During Summer Brazilians are EVERYWHERE, annoying sometimes BUT always so beautiful!

I personally think there are SO many examples of people complaining on the MANY boards on the net that there is certainly some validity to the claims. Hundreds of people didn't get to together in the efforts to collude against the nation of Brazil.

Exactly. It amazes me how whenever this topic comes up, there are always some who refer to anyone complaining about the Brazilian Tour Groups to be racist.

How can it be ignorance if people are speaking from first hand experience on how they see these groups behaving? And cont me in the group that dislikes the behaviors mentioned before. If you're going to go to a new country, learn how to behave there. My wife and I have already said that if we travel overseas we would do our research on the cultures and expectations of visitors. It's just the decent thing to do.

This too.

you also cannot be racist, as Brasil is a nation of people... not a particular race. Prejudicial sure, but racist no. Just wanted to clear that one up.

Please refer to the UN ruling on definition of racism.

the term "racial discrimination" shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin that has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life.

There for joking about potatoes with the Irish, bad teeth with the English and fat dumb arses with the spams is forbidden. Or you will be hunted down and subjected to days of intensive diversity indoctrination.

well, that definition defies the very meaning of a definition... racism is to subject based on race. To add in national or ethnic origin is beyond pushing it, that's a pretty coverall vanilla "definition" and is meant to cover all of their bases.

plus, this is America... do we listen to the UN about anything? lol (JK JK JK)

Somewhere in Brazil the following conversation is taking place-

"I really love Walt Disney World but I hate all of the fat American people and their scooters!"

Um, slight difference. Granted, many people in the scooters are just plain lazy, but that's a whole other thread. However, many of the people in scooters, HAVE to be in them. The tour groups don't have to act as obnoxious as some of them do.

Never really had a problem with them. They are usually singing and stuff but it doesn't bother me. I am of hispanic ancestry and we are a loud culture, maybe that's why. The women are beautiful. Dated a Brazilian for almost 2 years and evne visited the country. If you are a single guy, take a trip down there, you won't regret it. I always wanted to go back down after we split but never happened. If you are friends with one, they will always take care of you. She worked at the parks for a semester while in school. Her friends would always hook us up in any way they could. Even if she wasn't with me, if I was up there and walking around the parks, they knew who I was and I was getting something.

Somewhere in Brazil a person is responding-

"Fat Americans always make excuses for disrespecting themselves and their bodies and then hating others who are different and enjoy life!"

There are certain things that I understand about your posts on this should-have-died-long-ago thread. You do not like any type of generalizations being made against people, and you do not like judgments based on generalizations. I get it.

What I don’t understand is your ability to post this last reply in light of your feelings regarding the topic of generalization. All “fat” Americans disrespect themselves and their bodies? There is no accounting for genetics, thyroid disease, and a host of other serious health issues that contribute to some people’s body weight? If a “fat” American does not approve of the behavior exhibited by others who are unaware of the social customs regarding public behavior in the U.S., then that “fat” American is automatically guilty of hate?

The door has to swing both ways. I have not contributed to the complaints on this SHDLA thread (see extended version above). I merely wonder why some are allowed to make crass comments because they happen to have a sense of righteousness against the statements being made by others. Consistency in opinion goes a long way. Please understand that this is far from being a personal attack against you on my behalf, but rather a curious observation regarding social views.

(Oh, and I’m not overweight, on most days :), in case you believe you hit a personal nerve.)

So let me get this straight - Hating a Nazi skinhead would be wrong because they enjoy vandalizing Synagogues?

You're making no sense at all.

.

If I complain about the behavior of certain group of people, well that's just a complaint. If in the future Disney restricts access of their parks or restaurants etc. to anyone who is Brazilian or appears to be Brazilian that's racism.
People similarly also complain about Pop Warner and Cheerleaders. Is that racism to? What race is being discriminated against?

Thanks for your well thought out response. I appreciate that you took the time out to think before responding.

I had intended to make the people posting hateful comments against other people check themselves. The hateful comments are against a group of people who love themselves, love life and are having a great time.

Brazilians could express hatred toward the vast majority of Americans that they see in the parks for the reasons I stated. (And yes some people are legit handicap and many are not. Enough excuses)

I made a generalization just like the haters on this thread did toward Brazilians. That was the point. Not pretty is it. It was a mirror.

They should not speak that way, even as we should not speak in general terms against them.

This would have helped me to understand your methodology better.

I don't see haters on this thread. I see people being honest about a legitimate issue. If you don't mind their behavior, that's fine and well for you. But what about the people that do not like being subject to their behavior? Just because someone enjoys doing something doesn't make it appropriate or right. There are people who like to spray paint walls and vandalize cemeteries. Should we just say "Oh, the heck with it - They're just enjoying life."

Bimbonians perhaps?

Simply extending the logic that if, for one often quoted example, the jolly craicsters the Irish claim to be a race, and suffer racial discrimination, surely that by default can be extended to any nationality, except obviously Americans as it has already clearly defined subsets within its population.
