Dreams Come Alive and MSEP rebuild

So they are supposedly willing to spend the money to refurbish the MSEP right after they declined to spend the money to repair SpectroMagic? Seems odd to me, why scrap one parade (over the cost to refurbish) you were otherwise planning to bring back just to turn around and spend the money to rebuild another?
Personally, I would have rather had them rehab Spectro (are the floats really that bad?) over the MSEP. One of the units could have been swapped out for a Tangled unit. The Tangled music (the ballad-in 3/4) would have worked perfectly into the Spectro theme. Could have removed the Sleeping Beauty segment.

So, TDO is going to spend a lot of money building or updating three different entertainment options at MK. Meanwhile, they are removing the major daytime options at both DHS and DAK. Seems a very odd distribution of resources, especially with MK being the attendance leader and having the most stuff to do already.

I'd certainly rather they keep Wishes and spend any development money on a new parade for DAK.

It seems as if (according to rumor) all savings from the removed parades at DAK and DHS, would be directed to the new parades and fireworks at MK. Personally, I don't miss the parade at DHS and MJJP at DAK is a bit long in the tooth....especially since they've removed the "real" drummers and substituted regular performers who didn't seem to know how to even fake it, on the drums. I loved MJJS when it premiered in 2001, but I'd rather have the $'s spent on something a bit more spectacular, even if it is at another park.

Fair enough... I agree, some love for some good show at MK would be great.... just hope some love can be spread throughout all the parks, too. I also never really stop to watch either parade at DHS or DAK.

I would have to guess that at least in some small way the upcoming major projects at DAK and DHS would impact the entertainment functionality of what they will need to do at both parks. Would I rather they keep everything going, sure, but as long as reports are right and the money will be going into at least a few new things I will take it, especially in this day and age.

Am I they only one upset about the possibility that the garland may be leaving? It's my favorite decoration...
No you are not the only one. I second your opinion. The problem is that is the only area that is heavy on the Christmas decorations, and the garland really make the decor. I hope they alter it and not just remove it. MSEP also had the same issue with the Big Ben float but they actually just took off the top during Christmas so it could fit under the garlands.

Because MSEP is probably the most well known parade Disney's ever produced and is more marketable then Spectromagic.

Hopefully this is true, I'd love to see a new fireworks show at the MK. I'm not sure I understand the other entertainment cuts though.

I'm all about a new parade, but why it has to effect the Xmas garland gets me...The Xmas garland on Main Street makes it "Xmas"...go there before the Xmas parade taping and you'll understand what I mean...something is just missing. The next day after the parade, it changes everything. Hate to see the garland go away.....reminds me of back in the day when each little town in Pittsburgh did something similar....if it goes away it will never come back....kind of like the lights of winter at epcot.

Ugh, I might be biased because I grew up with Spectro, but it kills me that it is being thrown away without management even batting an eyelash, a parade that had its origins in Orlando, while MSEP continues its frankenstein run. I feel there is so much more potential in a Dream Lights style remake for Spectro, especially with its luscious score, which I so badly want to hear within MK again. But sadly the general public and TDO doesn't feel the same, and in the end, its chances of being brought back are about the same as Light Magic.

Considering how lights pop up for parades and windows open to expose speakers, I bet Disney can figure out a way to raise the garland to allow the floats to pass under.

OK everyone.My opinion
The First thing I have noticed is that DAK and DHS are both getting the expansions and the major facelift so that is why they are cutting the whole entertainment.
Second Magic kingdom really needs those entertainments thats because it is the ICON of the whole resort and that means if the Center of the resort didnt get the TLC that it needs the impact of it will be big in order of that they need to change all of those offerings.
Third This is just like a rotation if MK kingdom gets the first expansion and next DAK and then next DHS and lastly EPCOT.
Fourth Theyre having all the expansions and the new offerings throughout those 3 parks but what will happen to EPCOT??
and Fifth I LOVE THE NEW ENTERTAINMENT division in WDW because seriously CTF and DCR and MJJP you call that entertainment and I think its a good idea that theyre putting it in the magic kingdom first.and speaking of the magic kingdom can someone tell when are they going to end MiSiCi the show in an eyesore and Dream along with Mickey is just fine show to me but they need to upgrade that show or change the some of the scenes in it and put princess and the frog tangled brave Toy Story Mary Poppins and Pirates in it and change the finale with fountains in the backround and bubbles in it and all the characters in it with a White and Golden costumes and youve got a pyro in the ending a wolah youve got an ending.

AND Im new in here!

Of course the MK version of MSEP originated in 1977. If you can only keep one nighttime parade, it makes sense to rehab the currently functioning parade which has the longer history then try to resurrect floats that are in unknown condition. I also seem to remember that there were safety issues for drivers of the floats, does anyone recall if it was Spectro?

New MK pyro show being developed is accurate. I don't recall Martin ever saying anything that contradicts, so I'm not sure why this person felt the need to take a shot at him. Wishes is still running, and any new show is still a few years out. MSEP work is also accurate as of very recently, but don't know when it's scheduled to take place.

I am not sure the parades at DAK or DHS are an attendance draw. Part of the function of the parades is to help spread out crowds during busy times of the day and reduce wait times. Something that is not needed at DAK or DHS. Nighttime shows and parades help keep people in the parks later. DHS has Fantasmic and DAK closes early. So my guess is rather than cancel the parades because of future expansion, TDO realized those parades provided little value and the budget was better spent on creating marquee events at MK. No facts, just my humble opinion.

wow this is a lot to digest...

I can understand them wanting to go all in with the new MK parade and fireworks show and even a rehab/redo of the MSEP, what I'm not sure about is removing the parades at DHS and DAK all within the same year all of a sudden. We go alot so if we don't see the parades at those parks, no big deal, but kids like them. We're going in December and now I'm wondering if there will be ANY parades going on???

Now let me say this... if there is a bigger plan in mind, NOT just allocating $ towards the new MK parade(s), and fireworks...and this plays into a bigger picture for DHS and DAK down the road with major expansions there... then I say do whatever is necessary, just be careful not to pull too many things away all at once for those current guests

One comment I will make though, it does seem like the rumor mill and news is leaning towards more bigger scale changes and additions (new fantasyland, avatar, carsland, disney springs, brand new parade(s), fireworks, etc.). I think things are going in the right direction now, lets just hope they do it all right
