If anyone knows of any good videos of today’s opening, feel free to post. Other than Micechat I’m not very skilled at finding decent vlogs that won’t make me bang my head against a wall. But I want my little heart to sore at the sights and sounds too ❤️

I am shook that DTD is packed, as many on here said it would not be, as it is normally dead.

I guess people just want a little bit of Disney? The parks are gonna be interesting when they open...

I think all of us here, including me who started this thread, assumed the place would be busy with bloggers and Ebayers and general looky-loos this opening weekend. That demographic didn't disappoint. 🤣

The discussion about Downtown Disney not being a viable mid-term business case is based on the assumption, which I believe, that the currently weak lineup of retail and restaurants is not going to keep pulling people in for July and August unless Disneyland reopens.

Without Disneyland open, Downtown Disney's current offerings and operating strategy don't seem aimed for success.

I agree, how will DtD next Thursday, or other weekdays???

Here's a video from the local Noon TV news.

Trigger Warning: The video features images of at least five shoppers/pedestrians at Downtown Disney or on Anaheim Resort District sidewalks who are not wearing masks.

This must be it. I still go to Naples but it's only maybe 65% as good as its Florida counterpart. I wish the chef enforced more quality control with his food.
Thats funny, I usually found it to be the other way around for most other places in and out of the Disney bubble

Anything of value/limited merch was always going to get scooped up by the resellers first, whichever day it opened.
🙁

If today‘s DtD madhouse was any guide, chalk this up to another reason why Disney leadership’s decision on the announcement regarding Splash Mountain was incredibly ill-advised, shortsighted, and dumbfoundIng.

The mad “merchandise rush” is likely going to have public health ramifications and down the road even greater ramifications on the California parks reopening.

It would be helpful if DPB put out a statement on when they plan to begin this refurbishment to quell this madness. It also would have been responsible to delay the 65th anniversary and merch event.

Whaaaa? This was almost entirely related to the 65th Anniversary merchandise. I haven't seen any indication they are even selling Splash Mountain merchandise at World of Disney. At least not here in California.

Here are your WDW eBay jackholes of the day.

There’s photos of folks grabbing up both SoTS and 65th merch presumably to flip online. The WDW Splash Mountain has been heavily poured over as well. With regard to the 65th it would be helpful if Disney took the Knotts tactic (for their 100th) and extended the “celebration” fanfare in 2021.

I assume it’ll be restocked, but it’s not abundantly clear to the general public, hence why there are huge lines like it’s a going out of business sale. The idea of making this into a “false sense of urgency” merch event - whether for a retiring ride or a temporary celebration - seems irresponsible when the idea of reopening is to reasonably manage crowd flow.

Oh god, at the start a lady walks by with mouse ears. why would you wear mouse ears when the parks are closed? That is just like creepy to me for some reason.

Meh, it's all Disney and people need their fix even with their ears. Now the ones that booked a hotel just so they could go to DtD...yeah, that's a little, um, odd.
