Do you know people who don't enjoy Disney World?

Yes, I do.
I have people (close family members or co-workers) that interupt me when Im talking about Disney and they say "I like Universal better." They just don't know what they are missing.

But, to each is own I guess:shrug:

For those of you whose spouses hate or don't enjoy Disney, I don't know how you do it. Maybe it just seems completely immoral to me because im a TOTAL "Disney,Mouse junkie" My fiance knew from the VERY beginning how much Disney is a part of my life, we have a TON of fun there. We enjoy all the parks, he will even get in on the pictures with me and normally he is always rolling his eyes at all the pictures I am taking

My husband didn't like it-- He's VERY frugal so I think the price turned him off. He also came down with strep throat the day we went, so I'm guessing that was probably most of the reason. ;) I'm determined to turn him into a disney-lover like myself.

lol just keep taking him, he will begin to love it! :)

My best friend basically hates it. Sometimes it gets annoying because I'll tell her I'm planning on going and she always says something like, "Again? Aren't you a little old for that? Theres so many little kids there..."

My boyfriend and I invited her and her boyfriend on a trip that we were already planning on, but she said no and opted for somewhere like Montreal instead, (because she wants to be able to drink on vacation; she's 20 and can't drink in WDW clearly).

Wonderful friends I have, basing an entire vacation off of drinking... I'd chose Disney any day, especially if thats the only motivation for the trip.

My husband wouldn`t go if I wasnt passionate about it!! The long flight from the UK makes him grumpy!! How ever once he experiences the magic he lightens up a bit. I do have to plan extras, such as riding the monorail from Epcot to Magic Kingdom. Then there is the boat ride to Fort Wilderness lodge which he likes---often when we get there we hire bikes and cycle round the camp ground. As we are in the Vacation Club, we can visit other resorts so we go to the gym at Saratoga. He doesn`t like the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom, so I go on my own and he goes for a coffee!!

My dad is a senior citizen who swears he never wants to go again, because of the crowds. He has gotten a bad case of anxiety in his old age and he doesn't like going to places like WDW anymore because he can't handle large groups of people in one place. It's sad, 'cause he would like to see the kids experience the parks, but his nerves just can't handle a trip like that anymore.

That's too bad. We old farts tend to cling to the familiar. As I battle my cancer I am determined to not let it run my life and Disney is my healing place. The joy I have experienced being at Disney with my grandchildren has been one of the highlights of my life. I'll get to be there with my first great-grandchild in August. Maybe your dad can be convinced to go with the assurance that he can chaparone the kids and babysit, if needed, at the resort. He might respond to the thought that he will be building memories for his grandkids. Good luck! Anxiety is a powerful force.

I know quite a few people who raise a few eyebrows every time I mention Disney World but the most interesting one would be my dad. He doesn't enjoy Disney World AT ALL but surprisingly not because it's childish or for the lack of alcohol or anything like that. The place is just to big for him to feel he can relax in.

Everything requires some sort of transportation, long hours of walking to soak in everything etc. A few years after our visit to DW I managed to get him to stay at the DLP resort and he had a blast. The hotel was a 5 minute walk from the MK (Newport Bay Club), the parks were located right next to each other, the temperature was much more bearable and so on.

Sorry to hear about your illness and all the best with it, let's hope you kick its ______ and I'm sure you will! It's great to hear that you have a place like Disney to help and great to hear that your family enjoy going with you, I bet the kids absolutely love being in Disney with their grandad and are lucky to have you there with them

If ever there was a place to help heal you it's Disney and once again all the very best with your battle.

I applaud you for battling your illness with such positivity and bravery. People like you bring tears to my eyes, and I wish I could give you a big hug. :)
I've tried to convince my dad to go, but he's a stubborn old man stuck in his ways. He says just to take lots of pictures for him, and some videos, and he will enjoy those when he sees them. :)

Yes and they are miserable. A lot of people tell me i'm immature or think i'm sad fpr going and getting excited about it and it annoys me...But in the end, they are the ones i feel sorry for. If they can't find any enjoyment in it then too bad for them.

Brinney, please know that I'm a veteran and all my brothers and sisters are in my prayers as are their famalies. As you show your dad the pictures tell him that they would be so much better if he was in them. Oh, virtual hugs count, thanks.

Thank you Mergatroid, I know that Disney is not everybodies cup of tea (sorry,) but it sure can make ones troubles go away for awhile.

I know people who say they do not like it just because I love it. Thye say Universal is a "real park". Negative people just try to take your joy away from you. Do they ever ask themselves why the Mouse has been around for over 80 years?

My dad, step-mom, and little sister (who was 6) came down last year and had an awful time. Apparently it didn't occur to them that they were coming during Spring break and they couldnt understand why it was so busy. They have said multiple times that they will probably never go back. It's sad because just a little bit of planing could have completely changed their experience, heck even asking me for advice would have helped. Nope.

What I do find interesting is how people react to Disney in different areas of the country. We moved to Florida about 18 months ago and the majority of people I talk to down here have a strong, positive connection to the parks. Back in Michigan it's totally different. Most people there 'don't get it' and don't see the need/point in going multiple times in a lifetime, they figure once they have done it once they don't ever need to go back.

Yep. Our neighbors went to WDW last year with their 6 yo. I sat down with them and gave them the spiel. Warned them to expect it to be hot, lots of walking, there will be lines, how to use FP, how to navigate things, what not to miss, etc.

They got back and when I asked them how it went, they didn't like it. Too hot, too much walking, lines, etc. I asked if you went on X.."no". How about this or that...."no". They basically didn't do anything I told them to do to make things go easier. Geez, no wonder you didn't get the most out of it. And to top it off, they sold the last day of their passes to some time share deal for like $40 for the 3 passes, which meant that they didn't even go to AK.

Then the complaints about how much it cost them to go to Universal for the day. I warned them about that too.

Then they told us of how they bought their new I phones while down in Disney. So they spend hours in a phone store while on vacation at WDW?

I have heard and told a similar story far too many times to count. Most people need not look past their own arrogance and ignorance to find out why they are so miserable.

I get the same replies as everyone else, the heat, waiting in lines and the cost. If I wanted to sleep in and lay around and do nothing, I would just stay home cause it is so much cheaper.

I've met quite a few people actually. They say it's too expensive, too crowded, too many bratty kids, or it's just non sense aimed at kids. Most adults I know say it's ok, but they go for their kids.
I m not ashamed to admit it. I love Disney. Yes it's a little pricey, but I have fun, so do my kids and I feel like a kid again. You can't put a price on that.
