Emotional Whirlwind Grand Opening & Ride Reviews - Let's Get Excited!

I’m sad for people that take this stance. Missing some of the best rides and most well themed areas of the entire resort to prove their “theme park knowledge superiority”. 😉
I've been to DCA several times (and actually went last summer as I was gifted park hoppers). I hate traveling between the parks and, with the exception of Soarin' over California, Grizzly River Run, and Radiator Springs Racers, there's nothing interesting over there as far as rides are concerned. Sure, Buena Vista Street is lovely, but that's not enough to keep me at the park. There's too much offensive content to keep me out and not enough desirable content to lure me in. Not going to DCA is a pretty easy way for me to save my money.

Man, the negativity in the DLR section of the forum makes the WDW section look like a bunch of Pixie Dusters.

I know, isn't it great?! Real people talking about the real nitty-gritty of this sometimes messy industry, using proper historical perspectives of Walt Disney's goals for his park mixed with unique and eclectic current day insights, which helps us peel back the smarmy Social Media hype that oozes from Celebration cubicle farms as "Disney" tries to spin everything they do as fabulous and fun.

And many of us are even intecual.

Can you explain this more, please?
The premise of Buena Vista Street is that it is Los Angeles when Walt Disney was newly arrived from Kansas City. The references throughout are supposed to be the “inspiration” to many of his works, but these references go beyond allusion to be very specific things that were directly copied by Walt Disney in this romanticized telling. Oswald’s gas station uses the actual design of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, meaning Walt Disney stole the character from this gas station.

Gotcha thanks

I was actually in the second loading group of this ride on Friday. I'm embarrassed. I mean I don't hate it. It has zero footprint and is something else to do for small kids.

so just came back from a getaway in Europe and saw the pictures for this emotional whirlwind ride. In my opinion even though they did a decent job with this addition i sitll feel they missed an opportunity to add something more in that large helix. With that said I do hate that they didn't follow thru with their concept art and instead left a huge awkward piece of concrete from the original platform. All the greenery that surrounded the fencing and figures is missing and makes that section look bland and what will be a hot sore when the heat swells o the triple digits. The same goes for the lack of trees that should have been placed around the new themed benches.

i have a feeling that to save some money they will end up going back and having to spend more to fix that mistake.

Thank you. This is what is wrong! I've watched the videos and I just couldn't put my finger on why I thought Flik's Flyers was better. You've nailed it - the shade! What really made A Bug's Land worth anything was the large amount of trees and plants. It was a pleasant land to visit, even if the rides were nothing special. Who, in the name of Portland cement, thought that anyone is going to want to sit on a bunch of blobby concrete benches in the sun?? Botany makes everything better. Disney, plant some trees!

To be fair, Emotional Whirlwind only carries 350-400 guests per hour. So if the Haunted Mansion or Millennium Falcon have a sustained wait at all, they’re already more popular than EW no matter what its wait time is 😜

I guess I just don't see the harm. What else are you going to cram into that footprint? Something beats nothing and unfortunately not many toddlers have accounts here to advocate for their interests.

Disney decision makers have no idea what it’s like to be in a theme park and have to deal with the sun. Same thing happened with the Lion King show. They had to move the show times to later in the day because they had the stage and seats out in the open with zero shade and I guess forgot that the sun gets hot?

Something doesn’t beat nothing. This just excuses any decision. Themed experiences are highly designed, not just an assortment of stuff that fills space.

See also, Toy Story Land and it’s lack of shade and seating.
