I was responding to your message, "Is this a joke thread?" which came before (and so was obviously not a response to) the quote you mentioned from ocolectr. I did read the thread, but should have listed the quote I was responding to, so I apologize for that.
I agree that Song of the South is not in the same league as Emperor's New Groove. Neither are Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast. I would use the word "genre" instead of league, though. LK, Aladdin, BandtheB, Little Mermaid -- none of em -- were intended to be hysterical comedies. ENG wasn't intended to be a heart warming drama with lush, moving musical scores and melodic songs or groundbreaking animation technology. That's what people were expecting, and when they didn't get it they didn't like the movie.
By the way, my family watches Fantasia 2000 more than any of the other Disney movies. The kids love it. How much money did that make? I would call it a great movie. Is it?
