Earfell Tower to be removed

Are you against major expansions and capital spending, or just not a SW or TS fan?

This was never my favorite Park to begin with and now that the Toy Story expansion is less that expected and not so exciting and Star Wars is throwing up all over the Park, there's nothing really there for me.

Very possible. Could also explain the rush to remove it as they don't need that exact spot at DHS cleared just yet.
It's a pretty huge leap to go from the announcement that it is being removed to it being a rush to be moved. It should still be around for a little while unless, like stated before, they are going to re-purpose it in Disney Springs.

Yeah, if your not even remotely interested in SW or the potential of the rides in that land, then I could see why you aren't too excited. And I don't mean that in a snarky way.

I'm looking forward to the new version of the park. As long as the Old Hollywood feel remains at the front, I'm OK with the adventures that lie ahead once you hit the hub of the park.

I am pretty devastated that the Earffel Tower will be going away. I'll never forget the Earffel Tower sundaes they used to serve at the Brown Derby. I watched the Mickey Mouse Club back in the day, and they often showed it during the ending credits.

Driving by it in person to this day always makes me smile, even though it isn't easy to see too well through the trees. At least, I have my memories!

All joking aside, I REALLY hope that they do this right. I hope it's "DCA right" - they really seemed to have fixed that park. It's still not Disneyland but the changes/additions were all good moves.

I hope that they put in Pixar Land and Star Wars Land and it's a crazy success and they think, "You know what? We ought to put in another movie-based land!" (and the park grows and isn't just some weird combination of "old Hollywood", Star Wars, and Pixar.

Put in Muppet Land. Give us Sesame Street. (if the contracts end) Put in Marvel Land.. DHS could be so rich with different, heavily-themed lands..

Hey, yeah! And if Disney buys Hasbro (as was rumored not long ago), it can build My Little Pony Land! And if it buys the rights from Peyo's estate, it can build Smurf Land! And hey, wouldn't a Clokey Gumby and Pokey Land be great???

Good god, what is it with you nards who seem to think it's Disney's business to buy junk you wuvved as a kid and make a land out of it?

If you REALLY feel the need to pose for a picture with a guy in a Cookie Monster suit, there's a park in Pennsylvania called Sesame Place! Have fun!

There is actually a great view of it from the Tower of Terror.

*doors open* "Hey look, the Earffel Tower!" *drop*

I do like seeing the tower from the tower...

Not enough to care about it being taken down. I'm more than ready for what the Studios has in store in the future.

Ooh, I just thought of something else! What if Iger buys the Cabbage Patch Kids franchise and creates a Cabbage Patch Kids Land! Think of what a great ride that would make! There could be one section like the one in the Haunted Mansion, where ghosts pop up from behind headstones. But instead of ghosts and headstones, there'd be cabbages and newborn Cabbage Patch Kids would jump out at you! Even more frightening! Talk about plussing! Oh the nostalgia-gasms that would inspire! Apparently. Yeesh.

you cannot 'move' a structure like that, as with the BAH, its going in the can
Why couldn't it be demolished and rebuilt? Disney loves recycling, sometimes years later. I would imagine moving a water tower is simpler than moving Dumbo was. And in this case, we have an old water tower coming down and a new one going up in the same year.

difference was dumbo was MADE to be moved... and it moved a sum total of 203 yards. not across the property. Dumbo is also heavy and compact, where that tin can on stilts would never stand the trip.
