon Rainforest River Safari would be amazing though tbh.
See, that's the frustrating thing about this project. A Tropical Americas/South America land at Animal Kingdom has the potential to be great if they focused on the animals of that region/continent. But nope, instead we get two attractions based on franchises starring humans.

After studying the permit set, I am going with the following...

View attachment 823008

The "Possible Animal Exhibit" is the new play area, probably Mayan themed. Allegedly.

The blue buildings with the current Dinorama restrooms are restrooms and a new character greeting venue. Allegedly.

The Carousel will also be the DVC kiosk location, as well as covered queue area. Allegedly.

The long, rectangular blue area across from the kiosk is supposedly part of the village theming. Allegedly.

And the circular thing on the path into the land is the new fountain. Allegedly.

It's almost as if this land wasn't originally designed with the sizable trail space some of the other lands have. 🤔

I mean, it's disappointing, but they're reusing most of the infrastructure, and there wasn't much there for the animals. I'd prefer preserving the attraction count with the play area in this instance. The one habitat that was in Dinoland was a nothingburger.
I haven't been to Animal Kingdom in over a decade, but I remember there was a fairly large and empty shaded area near Dinosaur. It looked like an area where they planned to build more animal exhibits but ran out of time and/or money to complete.

How long until the fountain becomes a planter?

I don't believe that Animal Kingdom needs new live animal exhibits, IMO this is not the future. As long as the park is about animals and their environment then that's fine, it can be done without live animals (erm, Dinosaur, Kali, Everest...). Remains to be seen how well Encanto and Indiana Jones can do this.

What's crazy is that Joe Rohde sold the idea of Animal Kingdom by bringing a live tiger into the board room. Encounters with real animals are exciting and engaging. Whether they have animals or not in CA remains to be seen, but it would be disappointing if there are none.

TBH, the way things seem to go, it may end up one before it is finished.....maybe they could put lights in the pavement around it..... oh wait, nevermind....
A large plaza fountain would be a beautiful addition... something nice about moving water... visually cooling in what is the hottest of the Theme parks.

Are you referring to the area that pathways from Dinosaur’s exit to the gas-station themed gift shop?
