Story, Interior queue, Artifact change, complete different ride scenery, effects, lighting and more. Basically the track and vehicle is the same and a few other similarities. I would say 80% new ride.

Interesting, I never knew it had that many differences from Disneylands. I assumed it was an exact clone. I have a feeling animal kingdom will be unique in its own right then

Artifact, lightning on walls, Indy, interior reveal, mummies, bugs, bridge, snakes, behind giant face. Other than that I can’t make out what’s in dark before the darts(?) and boulder (also shared). That’s a lot less tan 80%

At the end of the day Kali River Rapids and Avatar have nothing to do with animals (though they do support the conservation theme)

it’s incredibly similar to the Disneyland version

Well if you want to break it down...

The entire queue as there is no train tracks to go under
First scene not based on three doors and choices and the whole room is different
Assent hill room with all new scenery and a crystal skull idol (No Mara)
First door scene with Indy is new lighting and effects and scenery
Entrance to Skull room makes it look like your going down temple stairs not just a track
All new scenery in Skull room and effect/lighting
Skull is different
Over the bridge in center room is a smoke tornado
Snake room the scenery is different
Snake is different
Inside skull is new scenery, lighting and idol
Temple god that blows smoke ring at you as you ride through it
Blow dart room complete different

So is it the same ride, for sure it has a good majority of similarities. Is it different than Disneyland's? Yes about 80 percent of everything has changed in some way or another. I'm speaking of details and the look. OLC would not allow a carbon copy exactly.

"Welcome to a kingdom of animals... real, ancient, and imagined: a kingdom ruled by lions, dinosaurs, and dragons; a kingdom of balance, harmony, and survival; a kingdom we enter to share in the wonder, gaze at the beauty, thrill at the drama, and learn."Michael D. Eisner, April 22, 1998

There is no reason that a Tropical Americas land cannot fully embrace the original dedication of the park. I think it’s also possible to have rides or attractions within that land that feature characters from Encanto and Indian Jones and still have the land be on theme. It all depends on the execution. I don’t think this is planned to be 2 IP based lands jammed together in an area of the park and if it is then that’s probably a disappointment.

What is the difference between Disneyland and Tokyo’s Indiana Jones rides? Other than the name change
I don't really remember but I just remember while Disneyland's was very fun Tokyo's was a bit better. The whole lost delta area in Disney Sea is very well done. Epcot still has a cartoonish look in World Showcase whereas when posting photos in Disneysea I had friends who legitimately thought I was in Italy and Mexico respectively lol

Indiana Jones needs to be at DHS.
Get rid of the stunt show, which is currently a shell of its former self. No audience participation, no guns, the exploding truck has been removed, the German airplane mechanic gag is gone, etc.

Replace it with an IJ water coaster/splashdown dark ride featuring vehicles in the form of duck boats.

Encanto needs to be in Adventureland, replacing the Swiss Family Treehouse.
While I would miss the treehouse, it’s evident that Disney parks don’t consider even their best rides sacred (RIP Splash), the Robinson’s need to be evicted from valuable real estate.

I'd argue Moana is the better Adventureland fit, and cutting it from Animal Kingdom makes more sense if that's ever a direction they want to go. Also, I'd personally level Jungle Cruise before the Treehouse since it's redundant with Animal Kingdom in general and takes up a ton of space, whereas the Treehouse is incredibly compact and a lovely different kind of attraction.

Would Moana still be a flume ride? Because then you've got Tiana and Pirates sandwiching it, and that's a lot of water for one corner of the park. I guess that doesn't stop IOA from doing the same with Jurassic Park, Dudley Do-Right, and Popeye.

Moana could be a lot of things. I'd agree probably not a flume anymore if there, but it didn't sound like they had solid plans anyway. But Jungle Cruise is big enough that you could do multiple things. I've kind of always wanted a Cave of Wonders over there too, though that could also feasibly fit into the villains area depending upon how they frame it up.

There was that Moana tiki room rumor floating around a few years ago. With them touching CBJ and canceling Moana at AK, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s back in play (though I’d rather it not be)

I feel like this one is more solid...Vaughn was not in the picture for the last bluesky, clearly he has done some major retooling in Imagineering for the better thankfully if it can all get pushed through, it sounds much more concrete compared to the last, will see.
Which got me thinking - was Barbara Bouza present at any of these panels? Or mentioned or shown in the videos?

I’m going to leave this here for anyone curious enough to see how to properly incorporate IP into this park. It’s a 30 minute watch but worth it.

I doubt the Imagineers heading this up will take as much care.

I still want to know the exact circumstances behind Joe Rhode’s departure, though I’m sure those will be hidden for the next 25-30 years behind a whole host of NDAs.

Perhaps it’s my pessimistic attitude about the current state of TWDC, but I can’t help but think that Rhode was approached with these IP ideas after he successfully launched Pandora: World of Avatar, but when he had the audacity to disagree with the corporate mooks, they offered him a juicy retirement package just to get him out of the way.

again, this is just speculation on my part. Broke my heart when Rhode left. He was the last real superstar of WDI.

Wow, someone else who would be in favor of demolishing Jungle Cruise! I feel like every time I suggest it as a possibility there's almost universal condemnation here.

Obviously it's not something they need to do right now while they have unused expansion plots and abandoned spaces, but yes -- redundant, a massive plot of land that could potentially be used for multiple attractions and/or shops and dining, and, well... just not very good.

I've been thinking about that myself. I know he must have rolled his eyes and wrestled with the idea of Pandora going into Animal Kingdom when it was first proposed, but then I'm guessing he said down and properly thought about the intrinsic message between avatar and the park and found some common ground.

I follow him on Instagram and I've wanted to approach him regarding his thoughts about the current IP's blue skied for the park. Not sure if I'd ever get an answer, though.
