Do strollers ever get stolen at WDW?

Do you think there is something I could do to prevent our stroller from being stolen? Put our name on it in permanent marker, install low-jack?

DH and I were just talking and we love our stroller because it is so smooth and it's really comfy for DS, but I think I would be paranoid the whole time.

My family and I are going at the end of October and I plan on taking my double stroller..Knowing that some people are dishonest and take other people's strollers etc.. Before I leave I'm purchasing a chain/lock..I'm going to insert the chain thru my back 2 wheels and connect with the lock..If anyone would try to take it they wouldn't be able to roll it and more than likely they won't have a tool to take the chain off..If it takes a few extra minutes to put the chain on so be it I don't care. Why should my children be uncomfortable..Have a great trip..Say when are you going in October?

Until my last two trips, I took my double MCClaren stroller for my twins (Thankfully they are now too old for it) to the parks, it made at least 6 trips and I NEVER had a problem. The only thing was you had to look for where the CM's moved it too, We always had soemthing ties on to Identify it and I never left anything of value in it.

My twins were so happy and comfortable in it, I wouldn't have taken any other. I'm jsut glad we're now done with that, less stuff to carry, especially since we jsut returned the 11th from 9 nights and it was super hot.

Disney is now selling tis own umbrella stroller too for $40, to looked pretty nice, but you'd have to mark it as your own so people didn't get confused.

Good Luck!:p

I am having my kids eat chocolate chip cookies and in true kid type fashion having them lick the handles to avoid the dishonest stroller handlers...

but seriously we are taking two cheap umbrella strollers purchased just for this trip ...plus seems to be easier to handle the single strollers on a bus than the double...

I agree with all the tips posted! Definitely putting something personal and noticeable will help prevent someone from taking your stroller. But here's one more tip if you're taking two strollers. We had two strollers with us and even if you park your stroller(s) in a designated stroller parking area it doesn't mean that a CM won't move it. While you're in an attraction they like to organize the strollers in nice neat rows. This is where putting something noticeable on your stroller comes in handy. But we went one step further and used the tacky scarves that we brought to tie our two strollers together. That way when a CM moved the strollers they knew that these two belonged together. This way we didn't have to go on the hunt for two strollers just one!

Just DON'T leave anything valuable in any stroller. A few weeks ago someone's personal (cheep) stroller was "taken" from Canada and left in the UK. their expensive video camera was not recovered (at least not immeditaly that I am aware of).

Man, that thief really took off with that one. I can't imagine traveling across the Atlantic with your only loot being a stroller, how drastic.

Disney frowns on locking the strollers though, don't they? They need to be able to move them to make room for more strollers in the stroller park area.

I never had a problem with our stroller. Up till the last trip I don't think I ever saw one like it in the parks. I did accidentally leave my camcorder in the basket when we went into the Tikki Room. Luckily no one touched it. I never leave anything of value in it but will leave the backpack/diaper bag. I figure if someone really wants to take diapers and extra clothes then maybe they really need them! Thank goodness we are done with stroller! My son will be 5 or 6 next time we go. If we do need stroller we'll just rent one.

We have taken our double stroller to Disney over 100 times since 2000. Nobody has ever taken anything and we did keep a back pack that we locked the zippers to the frame. Someone could have easily pulled it from the stroller if they wanted it. A proplem is parents not watching their kids, we would come back to the stroller and have someones 3 year old taking our kids hat or drinks. I think the class of people who goes to Disney really rules out alot of theft from other park visitors. If you can't find your stoller then there is a 99.999% chance that someone took it by mistake or a cast member moved it. Put something on the stroller that makes it stand out like a jacket, hat, towel anything that would make it noticed. Then park it in the stroller parking area. And if you are still worried, lock the back wheel to the frame with a small bike lock.

We took a Maclaren this last trip to both FL and CA. When we took our travel system stroller we tied a ribbon to the handle and also had a name tag on it.

A friend of mine has a Bugaboo and she used a bike lock at Disneyland and she said a cast member did cut it and told her she can't do that anymore.

I think we are going to get a nice umbrella stroller like a maclaren to take, which will be comfy for baby but totally replaceable if it disappears.

A few years ago when my son was 4 we rented one at Disney. We had it parked on Main street with our name in the pouch in the back - came out and it was gone! At first we thought we parked it somewhere else, but we never found it :(

Luckily, we had nothing in it, but we did pay $8 (I think) to rent it for the day.

If I'm not mistaken but you could have gone to the stroller rental place and they would have replaced it as long as you showed your receipt. I think it's more common for the rentals to be "taken" since there are so many of them.

we always rent the strollers at the parks and never had a problem. but even though as one poster states, its is disney, there are people everywhere looking to steal, especially during busy times. rule of thumb, don't bring or leave anything that you can't afford to lose.
at the end of our trip we always seem to have a stroller coupon left so i always wait to see if a family who might use a stroller comes walking by and i give them the coupon, most of the time they are quite taken aback.

I would definitely second the notion of tying a brightly colored, gaudy scarf to the stroller. As our group has had multiple strollers on past visits, having these identifiable scarves on our strollers made it so much easier to find the strollers in the parking areas- especially when you have a stroller similar to most of the others on property! We've never had any trouble with being unable to find our strollers, even if CM's have moved them.

We don't leave valuables in the stroller when they are parked. We might leave diapers or some small snacks in the basket, but like somebody else mentioned... if somebody is desperate enough to take diapers... let them have them! We can get more, if needed.

On our most recent visit, not only did we have the scarves tied to the strollers, all of our strollers (I think we had 3 total in the group) had some other identifying tag- like my kids' double stroller had one of those Mickey Mouse weights (from one of the mylar balloons) that dangled from the stroller handles. Make your stroller as visible to your party as needed.

Have a great trip!

We took our stroller last summer & I doubt if anyone even touched it except for the employees who would move them from time to time outside of certain attractions in order to line them up.
