I'm bumping this thread, because I'm writing a story that mentions it. Also, because I hope that Eddie magically reappears. Kind of like Mary Poppins.

SupercalifragilisticEPCOTalidocious!

Hey Gang. I saw this brief lecture and think it's worth watching as if you really wanna go next level in your thinking and live the future, think the way this guy does.

When I think about EPCOT and how entertainment design needs to be forward focused, approaching the fundamentals like this guy does is really where it's at. Preliminary, yes, but seriously the right direction. Beyond the iPad!

Welcome back!

And yes, that, but UNIFIED. Cohesive. Have the theme and aesthetics guide the story forward.

If FW at least looked Futuristic all together right now, it would be much better in thought.

Thanks for the link. I thought that weird little twisted up light string looked like The Flying Spaghetti Monster! Good to know that there are some Pastafarians working at WDW.

 Don't read into it too much. It was more of a joke than anything else.

@Eddie:

That video is great! Thanks!

Yeah but it is a joke I like and the whole Pastafarian Religion is intended to be a joke anyway. I have always described it as fighting crazy with an even bigger crazy.

I often think about it when I eat spaghetti and meatballs. :ROFLOL:

Whoa, way off topic. Sorry.

I'm so glad you posted that because I saw it a few days ago and thought it was very very EPCOT. The part where he dials the phone on his hand was wild. And the scanning the products at the grocery. All very cool - things I didn't know were possible.

BTW, Eddie, last week I named you as the must-hire EPCOT Czar of choice. So expect a call any day :)

Good to see you again Eddie. It looks like they thinking about using the Main Street Arcade idea for Disneyland.
From Micechat
Main Street Arcade
Details: Inside sources report a new themed arcade is being considered for the east side of Main Street, USA. The themed indoor throughfare would help ease crowd flow when overflow crowds are exiting the park during peak seasons and following fireworks and parade performances.
Project Status: Under consideration.

So they're considering constructing an arcade similar to the ones at Disneyland Paris? That would definitely help ease traffic on MSUSA. I'm curious as to how they would incorporate it into the area since there are backstage areas and numerous facades in the way.

Woah. It's those "inside sources" again. They are SO busy. I'm a pretty outside source as some have pointed out. News to me. Hmm, the Arcades in Paris are scaled to the WDW Facades and pretty roomy, like 15 feet wide. The Facades in Anaheim are considerably shorter and so the Arcade if there is one would likely be a more modest one. As I recall, it is really tight behind the JC, but anything is possible at Disneyland! . My guess is that they could justify it as more retail footage and it would kind of pay for itself.

Not suprised. I've spent time at your web site and viewed the menu etc. and came away very impressed. Definitely trend setting.

Congradulations.

CONGRATS!! Your place is on our list that we're going to dine at on our upcoming trip to DL. Greatly looking forward to it.

Since you're here... I do have a question.

A couple days ago, someone on another thread here pointed out a blog I had never seen before. I don't know if I can post the site here, but to get to it you just type in "Mesa Verde Times" in google.

Anyway, the basic plot line of the whole site is these couple guys who spent literally months jumping out of their ride vehicles and documenting literally every single detail of Horizons. They developed a whole system of how to do it without getting caught, how not to be seen by other guests, etc... And eventually got to the point of spending hours at a time in the attraction documenting every little detail.

Now... For the disclaimer... I DO NOT CONDONE LEAVING RIDE VEHICLES AT ANY TIME, AND I'M SURE MR. SOTTO IS OF THE SAME MIND. I would never do it (nor have the guts to), and more importantly, Horizons didn't seem to have any security systems in place, which I'm sure is very much the exception to the rule. So... Don't try it at home, kids.

But I'm wondering, looking beyond that, if an imagineer really looks at what they've done and thinks "wow, that's pretty cool", almost in a flattered way... Or do you take offense that the rules weren't followed because that's not how the "show" is to be viewed, or somewhere in the middle?

And if you don't want to put your real thougts into the public space here, I'd love to hear what you thought in a Private Message and you'd have my word it wouldn't be repeated. :D

I, for one, am FACINATED by the blog. Absolutely fascinated. Like, yesterday I hardly got anything done at work here because I couldn't pull my eyes away from it. I love the peek behind the curtain. Love to see all the thought that imagineers had to put into the attraction. Love to see how they achieved some of the effects. And even loved to see how, in some scenes (hidden to guests), the imagineers had a "dark" side.

And I'm glad that someone documented an attraction that was bulldozed like this, too.

Anyway, I'd love to know what you REALLY think about something like that.

EDIT TO ADD: They point out in the blog that some of the IP addresses of visitors to the site come from most likely Pixar and TDA... That's interesting to think about. Who knows if it's "legal" checking out what they did, or if it's imagineers, etc, that just think it's pretty cool. The world may never know!

Meh, I thought seeing how stuff worked was part of the admission price.
