Ellen's Energy Adventure technical problems

All of Future World's problems cannot be solved with a hotel and convention center. In fact it may make things worse. One of the biggest problems I find with Future World is the crowds all flood to Soarin and Test Track. UoE takes up a lot of space, enough to add a great new E-Ticket to help the spread of crowds.

Plus, a skyscraper in the middle of Epcot would just be an eyesore.

Soarin', Test Track and M:S are the big draws and they are all 'new' attractions. The hotel is not the solution but it could be a first step in revitalizing the area. And who am I to second guess someone like Mr Sotto?

PS- There was going to be a skyscraper in the middle of Walt's EPCOT. So.....

Soarin and M:S are 7 years old, not even close to new. Do you have a source to what Eddie Sotto said? Because I have a feeling your plan and his have some major differences.

Walt's EPCOT had the skyscraper as the wienie, having is now would distract from Spaceship Earth.

Why do so many want a hotel built in Epcot? (Im glad it was shelved) All of the sudden this park has become a convention space/drinking fest and or wasted space all together instead of a park with attractions or anything new. Next up Imagination will become a new convention space if the trend continues. We know they dont like spending on attractions but sometimes I think they dont know what to do anymore with the spaces they have, its almsot like they have given up, unless they can add booze or a meetngreet. Or is it just TDO saying no to everything unless its cheap city.

New as in they replaced original attractions or were not part of EPCOT Center. That is why I used quotes. I am sure if you asked Eddie about it in his thread he would be more than happy to discuss it and reference the blog that discusses possible options for FW. They do differ from what I am saying. They would also face difficulties getting those ideas green lit.

Carsland got approved because it could be shown to be able to pay for itself. That is Rule #1 these days for any project. Thank Harry Potter and Cars. That is the new business model for any large project. It has to make sense financially.

TDO has little or no say over large scale investments anymore.

Well that would be a good thing now I would think. So when or if Imagination or Energy etc ever do get redone, TDO cant say no, when Burbank decides to they will do it?

The new person they brought in may be more trusted and have more leverage than those who were running things. We will know at the announced announcement if things have changed.

I just remembered that the name of the blog is "Progress City". Might want to google it.

I would love to be escorted out after the dinosaurs. :)

And while we're at it, here's my twenty page armchair imagineering plan to rescue Energy and save EPCOT that I know you are all just dying to read and

Is it bad that I'd actually like to hear your plan for Energy and Epcot? Haha

Energy's a tough one because its presentation style is still one of the most impressive at WDW, but at the same time presents problems with ever-shortening attention plans, as well as people standing up and causing E-stops. Many have also noted that a bigger guest draw might also be a good choice for Epcot. I think a very interesting debate could be had between updating the ride in its current form (SSE) or scrapping the ride system completely and finding another use for the building (WOM/Test Track).
