Welcome back MEW. If you seen those Avengers posters for Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland which Marvel characters will be on your resort's Avengers Recruitment poster?

I'm aiming for Marvel City to be an opening day land, so we probably won't have a recruitment poster. However, Spider-Man and the Avengers are the primary focus of the land. Black Panther and the Guardians will also receive significant attention.

Okay, so here's a bit of a project update.

Life hasn't gotten much easier since my last post... I continue to work as a restaurant manager - practically full time - and am looking forward to starting rehearsals this coming June for my second professional acting job (Annie). Young Frankenstein ended about a week ago. My teaching has ended for the summer, so fortunately, I'll be able to sleep in on weekdays for the first time in forever. Today is my first true day off since January. I'm dead serious. Life has flown by from the amount of stress and work I have taken on.

That being said, my personal health problems - anxiety, stress, blood pressure, etc. - have all improved tremendously since my last post. I no longer require the use of a therapist. And, shockingly, I have survived the chaotic nature of the past five months. I am the happiest and most hopeful I have ever been, despite everything. Things are looking up (here in Duloc).

The project has regrettably taken a backseat amid the chaos of my personal and professional life, but I have not forgotten it, nor do I intend to leave it relatively unfinished. @spacemt354 put a lot of work into the beautiful map, and I fully intend on matching its beauty with one "final" draft written in an equal elegance and beauty. While much of, if not all of what has been posted will be retained, there are some things here and there in need of fixing. Also, Infinity War has called for a fresh look at the Marvel City portion of the park.

I can't promise when a further update will be posted, but know that I am both alive and well, and like the original Disneyland, this project will never be complete, as long as there is imagination left in the world - or in this case, my head.

Now then, enjoy this video of a refreshed It's a Small World @ Tokyo Disneyland. @DisneyManOne, have you seen this?!

But if there were posters promoting Disney's land of Dreams with the theme lands, and the Avengers recruitment poster promotes Marvel City which Marvel heroes would appear in the poster like the posters above?

They need to include some of those into the Disneyland version, too. There are a few spaces in the ride where there are empty spaces they can fit in. However, not all of them can fit (like Rapunzel or Hercules), and by virtue of the fact that Disneyland, not Tokyo Disneyland, features an America section, I also have some ideas for characters not in Tokyo to add as well. Here's the list of characters to put in Disneyland in California that are already in Tokyo:
  • Anna, Elsa and Olaf in Scandinavia (although I'd rather not get rid of the ice skater in favor of Olaf)
  • Merida and maybe the bear cubs in Scotland (there is a big empty space in Scotland where she can go)
  • Moana and Pua in Ocenia (although the sail wouldn't have the spiral logo on the boat sail, but rather a huge version of the Maui tattoo)
And here are some additional ideas for characters to include that would be exclusive to Disneyland:
  • Miguel, Hector and maybe Dante in Latin America (there's an empty spot at the base of the scene where they can go)
  • Add Squirt to go with Nemo and Dory
  • In America, replace the farm (boring) with a bayou and have Tiana and Naveen on a riverboat there, with Louis the alligator playing his trumpet.
Anyway, those are some ideas of mine for improving Small World at Disneyland. Feel free to add those to your park.

Annie has always been one of my favorite musicals. Who are you playing in that production?

Mr. Bundles, Wacky, and Ensemble. The show is certainly a guilty pleasure of mine.

@mharrington, I definitely planned on including those characters in my version. I am in complete agreement with you in regard to DL's America Room. It's a sad shell of what could have been when compared to the HKDL and DLP American scenes. In my own opinion, the room should be gutted entirely and given a more diverse representation of the United States. We're not all farmland and desert, contrary to popular belief. ;)

I don't really see it as a guilty pleasure as much; probably because I grew up watching the 1982 and 1999 film versions. But to me, a real guilty pleasure is Cats. The concept of the show doesn't really lend itself well to stage translation. If anything, it fits more as a concept album. But yet, the music is quite catchy and powerful. I'm not really the biggest fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber. The only shows of his I genuinely like are Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita and Sunset Boulevard (mainly because I'm a huge film geek and I love the grand, opera aspect of it all--which is how Billy Wilder wanted a stage adaptation of the film to be, anyway.). To me, ALW more often than not leans towards more "style over substance", and that really feels isolating.

EDIT: I just remembered that in the 1999 version, they got Ernie Sabella--the voice of Pumbaa--to do a cameo as Mr. Bundles. You're gonna be stepping in Ernie Sabella's shoes!

Hmm, who here would be interested in helping make an actual music loop for the YouTube or DropBox format? I no longer have the necessary apps/tools to do so (darn Chromebook). I will more than likely be purchasing a new laptop with said capability in the near future... @Snoopy? @spacemt354? @DisneyManOne? Any tips or advice?

Tonight's update - an odd one at that - is simple: background music (in a list format) for the Magic Kingdom's "overture": Hollywood Boulevard. Like the Hollywood Boulevard of MGM Studios, the Hollywood Boulevard of our Magic Kingdom is set to a sweeping score of Hollywood classics - most as performed by John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra. If I can't figure out an option for looping all the tracks together, I'll eventually come back and post a link to each song individually...

I kind of thought that the America scene was installed primarily as an excuse to include Toy Story characters here.

Version 2.0 of the Dream Resort is well underway. Sorry again for the M.I.A. Annie is in full rehearsal swing, and a New York vacation is in the works for me (August 10 - 17). Hoping to make it back to WDW in 2019!

Version 2.0 is essentially the same as the original, save for minor to major differences:

- An American Waterfront (i.e. Tokyo DisneySea) land to be held between Fantasyland and Discoveryland. This will see the addition of an in-park hotel, new attractions, a Broadway-caliber theater, and a new incarnation of my personal favorite attraction in WDW: The American Adventure. Yes, you read that last part right. Don't judge me.

- A revamped and expanded Marvel City.

- The Uncharted Lagoon and Adventureland will merge into one land, with the Uncharted Lagoon as one sub-land and Paradise Springs as the other.

- The additional of International Marketplace. Think if World Showcase was condensed into a New Orleans Square of sorts. This will call for the replacement of Chinatown in Westernland and the subsequent northern expansion of Westernland (Critter Country perhaps).

- Ratatouille and Spamalot will be removed and replaced from their unfitting locales.

- Several "unnecessary" attractions and the like have been removed, replaced, or deleted entirely. The park itself will likely shrink from the original 1,500 Acres to somewhere between 950 and 1,000. A fourth and fifth entrance into the park will be added regardless; one in the American Waterfront and another in Adventureland. This leaves us with Hollywood Boulevard, Small World Plaza, Mos Eisley Spaceport, Paradise Springs, and the American Waterfront to have an entrance each.

Of course there's much more where this came from. @spacemt354, the map will clearly need alteration, but seeing as you and I are both busy, we'll hold off till everything is in perfect artistic order. ;) Stay tuned, folks. It's all coming - eventually.

You should have a Cops vs. Gangsters shooter ride there

Btw MEW if Doctor Doom couldn't be use you might need a backup villain like Ultron or Thanos for the Avengers. Btw are Ant-Man & Wasp, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel going to be in Marvel City in the near future?

Alrighty @MANEATINGWREATH I think if you've got the time I can get some map work in this week and next!

I'd actually like to try a new form of map making -- make it more personal and Disney-esque if that makes sense...rather than the 2D aerial view. Of course for some of the minutia that would take some time but maybe since Hollywood Bouleavard remains relatively the same - I could try it out with that first and see where it goes. It's a trial/error so who knows if it will be good haha but worth a shot!
