I’ve never understood the vitriol for vloggers from the fan community. Are some of them annoying as hell? Yes. Do some of their cartoon voices make me want to bash my head in? Yes. Some of them however are good. I’ve said it before Fresh Baked got a lot better when the girl left and he changed his format around. That offhand Disney guy is pretty good too. Justin Scarred puts out some great Disney history vlogs like the one on Mine Train thru Natures Wonderland. Like any other medium- there is good and bad content. I guess I just don’t understand what the difference is from what we re doing here except for the fact that they are getting paid to do what we do all day long for free. Which means people are watching these vlogs.
I hate them all with every fiber of my being

But it's all clearly approved by Sacramento, and they only used Science and Data to make their decisions.

It's going on the Golden Zephyr that apparently spreads Covid, not going inside Elias & Co. to buy Chinese made junk no one actually needs.

It's just Science and Data. Also a 7.25% California sales tax on all merchandise sold at Elias & Co. ;)
Interesting you point out the taxes, I didn't stop to think about this fact, California is one of the few states that doesn't charge sales tax on theme park tickets. In the states where they do, theme parks are open, I do wonder if the state charged sales tax on theme park tickets if they would have a different tune right now.

I think it is great that Disney is doing this. This way the parks get some life into them. Hopefully taste of Main Street is next. It was a gut punch when we learned the whole park would not be open for many more months and the cats were left to Run Disneyland but if they let people at least in to get food and shop and have some life back into the parks instead of being boarded up like its THE WALKING DEAD I am for it. It is time for these things to open back up. I knew the parks would not 'open' open this year but was hoping they would do this.

I mean people are encouraged to go either way. Soarin or no Soarin. We re all bored to death. My sister and bro in law are at WDW right now for this very reason and its their first trip there ever... masks, limited hours and all. People are going to seek out entertainment. If not Disneyland, somewhere else. They re not just going to stay home.
Exactly and keeping theme parks closed is just encouraging Californians to take more trips to other states, for example, we did a cross country road trip earlier this year and come Thanksgiving will probably do a road trip through Texas, neither of which would likely have happened had local theme parks been open. So, it seems counterproductive to me to keep them closed.

It is simply people are jealous and why wouldn't they be? I mean these vloggers have figured out how to make a living by going to theme parks. Don't get me wrong, the editing of the videos is actually hard work and they are filming far more footage than any of us ever see, but overall they get to go and have fun while the rest of us work in our offices/etc.

What people fail to see is the hard work that occurs behind the scenes.

I am not jealous of them. I just hate them. I hate what they represent. I hate they make money off parks they have nothing to do with in the first place. I hate how they act in the parks, especially Justin Scarred. I hate the entilement they have. How they act like they are insiders and get free things. I hate the whole vlogger movement to its core. I am not jealous. I can grab a camera and film things too but I am not going to do that for its beneath me. To me vloggers ruin the theme park experience. And for that, I look forward to the day all their channels close shop.

So now they just need to bring my idea of the Food Festival Carts into the Esplanade and start that trolly preview of Avengers Campus and the Castle picture experience.

So here's the real question...

Sooner or later, this pandemic will end. And this whole 2020 ordeal will be looked at as a big headache of an experiment, during which we'll hopefully develop some best practices for when another pandemic comes again (and another will, someday).

So, does Disney say to themselves "If we knew the state wasn't going to let us open up properly, we would have shifted the park into 'mall mode' months earlier?" Does this become the default way of laying low while the state manages a pandemic?

And from an operations point of view, does Disney look at how to more seamlessly shift to mall mode in the future?

Does make Disney start to take a closer look at Universal's plan for Epic Universe where the whole central corridor of is public, but the lands require purchased access (whether by wrist band or app or ticket or whatever). WDI was already experimenting with this idea in the early stages of Shanghai DL: The idea was that DisneyTown (the mall) wasn't outside of the park. It WAS the Main Street area.

It will be interesting to see what new operational ideas this triggers.

Time to revive the idea of a "Westcot" for a third gate. The "World Showcase" concept is perfect this mode of operation.

Well, to each their own, my wife actually met Justin Scarred in the park and she said he was quite nice. A few of the others I have met are as well. The reality is they actually provide a lot of free promotion for the park and Disney makes quite a bit of money off the vloggers. I honestly don't care that they are there and in fact they often find things that many people don't know about. Just Scarred is actually one of the better ones as well, he finds a lot of the lost history of the parks (especially Knott's Berry Farm). If you feel it is beneath you, so be it, but no reason to be bitter towards those that do it.

They don't create free promotion. people go to Disney parks no matter what. Stop that.

Uh, one of the biggest sources of advertising are people posting pictures of themselves at the park on social media. Seeing family vacation photos showing how much fun they're having do tons to help get people to want to go to the park.

Vloggers are an off shoot of this, and even having Youtube populated with videos on their park that have the opportunity to be recommended to people via Youtube's algorithm is a huge free benefit for Disneyland.

You did not understand my point. Disneyland has been around waaay longer than social media and youtube. they are not giving it any promotion. people go there no matter what.

Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock announced today that, effective immediately, the Downtown Disney District would be expanding to encompass all of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Citing growing tensions between Disney and the State of California, the Disneyland Resort will be renamed the Downtown Disneyland Resort (logo below). The attractions inside of the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks are not expected to reopen, with the shops and restaurants inside each park instead creating a giant mall full of Instagrammable photo ops and delicious food and alcohol. As Potrock said during this announcement, "To all who come with wallets full of cash: welcome."

And, in the last 10 years since Social Media has taken off, Disneyland has been the most crowded it's ever been.

because it is Disneyland, not because of vloggers. Pefect example, GALAXY'S EDGE. Vloggers posted videos daily of the new land and no one showed up. They posted videos of how empty the park was and people still did not show up. They posted detailed videos how the reservation system worked and when it was no longer in use and people still did not show up. Some influencers.
