It's impressive one of the busiest theme parks in the world only has. 7 rides (8 if you count the train). 2 (or 3 if you count train) of which won't even be open for extended evening hours.

During the day, it's not all about rides. There is also:
  • Safari
  • Two main animal walk-throughs
  • A bird show
  • Two live shows (FOTLK, Nemo)
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Rafiki, which you mentioned
So quite a bit extra not open in the evenings.

Oh I understand it's not all about rides... still crazy to me that it only has 7/8 rides. Epcot isn't all about the rides, but still has 11/12 (if you count MS as 1 or 2).

Looks like they want to avoid MK being in the EEH lineup while they are running parties and shutting down the park 4 days a week.

Guess it was just creating too many issues on Wednesdays...

Now at least it can spread out the HEA draw to Sat, Mon and Wed.

exactly. It isn't a problem is a theme park doesn't have an overwhelming number of rides, as a well designed one should have a lot of non-ride offerings as well as a balance. But at the same time, there should probably be a baseline of something like 15+ rides available at a minimum in all parks and it is pathetic that WDW doesn't meet that at 3 out of 4 parks(!) - which is why any new investment really should involve a bunch of ride additions (not replacements) to all of the non-MK parks.

If WDW has some of the most popular and financially productive parks in the country, if not the world, over the past several decades, and 3 out of 4 of its parks don't meet your arbitrary baseline I would love to see where you get that number should be the baseline for parks.

Because the parks are miserable because of how busy they are and a big part of that is lack of ride capacity. One of the reasons why Disney parks because so popular in the first place was that they invested in having many rides with high capacity at the castle parks so even though they had a lost of guests, most everyone could have a fun less stressful day any day - even when the park was crowded. As park visitation has grown over the years, the attraction capacity has stagnated or even gone down which exacerbates the crowding and wait in the queues.

And there have been complaints in terms of "not enough stuff to do" since day 1 at both DHS and DAK and it has never been fully addressed.

I’m just planning on doing Rise right after Fantasmic before the park closes in a few weeks. That way I can end my night on Sunset with a ToT marathon.
