Don't Go In September

Is Disney ever going to learn from these tour groups. It seems from July until september they are over run from them. Disney better get a handle on this. They ruined our vacation in July. The chaperones should be held accountable for them.

I'm torn now after reading all these comments. We are planning on a Sept. vacation next year. I'd like to take advantage of the free dining if they offer it for next year. It's not that we can't afford a trip without it (the free dining) but we may be able to afford a longer trip with the free dining. I've been to WDW before in the middle of June. It was HOT and it rained almost every day we were there. For the most part the rain was in the afternoon and then it cleared up. Although one night it did pour! Also, the crowds were crazy in June. So, how does June compare to Sept.? Is Sept. hotter than June? Does Sept. have more rain? Do you think it is worth battling the elements to get a few extra days on your vacation at the "World"? Also, in terms of crowds is June as busy as it gets (besides for holidays - I know they're crazy)? The reason I'm comparing to June is b/c dispite all the cons we still had a wonderful time in June. I dealt with the crowds, I managed the heat, and the rain didn't bother me! So, would Sept. be a good choice for us?

you really don't need to worry. This month (well atleast the past week of it) has really been a strange case. Yes it will rain pretty much every day between June and Sept atleast for alittle bit. But those storms usually do blow over and only last for about an hour or so. This past week we've had a stalled suptropical low hanging around us. First on the east cost, then on the west. It caused heavy overcast and constant rain, and it was a big change from our normal weather pattern.

You know the saying "when it rains, it pours..." well that is very true for Florida. Any afternoon shower is usually very heavy with wind and lightning but they do blow over quickly. One of the reason most of the attractions in wdw are indoors is so they can still operate during storms.

So bring a pancho. And stay undercover when there's lightning...but don't let the chance of rain keep you from coming.

and ps....there are hardly any tour groups at wdw in september...I didn't see a single one last weekend.

As a local near WDW I will say the storms this september have seemed to be much worse than previous years...its not the typical short rain shower I've come to expect.

i was there from 8/26-9/04 this year.Honestly,i didn't see one tour group.I am rebooked for 8/30-9/07 next year because i thought it was a great time to go.The weather was hot, yes, but no worse than nyc in late july(well not this year, nyc probably had the best summer weather ever this year).I am wondering what type of tour group was it?was it the ones from brazil i hear so much about?I would hate it if there is going to be large crowds of young adults all over.I am sure you had a great time despite your few down falls.Unfortunately,i think these boards make us want a perfect vacation and sometimes it just cant happen.

I've been twice in September in the last few years and thought both times were great. The first one we caught Hurricane Jeanne, but in all honesty that took out just one day, and I don't think there was a single drop of rain in any of the other days of our trip. The other time there were showers, but nothing that lasted more than an hour or so. Crowds were very light both times.

This year we went in July and certainly wouldn't ever do so again. Lots and lots of rain, horrible crowd levels - still enjoyed the trip, but it's pretty depressing when you're sitting in a shop for three straight hours because it's raining far too much to make a run for anywhere else.

We've been to WDW in July and August and will never go back...Tour groups are horrible and everyone is taking their kids before school starts up again..Now we go in October..

Don't get discouraged, September can be a great month to visit. I admit that if you're not used to humidity, it will slow your touring down a bit. I went late Sept. 2 years ago, much hotter than expected, just plan extra breaks and H2O for those in your group affected. As previously mentioned, walk ons to many rides are a nice plus. Tour groups like any other large group tend to move slower than smaller ones, so just move ahead, around or away as needed! Wearing ponchos can be fun and there are still many great attractions to enjoy in this event.

I just got back from my longest vacation ever. I was there from August 21st until September 23rd. Being there most of September I saw a huge difference to past Septembers. I have always enjoyed the heat so that did bother me but the crowds were crazy this....

Ok I'll bite - You took a MONTH LONG vacation?????? I want your job!!! :sohappy:

Amen .. I just missed the free dining...Even if ya dont eat it all...like you said it's FREE! :hammer:
And Mom taught me never ta pass up FREE Food!...LOL :ROFLOL:

Goin in a few days and I hope the weather is a little more timid than these people are talkin, if not then, We'll make the best of it...

Now, if the food had been free for me this really would have been the best trip.

We used the dining plan last year, we paid for it, and we really liked it but I will really have to do the math for our next trip. I will have to pay for 4 adults and one child, because my two oldest will be 10 & 15 or older by the time we go. That adds up quick.

As for the tour groups, that one group of old people was the only "group" that I noticed. I have to say, they were really cute and I thought to myself.... that's gonna be me one day.

Is the heat still as bad in the beginning of October? Next year our trip is schedule for the 5th through the 12th.
I went years ago at the end of October and it was perfect weather. Now I am wondering if I made a mistake in booking earlier in October.

We just came back last night, yes it rained more than it usually has had in the past Septembers that we have gone in the past 12 years..But what are you gonna do thats Florida!!!! You make the most of it .On the 14th the night of MNSSHP it poured like we've never seen in September we ended up playing around in the rain with our girls, yeah we were soaked, costumes and all but we had fun...And a nice bonus was that they gave out one day tickets (rain checks if you will) that we used for the following Friday for MNSSHP , weather was soooo moch better!!! Oh Magic Kingdom definatly has some kinda drainage problem , we were walking in foot deep water in some areas!!!!! Lines , if you call them that we not bad at all, yes busier than previous Septembers but not anywhere near holiday season...Heat well HELLO ITS FLORIDA its hot!!!!! Some days it was gorgeous others it was muggy, but thats the benefit of almost everything being air-conditioned!!!! Nothing really that will keep me from going back in September.....Oh not that this had anything to do with going in September , but did anyone fly into JKF airport yeasterday??? We never do but had to yesterday....NEVER AGAIN!!! we were stuck on the runway for 3 1/2 hrs do to the uranian president ( or however its spelt) our flight home at 6:55pm turned into a 10:15 pm.....yeah nice considering our flight home was only 34 minutes from JFK....Oh well.....sorry for the drift!!!!!

FREE DINING: We had it, and I'd say the dining plan is a great deal, but only if you get it for free. I don't think there's any real value to it if you have to pay for it, you simply aren't likely to eat on site as much as the dining plan provides. ....
We ONLY eat on-site... So I completely disagree with that^.

We just got back from a week visit. I would also NEVER go back in September. We have gone 6 times over the second week in January, and it has been great. Especially our first year, 2003. I guess it was close enough to 9/11 that a lot of people still weren't traveling. There was NO ONE in the parks! Each year has gotten a little busier, but nothing like September. The heat is okay with me (even though I broke out in a heat rash), but the crowds were obnoxious. Not only was it crowded, but the people were extremely rude. It was still a good time, and MNSSHP on the 21st was awesome. I spoke with a cast member who said it was not always this busy in September, and we figured it was the free dining. I wouldn't bother doing that again either. It was kind of a pain in the butt. We (myself and 2 daughters) really don't eat the amount of food they give you, and it's really hard to waste and throw away food. That's just us...we go for the parks not the food. Also, we stayed at All Star Sports, and NEVER AGAIN. The rooms are being rehabbed (thank god), and of course we got an old one. YUCKY. I will save my dough and stay at AKL (where we pool hopped one day thanks to our main pool being closed!). That place is beautiful. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

We were there last week and the heat was awful. We went last Oct around the same dates as you and it was not so bad so I think that you will be fine. I just could not believe how humid it was last week. I live in Alabama and we had several days where it was above 100 degrees out side. Last week at Disney it seemed so much worse than that. We still made it and didn't complain to much. It was not bad enough to keep me from doing it again, it was just hot. :)

I will say that someone down there in Oct had said that the crowds were much worse at the beginning of Oct due to Fall Breaks in the schools. IDK??

Thank you for the reply. I am wondering if I should try to change it to later in the month. I did not really have any specific reason for picking those dates. I just looked at the calendar and said this is when we are going.
I went at the end of October in 2003 and it was a perfect time. I am not sure why I didn't just stick with that this time.
I wonder if the travel agent can change it and if there would be fees.
