Think this will end up having us rent DVC for as long as it lasts especially if it is FP related
Finally they’ve found a way to fill up all those rooms/villas at SSR!
Be aware that actually getting a DVC reservation is challenging right now because there are a lot of unused points from the 2020 canceled vacations that have to work through the system.
I would like to see them bring back the evening EMH for those staying at a Disney hotel only. I don't think that the good neighbor hotels should be included in that perk.
The good neighbor hotels did not get access to EMH (or 60 day FP+ booking) until 2018. EMH were, IMO, already too crowded when they added the good neighbor hotels, thus as an on-site guest I was not a fan of that decision.
Evening EMH did not exist prior to the mid 2000s, EMH replaced E ticket nights where for $10/12 per person extra on-site guests got after hours access - capacity limited.
Everyone is (used to be) equal at the parks. It doesn't matter where you're staying or where you live, everyone has the same access as long as you have a park ticket.
You pay more for amenities ~ at your resort. That's where it should end.
Once again, WDW makes an obvious disgusting money grab and some people cheer.
(My trips are split equally between mod and deluxe, so it may benefit me at some point. I still think it's disgusting and not at all in the spirit of WDW).
I’m old & remember DL back in the A-E ticket days, if you were willing/able to spend more money you could ride more E ticket rides, thus I‘ve never had the illusion that Disney was striving for some sort of socialistic leveling where you were guaranteed the same access/experience irrespective of how much you paid.
Disney owns their hotels and their parks, I don’t have a problem with their business decision to try to drive hotel bookings to their deluxe hotels by offering a carrot in the form of greater access to their adjacent parks.
Back when paper FP existed every ticket holder - local, off-site, on-site had equal access to FPs - get into the park & the fastest walkers got to those machines first. When electronic FP launched on-site had a head start on making FPs - relegating local & offsite ticket holders to second tier status.. When they added the extra FP & earlier FP bookings option for club guests it was just another tool to tempt folks to book Disney’s deluxe hotel rooms.
I highly doubt it will happen. The peasant resorts will get a few FP instead.
It amazes me the amount of cheering that goes on for these perks that used to be available to everyone.
EMH were never available to everyone. Initially to get access to a park after hours - an E ticket, you had to be staying on site and pay extra per person. Then in the mid 2000s, they dropped the pay extra and opened up evening extra hours to everyone staying on site. Then in 2018 they added in the good neighbor hotels.
Moreover, anyone not staying deluxe who wants to stay in the MK after hours can pony up the cost of an after hours party ticket for probably less $ than even one night in a deluxe would cost.
I liked EMH, being west coast based night time worked better for me than early entry mornings. However, back in the days when all you had to do was flash a room card to hop in line during EMH it seemed to me that a lot of locals/offsite guests had those plastic room cards & the CMs rarely scrutinized the date of stay fine print. W/ the advent of MB the EMH lines suddenly were lower IME.
If you want to argue that for the price of admission all guests should get more, I agree and dislike the reduction in hours trend I’ve seen, but I don’t see offering evening EMH to deluxe guests only as very different from other moves Disney has made historically.
