Do you think Disney will ever make a really impressive playground again?

Also, when did opinions become fact? If someone hated PoTC would they be told they’re wrong? People are allowed to hold their opinions of what they like and don’t like, but stop confusing opinions as facts. It’s just weird.

I couldnt see this in any other park, maybe DHS but they would have to either use the entire animation courtyard expansion for it (which would be meh cause its such a huge space for 1 ride) or they could have put it in muppets/IJ area, replacing either. I prefer it in epcot.

I disagree entirely. It’s a transcending experience and it might not be for everyone, but that’s okay. It’s my top 3 in Disney world and I’m so happy with what imagineering accomplished .
I like it, but transcendent is quite a stretch for me. Horizons was transcendent. Tower of Terror. Even Everest fully working was better.

I’m going to say no. I have no faith in current Disney. They way overspend for attractions that under deliver most of the time….and they continue to remove playgrounds.

Pretty sad that Universal will be killing Disney in this aspect soon. Dreamworks land is a decent playground area, but Islands of Adventure kills it with Me Ship the Olive, If I Ran the Zoo, and Camp Jurassic. I bet the stuff they’ll put in Epic will be solid too.

For good reason. Cosmic Rewind is good, not great. Lots of people here don't think it's "Amazing." It's a very good to great indoor rollercoaster with marginal theming in the wrong park.
The ride system has amazing potential, Disney just misused it.

The big blue building is horrible, the story feels forced, the location choice is mind boggling… to me it falls in the same category as Harmonious, I thoroughly enjoyed Harmonious but because of all its flaws it never reached its potential, I think Cosmic suffers the same problem, I love the ride itself but with all its exterior and story flaws it doesn’t live up to its potential.

Could have been a 10, ended up being more like a 7, still a great ride but not the home run it should have been.

I didn't think this would be such a depressing thread. Oh well, points taken.

I don't have kids, I just think it was a really good example of going above and beyond where it wasn't really necessary; even being an adult the theming is amazing with these places.

The Boneyard makes me wish I was still small enough to actually play in it (HISTK I think I went in and TSI I know I did).
They just built a beautiful accessible, inclusive playground in Toontown at Disneyland (opened March-ish 2023 IIRC?. Obviously liability concerns didn't prevent them from doing that 🤷‍♀️

I loved the one in IoA in the Jurassic Park area.
This is my favorite playground of all time and anyone who hasn’t visited this area before needs to. The theming and sheer size of it blows my mind every time. You can spend hours exploring in there.

The brand new DreamWorks area is also impressive. The whole land is practically one huge themed playground. Then Universal also has Me Ship The Olive and If I Ran the Zoo. All of Universal’s play areas are amazing (even for adults) and so well themed.

If liability is such a problem then why does Universal continue to invest in playgrounds?

In my opinion, elaborately themed play spaces are “gifts” to guests. They don’t increase attendance or earn any money for the parks. They simply make the day more enjoyable for families. I feel like Disney loves to remove anything that isn’t a cash machine or anything that contributes to a guest’s overall well-being. Just having Coke Zero machines all over the place at Universal (unlimited ice water!) is enough to keep me going back.

I do love Tom Sawyer Island a lot, but anytime I make the effort to get over there lately, it’s got a lot of the fun areas roped off. And it really stunk when they closed down Aunt Polly’s. I wish they could have made it better and better over the years instead of slowly shutting it down. I will give Disney props for the new Moana water play area though.

I hope all playgrounds at the parks are removed. Other than being a distraction from the Disney ambiance, the biggest problem I have is they are filthy free for alls. This is a place where parents can go and not watch their children while they play on their phones. Meanwhile, kids are pushing, defecating, running, and yelling beyond just playing. I absolutely hate these areas.
So, you're basically saying you want to ban kids from Disneyland?

Epcot got this cheap generic off the shelf set not too long ago. Always busy from what I saw which shows Disney doesn’t even need to spend money on elaborate theming. The kids seemed happy.

100% agree. Could have been much better, like most attractions lately. Even RotR is somewhat of a miss, particularly with the maintenance and consistency problems.
