Ellen needs to become prehistoric, in other words GONE!

I love UoE. I liked the old version, but most people thought it was too academic. The new version is both entertaining, but also informative. I don't think the ride is too long, it is a great way to get out of the heat for 45 minutes. I don't think they should replace UoE for a thrill ride...not every ride in future would needs to be a thrill ride, it does not make for a well-rounded park.

Updating UoE now would be a waste of money, esp when other pavilions (WoL, TLS, Innoventions) could use the investment more.

Say, Instead, Just Tear Down The Whole Attration! Energy Isn't The Best Topic.. So, Make It A New Pavilion (with thrill ride)! Or, Keep The Building, Change Topic, Slap In ALOT More AAs In The Theaters, More Interactivity, Etc..
Sorry If I Sound Sarcastic, But, It Seems Like It's What You Guys Want.. But It's Not Bad Ideas At All.. I Mean, A Newer One, With Different Topic, And More AAs, Is Good Enough To Be A Classic.. But Though, I Think They'll Stick w/ The Ellen Edition.. I Liked EEA.. Because Of The Moving Theater, Dinos, And Humor, But It's Just Out Of Date.. I Mean, There's Newer Energy Theorys..
Now, If We Were To Update It, Keep It Energy, And Have 2 Newer Stars, The Question Is, Who Will They Be? Will They Be Known 5 Years Later?
Over All, I Do Agree, Energy Needs A New Update..

i agree with that it would be a waste of money to do anything w/ it now espically with Mission Space and Test Track near by and Soarin' opening soon everyone will probaly just ride it anyways.
i mean my family and i just ride it to rest our feet and maybe take a nap from the busy day that is the only thing i find useful about this ride anymore.
i don't think it was useful for anything else in the past both versions are both as equally boring.
but its a good place to sleep:snore:

I, for one, happen to like the current Universe of Energy show. I tried watching a video of the old version a while ago and it was so boring (except the catchy songs). The current version is so much more engaging as a whole. Plus the attraction has such a unique ride/show system and makes a nice retreat from the heat and something to do while you're waiting for your FastPass time for MISSION: Space or Test Track to come up. It'd be a shame to see it torn down for just another thrill attraction.

As for the use of Ellen, I personally like her in it. It's just unfortunate that when most people see her now, all they can think about is "Lesbian!" instead of her just being a funny comedienne. I really like the preshow. Pretty well done. I especially like the part where she makes fun of the cast member giving the "No eating, drinking, smoking or flash photography in Ellen's Dream" speech. As for her popularity, it's on the rise with her role as Dory and her talk show, which won the Emmy this year for best Daytime Talk show.

The new ride is so much better than the old one. especially that “30” min snooze fest at the end of the ride showing how fuel work there wonders good I remember being 12 and wanting to get up and leave if I saw another oil tower or car driving across the road.

Oh I know...the way they had it before was dreadful. Felt like I was in school or something.

I still don't like it. I think the actual ride part with the dinosaurs is cool, but the preshow and the postshow about kill me. I normally skip this attraction.

Joe I agree with you, when some people think of Ellen, they think lesbian. However, if you take time to watch her show and listen to her, she is soooo hysterical and a spectacle to watch. It's just a shame that some people are prejudice that way. Sorry, I know it's a bit political I just get up in arms when people judge bc of orientation

UoE is cute with the little bit Ellen AND Bill Nye the Science Guy do. Its good for the topic they have to work with, which is energy...kind of a rough topic...haha....

Maybe they need to revamp the ride just having to do with dinosaurs....a bit educational and a bit fun! The ride is a bit too darkgiving the illusion there is nothing to see. So much can be done with dinosaurs, especially since there are already so many in the ride. But, the radio tower part NEEDS to be taken out...it makes me wanna get sick...haha...Maybe the ride needs more of an adventure feel to it...I don't know...my opinion thats all....

I say it's time to move on with something else.

Wow, I'm amazed at some of the stupid comments on this thread...

As for Ellen's popularity, she is HUGE right now with her talk show which has fantastic ratings and won an emmy.

I can't remember the old version, but I heard that it was extremely boring, because the shows were just as long as they are now, except that they were just slideshows with a speech in the background. I probably would have hated it, because that's exactly what I can't stand about Hall of Presidents. I like the new one okay, but I usually skip it. It's not good enough, in my opinion, to spend 45 minutes on. I wouldn't mind if they built a new dark ride in the building, themed to energy. Especially if it were an omnimover, I'd like to see some injected back into the park. I don't know if the building has enough room to house one, but it could possibly have enough.

P.S. I personally think that celebrities shouldn't play such a large role in an attraction, no matter wh they are. I believe that Disney is a way to get away from the real world, not just see it in a different way.

I have no problem with lesbians concidering my mom is one, and still don't think an Ellen ride belongs in Epcot.

It would be one thing if she was just the narrator, but it's about her hence the name. It wasn't know as walter Cronkite's Spaceship Earth. I even have a problem with bill nye being in there, but he is a scientist so it still fits more.

You can be as talented and popular in your specific field, but that doesn't mean they should have a ride in a themepark land themed to the future.

Heck, create a character and let Ellen do the voice, like they did for Robin Williams in Timekeeper. You see what I'm sayin?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to accuse anyone on here of being a homophobe. I was thinking more of the comments I would hear from other guests when I went on the attraction.

but most people thought it was too academic.

Academic? It was just a plug for Exxon! Anything BUT academic! Not that the new one is perfect, but at least they are a little subtle about it.

One major problem with the whole thing is that it is still trying to talk about energy in terms of traditional power generation and oil. There has been such a change in how we percieve that stuff over the last few years, that it is no longer all that current. I also think that it gets too involved in trying to create a atory and forgets about the actual ride.

They should change it to just reflect Dinosaurs or petroleum and forget about trying to be all energy.

Before moving to Orlando in March, the last time I went on the ride was 1997..I think that was around the same time she decided to come out on tv. I remember people booing when they saw she was part of the attraction. I DO remember the old version being very stale at the end. Of course, I was in my early teens then and anything that was educational was pretty boring to me in general. I like Ellen and see her show sometimes but I think EXXON needs to re-vamp this ride soon or it's gonna end up the way Horizons and Wonders of Life will end up. WOF is only open seasonally now and of course Horizons is RIP.

Thoughts?

Although the ExxonMobil signs are still up, ExxonMobil ended their sponsorship earlier this year.

Hess, the new gas sponsor at WDW, put their sponsorship on some new fields being built at the Wide World of Sports.

I had to pipe up here. Whoever told you this was so wrong. The original theatre 1 and 2 shows, plus the finale and preshow were all proper films... the theatre 1 show was I believe the largest size animated film at its time, and the finale the larget CG film ever. Plus, the theatre 2 show was a proper 3x35mm extravaganza, soom of this footage is still used in the Ellen version.

The pavillion and ride system has so much scope - lets hope for a refurb soon (In the UK we had never even heard of Ellen...), and remember, EPCOT Center was designed to `Inform, educate and inspire`. If you don`t like the pace of Energy, try next door but one!

why did you have to say that? I think that was inappropriate. I think everyone on here has handled themselves with a great maturity. Nobody here has mentioned anything negative about Ellen nor that the reason that we want her to stay or go.

Please let it go and stay on topic.
