Dumbo = Prototype for the future?

I'm very intrigued by this "ride without a que" concept...though I'm still not entirely sure how they plan to implement it.

Does anyone else think this new Dumbo que/non-que concept is a "test pilot" for this new que-less system? If it works well I think we could see alot of future rides and refurbed old ones implementing something similar.

Imagine a day when there are no long lines to wait in...

I don't think this will completely change everything.

For smaller attractions like dumbo, sure, maybe we'll see it more. But for attractions like BTM, Splash, etc, I don't think the queue system will be replaced.

The queue is a huge part of the experience. It would be awful (to me) to see the queue become a relic of the past. I am more concerned with the shift to thrill and/or filler attractions. What was the last true dark ride to go in? Splash? I'm not talking about just rides that are in the dark, I'm talking about slower moving attractions that tell a story -- the true dark rides.

Based on some other posts with quoted "rumors", it sounds like it could almost be a "take a number" type of system, like the License Branch.

You enter the 3-Ring Circus and your party gets a number (referred to as a "feather" in another thread). You advance through the 3 tents, or perhaps loiter between them randomly, at your will.

Then perhaps the Ring Master calls your name or number or something and you go queue up to be dispatched to the next available spinner.

This seems most logical, and most feasible, without having an actual queue. It's almost like herding livestock in a big corral, and then ushering them down the chute. :p

But, since it's been quoted to be "the most popular ride in FL", and the average rider is under 6 (if you exclude the mandatory adult chaperone), it seems like a grand idea, and HUGE courtesy by WDW to help entertain the little gremlins while waiting.

Looks like Ariel's adventure will be the next...

I think Dumbo will effectively work as an unlinked Fastpass. That would seem to be a relatively easy thing to implement.

Sometimes waiting in the que is more fun *looks at Spiderman*. God, I could wait inside the Spiderman que for 2 hours and not mind....

people keep calling queue less... when in reality it's like stitch.. you get into a group with the amount that can ride, and thats your queue.. your entertained while dumbo is running.. then near the end of dumbo you move into the waiting area.. or at least thats what I took from the concept of no queue.

That's the way I feel about EE. They did such an awesome job on that que, that sometimes I don't want to move along because I haven't finished looking at the stuff in the building I am in.

i agree that the que-less rides might work for the small attractions but for the big ones and the e-ticket rides it would prob. not work.

This is Disneys way to make extra money from you while you are waiting to ride the Dumbos. They give you some sort of fast pass with a time then they want you to wait around in the Dinoland carnival game area and pay extra money to play games.
