Ellen needs to become prehistoric, in other words GONE!

I love UoE, but it needs something. I'm thinking new AA's, because after riding Dinosaur, the ones in UoE just seem blah.

P.S. What is the really dark room at the end supposed to be? All I remember is that it is pitch black and Bill Nye is talking. What is it?

Wow, I'm amazed at some of the stupid comments on this thread...

As for Ellen's popularity, she is HUGE right now with her talk show which has fantastic ratings and won an emmy.

In that case, I have a few ideas to pitch to you...

Jessica Simpson's Great Muppet Caper

Clay's Philharmagic

Rock's Great Escape

And I know they aren't really popular, but how about...

The Hall of Baldwins.

I like Ellen in this pre-show. I also like Ellen as an entertainer. And I like her in the ride before she became "Ellen" the emmy award winning talk show host. I feel she's funny and has the cutest voice...and come on, this kind of history bores us in the classroom. When I ride this attraction, I am far from being bored. Ellen actually keeps me awake because she's funny! But most of all, the ride is educational...with funny aspects. I think kids enjoy it. I think she should stay! LOL :D

Hey, The More AAs Were My Idea.. Heh, Sorry.. Any How, I Do Agree That They Do Need To Update It.. Either A New Person(s) Or Have Ellen Do A Voice (so no one in the future will really care..)..

About The AAs.. Here's What I Think.. Have AAs In The Theaters (hidden), And When They Talk About That Person, Or Something, (s)He Pops Up And Acts.. And Hey, Have The Characters On Film Pop Out The Screen In AA Form.. Something Like That.. Really, Flat Boring Screens For 85% Of The Show.. No..

And More Audience Interactivity (special effects, actual humans..)!

i think given that the topic of the ride is ENERGY, it doesn't make for a very easy creative representation. UoE does it fair justice and adding a storyline opposed to simply saying: "fossil fuels are a form of energy" and leaving it at that decreases the bordom factor a little bit. i did it just for the sake of doing it and i had some time to kill. the a/c felt good and the dinosaur part was kinda cool. i do think ellen adds a little touch of humor or entertainment to what could be a mind-numbing lesson about energy.

I usually skipped Universe of Energy because I wasn't a big Ellen fan, but on my most recent trip I went to the park 1 1/2 hours early before a dinner function to experience it.

From then on I have become a big Ellen fan. I really like her sense of humor and cracked up during the entire attraction. I also enjoy her talk show. She is quite popular now due to her talk show and her role in Finding Nemo, so I don't forsee any major rehabs for Universe of Energy in the near future.

I kind of miss the whole Future World educational information rides. I liked the old UofE. I do like the new version but it is missing something. It seems too "retrofitted".

I don't think Gay actavists will be up in arms over a removal, I mean, she came out 8 years ago, back when the ride was just built. Anway...

I really like EEA a lot, and with the constatly filled theater and laughing audience, I think the GP does too. I think this is just another case of 'I hate this ride, let's remove it' syndrome. I also hate Indiana Jones Stunt Show, but I don't want it removed. I think Ellen does a great job of making a really boing show entertaining and well done. Plus the pre-show music and pre-ride music is really good!

As for the talk show... who really watches that?

Every single day. And if I won't be home, I'll tape it. I even made my schedule last semester to work around her show so I could see it every day.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I love her, and I think she's really funny. I love the retro appeal of Ellen and Bill Nye, and I think they should keep the ride. I know the next time I go, I'm going to record the whole show, because who knows how long It'll be there?

I really enjoy EUOE. I think the ride system itself is worth the time. I remember the first time I was in there and the theatre started moving -- what a RUSH !! I just thought it was going to be a movie -- but it ended up being much more.

As far as Ellen goes, she is genuinely funny. And I am not one to tag the "funny" attribute lightly. She made "Finding Nemo" and she just has a wonderful sense of comic timing. This is more evident in the pre-show than in the attraction itself.

The only crticism I would agree with is that they could change the focus of "energy" away from petroleum, etc. There are other (more entertaining?) ways that energy could be portrayed.

I guess I am in the minority because I enjoy it BECAUSE it has some educational value. I thought part of the purpose of Epcot was to teach -- either about science or about other lands. I don't care as much for attractions that are "dumbed down" (see Test Track) for entertainment rather than education. But this is just my lowly opinion ...

"fossil fuels are a form of energy"

And the thing is that Fossil fuels are NOT a form of energy - they are a form of fuel, which can be used to generate energy.

There is so much they could do with either of the two topics - energy or fuel, but only if they actually focused on one and tried less to tie it into a corporate sponsorship. I mean, energy itself is what every thrill ride is based on. They could do some kind of kinetic themed roller coaster, there's energy in the form of heat and in the form of light. There is so much more they could do with the topic.

I think people who hate this ride must have either forgotten or never had to experience the atrocity that was the original universe of energy. One of the most unbelievably boring experiences of my entire life. It sucked kids in with dinosaurs, then made them sit through a horribly boring video.

I'm all for education in EPCOT, but please make it entertaining. After all, people are paying for this. If I wanted to just blandly learn about energy I could just get a book or look online for free.

This ride is my favorite ride in all of WDW. It rocks, the music rocks.

If they get rid of this ride I will stop going to Epcot, it is becoming an "Experimental Prototype Community of Thrills". If you need a thrill park, IOA, Busch Gardens, etc. aren't that far.

I agree. It was much better when the dino that was attacking her, attacked the audience. It added a little scare factor to the ride.

So in order to pacify the activists, they'll have to replace Ellen with Rosie O Donnel

With comments like that, I am now the president of the keep Ellen fan club!

We love the Universe of Energy--how can you beat comedy like, "I had a name for her in college, Stupid Judy--Stupid Judy, Stupid Judy." Ellen is just plain funny in the pre-show, and the ride is a relaxing break from the heat.
