Dumbo = Prototype for the future?

The Conundrum

New Member
I'm very intrigued by this "ride without a que" concept...though I'm still not entirely sure how they plan to implement it.

Does anyone else think this new Dumbo que/non-que concept is a "test pilot" for this new que-less system? If it works well I think we could see alot of future rides and refurbed old ones implementing something similar.

Imagine a day when there are no long lines to wait in...

Rasolu was kind of misleading. What happens is you line up under the tents in the queue and then they will let small groups of people from the line into the show building at a time (similar to haunted mansion). Once you are in the show building you can explore Dumbo's Circus and then the doors will open once the previous group has disembarked from the ride and everyone currently in the circus will be allowed onboard. However I have a sneaking suspicion people will start lining up for the main ride inside the circus building.

No...just no. That's not what it's going to be at all.

You beat me to it.

I said in a different thread (which I can't find now) that I hope these meet-and-greets resemble more of the atmosphere the the characters in DL, which have always seemed more free-roaming, playful, and loose than their stuffy queueing photo-session-esque counterparts usually found in WDW.

The queue is a huge part of the experience. It would be awful (to me) to see the queue become a relic of the past. I am more concerned with the shift to thrill and/or filler attractions. What was the last true dark ride to go in? Splash? I'm not talking about just rides that are in the dark, I'm talking about slower moving attractions that tell a story -- the true dark rides.

Based on some other posts with quoted "rumors", it sounds like it could almost be a "take a number" type of system, like the License Branch.

You enter the 3-Ring Circus and your party gets a number (referred to as a "feather" in another thread). You advance through the 3 tents, or perhaps loiter between them randomly, at your will.

Then perhaps the Ring Master calls your name or number or something and you go queue up to be dispatched to the next available spinner.

This seems most logical, and most feasible, without having an actual queue. It's almost like herding livestock in a big corral, and then ushering them down the chute. :p

But, since it's been quoted to be "the most popular ride in FL", and the average rider is under 6 (if you exclude the mandatory adult chaperone), it seems like a grand idea, and HUGE courtesy by WDW to help entertain the little gremlins while waiting.

I would like a pound of roast beef, a half pound of smoked turkey, and a pound of potato salad.

Oh wait, for a second there it sounded like I was waiting at my local deli.
