Just a thought here, while I have never been to Disneyland there are certainly rides and attractions there that I would love to experience. That being said we often wonder why stuff like Indiana Jones ride isn't at Magic Kingdom or anywhere else in WDW. Or the Matterhorn, or Mr. Toad, or a better version of Pirates.

Of course MK has things DL doesn't. Carousel of Progress, Philharmagic, Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree.

Personally I like the similarities AND differences and I think Disney does this intentionally and they should. It makes you want to visit each park even more.

What method would you prefer, would you want both parks to be more comparable or do you like the noticeable differences?

Not all of the differences you point out are really by design. At one time, both parks had CBJ and Mr. Toad. (DL also had CoP at one time, but it never existed in both parks simultaneously.)

But to answer your larger point, I enjoy the differences. If you grow up familiar with one park, you know enough to feel comfortable at the other with enough differences to make it feel new and exciting.

I love how they're different. I like how DL has the mattehorn, Davy Crockett canoes, and such. But I also like how the same rides are different. Pirates, Splash, Space, and Buzz Lightyear are so different than their cousins. This makes people (mostly Disney fans) spend money to go out to Cali to witness these differences. It's a win win for everyone. We get a bang for our buck and Disney is still making money.

I like how there both different. If they were the same it would be boring to vist Dl or Mk. I like that Dl has rides Mk does'nt have and along with Mk. Thats what makes you try each disney park that does'nt just have clones. Thats what makes them different.

I like how there are differences. One day when we do visit DL, I'll look forward to different and new things. It would be so boring and not even worth it to me if they were the same.

YES!

each disney park should offer something different.

i've only known wdw, but will be going to DL for the first time next week and cannot wait. i'm excited because i get to see the attractions wdw does not have.

walt even said that there should be a distinction between DL and whatever disney does in florida.

I have gone to WDW many more times than DL. The first trip to DL, I felt like I was having a dream of WDW, but it wasn't quite WDW. That being said, I think DL is fabulous, and I really enjoy the differences and the similarities between both parks. Now it is always a toss up on which one to visit each year.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that there was only one COP. The DL COP was brought to Magic Kingdom.

That's correct. The show debuted at the NY World's Fair in 1964, then was relocated to DL and eventually WDW. Some show elements have changed with time and relocation, but it is the same core presentation.

I do like some variety between DL and MK. For a creative standpoint, I suppose Imagineers also like some variety in the attractions they develop. However, I do believe that cloning (where thematically appropriate) is also a good thing because Disney should try to make its best attractions reach the largest possible audience, and most people will only ever visit one Disney resort in their life time. For example, I'd love to see IJA make its way to WDW someday.

I like the difference. Gives you a reason to go to both parks. Also, did you know that the Indiana Jones ride is in the same footprint as Dinosaur?

Sure, it makes it interesting! I love New Orleans Square at DLR, and I love that California Adventure is it's own themed park. Pretty soon we'll be able to visit Carsland...I can't wait to take my kids!

I want the parks to have even more differences than they do! I visit both every year and the clones really annoy me. Last year, when DL touted this new Halloween fireworks show, I was sorely disappointed to find out it was the same one I saw the week before at MNSSHP. I was annoyed when Soarin' over California came to EPCOT. It doesn't fit there and it was truly something beautiful and unique that the CA parks should have kept. I like that the MK parks have similar layouts, but I think they should still be more unique than they are.

I'm glad they offer different experiences and different versions of the rides. Who has been to WDW, would want to go to DL if it were exactly the same? I know I wouldn't, and it's good that they're different. WDW being 'home' to me, made my first trip to Dl all the more exciting as it was a unique and fresh approach to the disney experience.
