Donald's Safari Breakfast

Ok...Sorry for asking soooo many questions about different restaurants, but we want to make sure we get everything right!

Is Donald's Safari Breakfast worth it? How is it compared to the breakfast at Crystal palace? Is the food good? Which characters are there other than Donald?

Thanks in advance!

The Tusker House breakfast is totally worth it! It has pretty much all of the standard buffet breakfast fare and then some specialty dishes. It's a festive atmosphere, the characters take the kids on a musical parade using african instruments. Characters vary, but you take a pic outside w/ Donald then inside we've usually seen Mickey, Minnie, Daisy & Goofy. The characters usually spend a decent amount of time at each table and sometimes come back a second time before you leave.

We haven't done CP in a while, but from what I remember Tusker is superior. Hope this helps!

We ate at Donald's breakfast last October during the Food and Wine Festival and all agreed that it was the best meal of the trip. The food was very good and the location is excellent. I highly recommend it.

$20.99, $11.99 (3-9) not including pricing. Seasonal Pricing will bump that up over any holidays...

Just a tip, while we wait to be seated one of us runs over and fastpasses the Safari for when we're finished. Enjoy!

We went to Tusker House for the 1st time on our Dec 2008 trip and absolutely LOVED IT!!! It is one of my new favorite character meals! The atmosphere is fun as it is decked out in an African theme and the food... I thought there was so much more of a variety then CP and Chef Mickey's. We will be returning this coming Dec. once again. Hope you enjoy it!

Would the seasonal pricing affect the first week on June?

I'm not sure. I wouldn't think so, but we haven't been in the summer in years. Initially holiday pricing was in effect for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Now I think they it covers virtually any holiday. I know at Christmas it seems like they start it earlier and earlier...

From Allearsnet: "Seasonal Pricing May Occur During Peak Periods Adult $24.49; Child $13.84."

It's not a huge increase but it starts to add up. If you call the reservation number they should be able to tell you if it is considered a "peak" time.

Our reservations are for 8:35 on a Saturday morning. Will the park be very crowded when we get out?

We were planning on going straight to KS, then heading to Everest to get FPs and to ride it, then trying to hit Dino and Primeval Whirl. Can all of this be done before massive crowds arrive?

We've eaten with Donald twce - once as the safari breakfast at Tusker House and prevously in its old format as the breakfastsaurus. The food is typical Disney fare but is plentiful and a wide choice. Our only disappointment at Tusker House was it was packed and kids seemed to be running around uncontrolled by their parents. Its still a great place to eat despite this

Best Breakfast buffet in WDW IMO. It's our tradition to go there on our first day at AK during our trip. As said, they have the tradition fare plus more. I love the juice they serve as well as the variety of breads. The cheese blintz's with either strawberry or apple compote are excellent.
Characters & overall atmosphere is very fun. Sometimes if you're lucky you can catch the Tam Tam's performance outside while you wait to be seated.

Assuming park opening is 9am and there are no EMH that morning: by the time you get out of breakfast it'll be after 9:30am, so there might be some decent lines. Nothing outrageous since you are going first week of June (before the full onslaught of out of school kids the next week). If we are in a character breakfast when the park opens, we dispatch a family member to get FPs for whatever the biggest draw is (Everest in your case). Then when we get out of breakfast we head for the second biggest (Kilimanjaro) and hope the lines are still reasonable.

Good luck!

Tusker house can't touch crystal palace.. you just cant beat crystal palace's atmosphere..........

I agree. Love the atmosphere of CP. Love looking out and seeing the castle as we dine. Of course my DH loves Piglet so there is that little bit extra for us too, since it's one of the only places to meet Piglet.

Tuskerhouse breakfest is great! I'm taking a couple of new Disney people there in the first week of June. The answer is yes to the summer surcharge. I went with the dining plan because of it. I think the charge starts on Friday June 4th or earlier if I do recall. I got my pin code for free dining so it was a gimmie to get that.

My girlfriend and I will be in AK at the end of May, I tried to book a reservation for this and it was already booked how long of a wait do you think it will be if we just walked up to get a table?

Thanks!

We love Donald's Safari Breakfast!

The food is really good. There is a lot of pasteries etc. for people who aren't really breakfast eaters. And there is also some different fare from the normal buffets, such as these potatoes that I think are kind of spicy and good. They also have really great juice that I can't seem to get enough of.

The characters have been pretty friendly in the past. We last saw Daisy, Mickey and Goofy there. I'm only sad that Donald no longer does the rounds.

We have found that if you time it right, you can eat early and be out waiting for them to open the park after breakfast.

I don't know if it beats CP or not. We usually do that one at least once a trip as well, but usually for lunch and not breakfast. I feel that they are different character experiences and both worthy of a stop.

And for the last poster, I really don't know what your chances would be of getting a fast walk up. We always have reservations since there are six of us, so I'm no help there. Maybe near the end of breakfast?
