It's cute that you think the extra evening time will be a few hours. I don't think we've seen any official details, but I'm expecting it to be 1 hour, not 2-3.
The official announcement did call it extended evening hours, but I suppose extended evening hour doesn’t flow as well;););)

In addition, with the kickoff of the 50th anniversary, guests staying at one of our Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resort hotels will also be able to enjoy extended evening hours on select nights in select theme parks. Extended evening hours will begin in early October with specific dates and parks to be shared at a later time, so please be sure to check back on DisneyWorld.com for the latest.

If it‘s one night a week per park they could maybe extend it more than an hour, especially for the MK night.

Well… yeah it is. No one is entitled to go to a Disney park. It is not a common good, like say a National Park or even worse our air and water. Disney can do whatever they want with them. Now, don’t get me wrong there is a lot I don’t agree with that they are doing, but I don’t get offended by it or even mad. I might get disappointed as to what could have been, but I still have the choice whether or not to go, so does everyone else. When I think the cost of going on a trip outweighs the value, I’ll stop. The righteous indignation and entitlement around here is sometimes… everyone is turning into their own version of Katiebug

I get that....but my toddler might not.

People whine and gripe about IP infusion on here all the time (heck, even me occasionally) but they still go. Why don't they get the same response?

If they do it for one hour twice in a month, that's hours!

Think this will end up having us rent DVC for as long as it lasts especially if it is FP related
Finally they’ve found a way to fill up all those rooms/villas at SSR!
Be aware that actually getting a DVC reservation is challenging right now because there are a lot of unused points from the 2020 canceled vacations that have to work through the system.
I would like to see them bring back the evening EMH for those staying at a Disney hotel only. I don't think that the good neighbor hotels should be included in that perk.
The good neighbor hotels did not get access to EMH (or 60 day FP+ booking) until 2018. EMH were, IMO, already too crowded when they added the good neighbor hotels, thus as an on-site guest I was not a fan of that decision.
Evening EMH did not exist prior to the mid 2000s, EMH replaced E ticket nights where for $10/12 per person extra on-site guests got after hours access - capacity limited.
Everyone is (used to be) equal at the parks. It doesn't matter where you're staying or where you live, everyone has the same access as long as you have a park ticket.

You pay more for amenities ~ at your resort. That's where it should end.

Once again, WDW makes an obvious disgusting money grab and some people cheer.

(My trips are split equally between mod and deluxe, so it may benefit me at some point. I still think it's disgusting and not at all in the spirit of WDW).
I’m old & remember DL back in the A-E ticket days, if you were willing/able to spend more money you could ride more E ticket rides, thus I‘ve never had the illusion that Disney was striving for some sort of socialistic leveling where you were guaranteed the same access/experience irrespective of how much you paid.
Disney owns their hotels and their parks, I don’t have a problem with their business decision to try to drive hotel bookings to their deluxe hotels by offering a carrot in the form of greater access to their adjacent parks.
Back when paper FP existed every ticket holder - local, off-site, on-site had equal access to FPs - get into the park & the fastest walkers got to those machines first. When electronic FP launched on-site had a head start on making FPs - relegating local & offsite ticket holders to second tier status.. When they added the extra FP & earlier FP bookings option for club guests it was just another tool to tempt folks to book Disney’s deluxe hotel rooms.
I highly doubt it will happen. The peasant resorts will get a few FP instead.

It amazes me the amount of cheering that goes on for these perks that used to be available to everyone.
EMH were never available to everyone. Initially to get access to a park after hours - an E ticket, you had to be staying on site and pay extra per person. Then in the mid 2000s, they dropped the pay extra and opened up evening extra hours to everyone staying on site. Then in 2018 they added in the good neighbor hotels.
Moreover, anyone not staying deluxe who wants to stay in the MK after hours can pony up the cost of an after hours party ticket for probably less $ than even one night in a deluxe would cost.
I liked EMH, being west coast based night time worked better for me than early entry mornings. However, back in the days when all you had to do was flash a room card to hop in line during EMH it seemed to me that a lot of locals/offsite guests had those plastic room cards & the CMs rarely scrutinized the date of stay fine print. W/ the advent of MB the EMH lines suddenly were lower IME.
If you want to argue that for the price of admission all guests should get more, I agree and dislike the reduction in hours trend I’ve seen, but I don’t see offering evening EMH to deluxe guests only as very different from other moves Disney has made historically.

I’m more than happy about this announcement. Personally I do believe that deluxe and DVC members should get a little more.
Also as a resale DVC owners it makes me less bothered about missing out on the moonlight magic nights which commands the massive premium for buying direct.
Just hope it stays past the 50th

I get that they have been slowly doing things like this for awhile. Due to Covid they are accelerating it now. It feels all they care about now is how much each guest spends. It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Personally I don't care about the perk as I stay off site most of the time. Its mainly due to I rarely spend time at a resort when I am there. The hotel is mainly for sleeping for me.

I apologize if it came across as if I coming was after you. That wasn’t my intention. It was more a general comment on the sentiment of these boards sometimes. I think most of us come here because we are fans of the parks. And with that fandom we each bring our own emotional baggage to the table. Those things that have made Disney such a big part of our lives that we take the time to read through thousands of posts about a place that isn’t real and is owned by people who don’t really care about us. Whatever those things are that have created this extremely strong bond they are deeply personal to each of us and what cause us all to react the way we do to each change or perceived reduction to thing we hold dear. The fact that the parks have created this intense emotional connection with so many people is what has made them great but it is that same personal connection that causes this sense of betrayal each time we perceive Disney changing something that we love or taking some piece of what had always made OUR trips great. It is why taking away noodles can create the 💩storm it did. We’re talking about noodles!! Those noodles while on the face if it are insignificant but to each of those people that freaked out, they represented something more than noodles. This is what the current management does not understand. But it is also what causes the feelings of entitlement we each may feel. I have to remind myself of this all the time. Disney isn’t mine. It’s not yours or any one else’s. We have no right to expect anything from them. If I make the decision to go and pay whatever I pay, I have accepted Disney for what it is. If I do anything else then I am just diminishing my own enjoyment. Like I said before, if there comes a point where I feel like that value proposition has tipped too far and I can no longer enjoy my time there, I need to make the hard decision not to go anymore.

I think it is really sad that Disney is doing this. It is separating the the haves and have nots. Disney has always used the excuse that they were not going to do what Universal has done with their park pass by charging for the privilege of going on the rides with no lines. So they decided to go this way very sneaky! Talk about alienating most of your guests. Sad, very very sad.

I am sure some where in the 42 pages this has been asked but I don't have time to read through. Although I wish I did!! So here goes my question how does this affect DVC members in terms of EMH in the evening? Is it only for " cash" guest staying at Deluxe and Villas?

It said guests at Deluxe Villa resorts. So that’s anyone staying at a DVC resort.

A DVC member staying at a non DVC resort would not be able to go.

Is everyone forgetting Club Level got you extra fastpasses for a price?

This isn't anything new honestly. Disney has been offering different kinds of access for a price for years in various forms. I'll take the 30 min for every park, every day over an extra hour or so for specific parks on specific days. Better for rope dropping if I ever manage to get my brood up and at em that early and on time.

Sure, but they didn't take anything away from everyone else. Any Fastpass people wanted was still easily available at 60 days.

To all of you crying this is unfair, how can you turn around and support EMH? Isn’t that segregating the “rich” who can stay at a Disney Resort from the “poor” who don’t? Aren’t you just upset you are now in the “poor” category? This is fundamentally different from complaints about upcharges as that is a nickel and dime system that is just frustrating to me. This is a perk for staying in a more expensive room, and it’s not an extra cost. I’m very happy with this, but I stay at deluxes. Deluxe resorts cost nearly 2x the cost of moderates and 3-4x the cost of values, I think Disney is justified in giving us a bone especially with other perks being taken away.

As a DVC member this sounds great for me but something seems off, my spider senses are tingling.

Hear me out.

This would be much lower crowd levels than evening EMH used to be since it’s restricted to the deluxe.

Either most of the stuff will be closed or they are planning on having more traditional sized EMH by upselling it to everyone else.

I just don’t see them creating a great experience without finding a way to monetize it even further.

That is exactly what I was thinking. How many Deluxe Guests are there on any given day? What about the "slow" times of the year? The parks would be a ghost town during this time if it were limited to just Deluxe guests.

There has to be more to this story right?

Unless it’s like 1 day a week for 1 hour.

It won’t be every night, so there’ll be plenty of other evenings they can have a more traditional DAH event.
