Let's no go across the pond to European Harbor, even though it's directly above California Coast. This is more of a culturally immersive area, even though a few rides are present. Not many, though.

OVERVIEW:
Known for its beauty, rich culture, and amazing history, the cities of Europe have been a large tourist attraction for decades. Some of these cities include the unique nautical port of Venice, the quaint Spanish city of Madrid, the urban Dutch metropolis of Amsterdam, and the culturally rich city of Paris. All four of these cities have been places of interest and continue to be in these days.

With the creation of Adventure World, Jeff Cotton has invited guests to explore these four cities and uncover the wonder and majesty of each location. Not just that, but they will also be immersed in the cultures of Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands as well. They can explore more of their culture, history, and stories, from a gondola ride through the canal to an exploration of a Venetian fortress to a dash across a French kitchen, there’s something for travelers of all ages.

The best part of this area is how well these areas flow together. Rather than going from place to place, these four countries are connected by borders (with the exception of the Netherlands) and all of them have a modern theming. The cultures are also all similar to each other.

However, there is more between these cities. Located between the Amsterdam and Paris area is the retrofuturistic world of Discoveryland and between the Venetian fortress and Paris is the nautical realm of Mermaid Kingdom, but those will be gone over later.

Across the canal from Venice is a big 13th Century Venetian fortress. Guests are allowed to go inside and explore the place, learning about many explorers such as Marco Polo. Along the way, they can learn more of the lore surrounding Venice as well as the history of the Venetian Republic. They can even board a ship and explore it, firing cannons, reading a map, and exploring the interiors of the ship. This is similar to the Fortress Explorations attraction at Tokyo Disneysea but without the Society of Explorers and Adventurers.

Join us tomorrow as we make it over to another "rattraction" that will leave you hungry for more.

Whoa, some of the architecture for this section could rival DisneySeas'. Which is possibly the greatest looking theme park in the world.

BACKSTORY AND OVERVIEW:
Between time and space, there is a place where ideas are brought in from all over. This is where the futuristic ideas of Leonardo Da Vinci and Benjamin Franklin were fully realized and brought to life. As more visionaries lived, more ideas came in.

One such visionary was a French author named Jules Verne. Receiving dreams of this place, he was inspired and unknowingly told of real events. A madman in a strange submarine going on adventures, a cannon launching people to the moon, and most recently, a scientist going all around the world in just 80 days. This last man was a real man and secret friend of his, Phileas Fogg. When Verne died in 1905, Fogg went around the world looking for others like Verne with great ideas, such as H. G. Wells.

Then, one stormy night in 1910, a rogue wave sent Fogg through the currents of time to this place, where every visionary’s unrealized ideas had become a reality. Fogg was inspired by this and met some of Verne’s characters, including Captain Nemo, who turned out to be real people.

When Fogg returned, he was more interested in exploring more places, which led him to create the Grand Adventure Society. Over a century later after Fogg’s death, Jeff Cotton has revisited this place and has added it to Adventure World, wanting guests to discover all of these amazing ideas of the future. Here, they can travel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Go Around the World in 80 Days, travel From the Earth to the Moon, and more in a land of yesterday’s tomorrow.

BACKSTORY:
Five thousand years ago, the city of Atlantis sank into the sea. Since then, there have been people who have been looking for it, trying to prove its existence. One such person is the bold explorer and sea captain, Nemo. For a long time, he has been searching the seas for the lost city but has been unable to find it.

But now, he is closer than ever to finding it. Within a lost trench in the Atlantic, he believes that there is a secret passage into the lost city. However, his submarine, the Nautilus, is too big to fit in the trench, so he is sending smaller submarines into the sea to go down and investigate. Guests take on the role as explorers working with Nemo and commandeering these submarines to find the lost city of Atlantis.
QUEUE:
Located near a recreation of the Nautilus (as it appeared in Disney’s 1954 film adaptation of the novel) is a submarine building that guests go inside. Here, they walk past several diving equipment dating back to the 19th Century. Later on, guests go down a ramp and into a map room, where maps of failed expeditions to Atlantis are displayed as well as a portrait of Captain Nemo based off of James Mason (who played Nemo in the film.)

After this, guests travel into the inventing room, where complicated machines, as well as a model for the sub, are seen. It is here where guests board a small, two-person submarine with a flashlight in front of it. Guests get in and the door closes behind them.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
Like the similar Tokyo Disneysea attraction, the vehicles don’t really go underwater. It is all an illusion played with bubbles and projections.

Once the submarines go underwater, Nemo contacts the submarine, introduces himself, and tells them to follow the trail he laid behind. Guests can look down around the coral reef and find a trail of lanterns going along the ocean floor.

The submarines go through the coral reef and see fish. The submarines also go through a shipwreck and see some buried treasure, but Nemo tells them to leave it and focus on the mission. As the submarine keeps going, it goes towards darker waters and starts to descend, giving the illusion that it is going into the trench.

Down in the sea, the submarines come across lit-up fish such as anglerfish and lightfish. When going along the ocean floor, there are no signs of life or Atlantis. Disappointed, Nemo is about to make the submarines levitate out of the trench, but before he can do it, the submarines are attacked by a kraken. The submarine loses control and goes down into a dark cave.

Nemo regains control and asks where they are, and then he sees that they are following volcanic rivers through the cave. The submarine then proceeds into a large, open space full of ancient ruins. Around these ruins are the mermen, who take the submarines with much interest. Nemo tells the mermen not to touch his submarine, which they obey.

The mermen speak in an unknown language and follow the submarine through the city, which Nemo is able to translate. They say how after their city sank, they had to adapt to a new life underwater as fish creatures and established a new society under the sea. The merfolk then grab onto the submarine against Nemo’s wishes and give it their power. With this, the submarine goes up and returns to the surface, passing the Nautilus before returning to the station. Nemo thanks the guests for their help and is surprised by the source of the merfolk. He then proceeds to have them go out and hopes to travel with them again. From there, guests leave the submarine and take a passage back to Discoveryland.

Join us tomorrow as we travel From the Earth to the Moon in a thrilling roller coaster ride.

Let's look at From the Earth to the Moon, as well as an ambitious new attraction based off of Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days.

OVERVIEW:
Located in the heart of Discoveryland is a reimagined Space Mountain with a retro futuristic theme inspired by Jules Verne’s 1865 novel From the Earth to the Moon. This takes inspiration from the former attraction at Disneyland Paris. Despite this, it has more similarities to its successor, Space Mountain: Mission 2. Although the ride vehicles have a silver copper design, they take the modern version of the ride’s vehicles with shoulder vests.
Bt0yTGu5VCjmaMPskk9ZperJFGJQ2FPlc8R7zFzEaIEXJCHXgM119my_L-p3q84amdUubi1STlHDMODtR4w4Swvmj5TxfNgWPHJirYQDNy4LrOhQ_lrExRzsMnB2PFtXT9yxhwimDp8j25VQo3i9T4v51rf2KkAUqgaQAzUzAQhou31IGwGBIL39SdM

QUEUE:
Unlike the Parisian version of the ride, guests go in through a big building outside of the mountain. Here, guests are immersed in a Victorian-designed building with American flags hanging around (as the novel was set soon after the American Civil War.) All around the room are steampunx machines. On a telegraph, a woman’s voice gives them their mission to the moon.

Guests then proceed into a room where the sketches of the Baltimore Gun Club are displayed. This includes several futuristic-looking gun designs as well as the design for a giant cannon called the Columbiad Cannon, which will be used to launch guests to the moon.

Soon, guests will enter a loading area, where they get on their spacecraft. They pull down their lap bars and put their things in a pouch, and then they prepare for the ride.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The spacecraft moves through a tunnel and onto the Columbiad Cannon, which is pointed up the mountain and toward the top. It stops at the bottom of the cannon, and then, with a puff of smoke, the spacecraft launches. Up atop the mountain, the edge of the cannon releases a puff of smoke, giving outside guests the illusion that the cannon has fired, which inside the cannon, guests are fooled by screens that depict them moving through the sky and into outer space.

The ride vehicles approach the moon, but then they drop and go through an asteroid field. This involves an inversion and a turn afterwards, as well as a drop down. The vehicle then goes through a wormhole of red light and enters the inner solar system, going past planets in a corkscrew loop. Afterwards, it goes through another wormhole and ends up in a star space of comets, stars, and galaxies. Suddenly, a supernova explodes and the spacecraft has to dive and duck to escape, going through a third inversion before going up and then down into a tunnel, where a third wormhole transports them back to the station.

When returning to the station, guests get off their spacecraft and gather their belongings. The woman gives an exit spiel as they do.

POST-RIDE:
Guests follow a hallway to a place where their photos taken during the ride are displayed. They proceed through here and into the Baltimore Gun Club’s emporium. In the Gun Club’s emporium is Galaxy Stuff, which sells merchandise themed to the attraction.

BACKSTORY:
In 1872, Phileas Fogg had been able to pull off a great feat, to travel around the world in just 80 days. Jules Verne had met the man and learned his story, writing it down and publishing it as a book. With this, the two became good friends and shared their worlds with each other.

However, after Verne’s death in 1905, Fogg fell into despair. However, rather than grieving over his departed friend and going into depression, Fogg decided to find others like Verne who were seeing new visions of tomorrow. He went around the world for many years, meeting people like H. G. Wells and other science fiction authors and illustrators.

Then, in 1910, a rogue storm washed Fogg up in Discoveryland, where all of the visionaries of the past had their dreams made into reality. In this land, he met a group of scientists who were quite interested in his adventure and wanted others to have such an adventure. Although Fogg never agreed to this, calling it a “dangerous mistake,” Jeff Cotton would come to Discoveryland himself and give them permission.

Now, explorers coming to Discoveryland are allowed to follow in Fogg’s footsteps and embark on a globe-trotting adventure. What could possibly go wrong?

(This is one of the two major story attractions of the resort, the second being Kunlun Quest in Asian Gulf, but that will be discussed later. This attraction is made on a Rise of the Resistance-level scale, making it truly exciting. Similar to that attraction, guests go in with boarding groups to control wait times.)

QUEUE:
Guests walk into a retro futuristic expo, where several Steampunx-era machines are on display. Among them are airships, automobiles, and advanced trains. Looking up, guests see a sign saying how this is the vehicle expo of Discoveryland. Guests continue to go through the expo, seeing more retro futuristic machines.

PRE-SHOW:
Soon enough, guests will enter a Victorian room full of sketches for many machines. Behind glass, three 19th Century scientists, Edgar, Thaddeus, and Frank, are seen working with machines. Following a disastrous attempt to fly on a jet-pac, the scientists look and see the guests there.

Edgar: “Oh, what do we have here?”

Thaddeus: “Did they see that failed jet-pac launch?”

Frank: “Sure hope they didn’t. We were going to test these on people, and we can’t let them know that they are unstable.”

Thaddeus: “Wait a minute, are these members of that Grand Adventure Society?”

Edgar: “I don’t know, are they? Read that letter from Mr. Cotton again, Frank.”

Frank goes over to a table and reads a letter.

Frank: “Dear scientists of Discoveryland. I am sending you some of my associates to test your new gadgets in an adventure around the world. Fogg may never have approved of it, but I do.”

Edgar: “Ah, it still sounds nice even after the seventh time reading it.”

Thaddeus: “Guys, this is them. These are those associates. They are here to take our technology and go around the world, just like Professor Fogg did.”

Edgar: “They are? Well, that’s great. We should send them on their way.”

Frank: “Not yet, Edgar. It’s a little rude to not explain why they are doing this.”

Edgar: “Fine. So, a long time ago, we met this man named Phileas Fogg who traveled around the world in 80 days. We wanted to recreate this experience, but he wouldn’t let us because he said that it would be a dangerous mistake. However, we thought he was just being dramatic, so we kept on bargaining with him, and he kept saying no. He must’ve been fed up with us because he left for a long time, but recently, another member of the Society named Jeff Cotton has come and told us how we can do this with you guys. There, I said it. Happy now?”

Frank: “Yes.”

Thaddeus: “Anyways, so here’s how this is going to work. Your journey will begin where Fogg’s did in London. From there, you shall take an airship over Europe and to Cario. Then, you will take a boat to Bombay, then a train across India to Calcutta. You shall take a glider to Shanghai, and then a boat across the Pacific and to San Francisco. From there, you shall take a train to New York and then a new machine to return to London.”

Frank: “It is a long trip, but hopefully, it’ll all be worth it.”

Edgar: “Now let’s send them off. Open the portal to London, where they will board their airship.”

With this, a door opens and guests walk through it. In a nighttime London scene, guests walk towards the harbor, where a big airship is. They go inside and hold on to bars as the ship takes off, beginning the first part of the ride experience. From overhead, guests see the daytime sights of France, Switzerland, and Rome as they fly. As they head towards a dark Egyptian area, however, the airship shakes and is pulled closer to the ground. Edgar’s voice comes from the intercom.

Edgar: “Listen. We’ve got some good news and we’ve got some bad news. The good news is that you are arriving in Cairo. The bad news is that some British forces are there, and no offense, but I think they might be on to you. They’ve already hooked your airship and are pulling it into bay. Don’t worry, because Frank is coming to rescue you.”

When the airship doors open, a British officer stands there. They force them through the streets of Cario and to a small building. Inside this building are British maps and flags since Egypt was a British-controlled area in the 1870s. Guests are loaded into one of many interrogation rooms, where behind glass is a British officer, who gives an introduction.

Fix: “Good evening, people. My name is Detective Fix. I’ve been dispatched from London in search of a criminal named Edward Lynch. We suspect that he may be among you since we saw the crook run in the direction of your airship. Don’t try to do anything funny because I am a seeker of truth, and I can get it out of anyone no matter what.”

Just then, an officer comes in and tells them that some of the other people need attending to. With this, Fix leaves the room with a warning.

Fix: “Don’t you dare go anywhere. I warn you, it’ll be the worst mistake you ever make.”

Shortly after Fix leaves the room, a wall blows up. On the other side is a Discoveryland scientist sent by Frank. Guests sneak out into the Cario alleyway and board a trackless vehicle (similar to the ones in Rise of the Resistance, but retro futuristic). Two trackless vehicles are in the alley. Frank gives a safety spiel from the vehicles, explaining how he is controlling the vehicles from London and how he will be able to escort you back to London, but not before completing the journey around the world.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The vehicles go forwards through the streets of Cario. While boarding the ship, guests are spotted by British soldiers and are shot at, but they escape. Hiding in the cargo bay of the boat, the vehicles are transported to India.

Upon their arrival in India, guests travel through an Indian festival. Here, elephant-riding Indian people and belly dancers are seen. Here, the vehicles board a train and get into compartments. From there, they travel across the jungles of India, and eventually, they arrive in Calcutta. However, Fix is there and confronts the vehicles as they exit the train, holding a gun towards them.

Fix: “Thought you could get away, didn’t you? Well not this time!”

The vehicles then flee as British officers chase them through the Indian marketplace. The vehicles then board a smaller airship to take them to Shanghai. When closing the doors, however, a cannon is fired and the airship sinks.

Emerging in the forests of China, the vehicles go around, seeing giant pandas and monkeys. The vehicles travel through a small Chinese village and see several villagers. An old man then willingly takes them on his carriage to Shanghai.

When reaching Shanghai, the vehicles travel through the city. However, a group of mercenaries hired by Fix find them and travel to arrest them. Luckily, the vehicles board the ship to San Francisco just as the ship is sailing away. The mercenaries try to stop them, but the vehicles light some fireworks at the mercenaries and drive them away.

When arriving in San Francisco, the vehicles go through the city and board a train. However, Detective Fix is on the train, about to arrest them.

Fix: “I see that you’ve fallen right into my trap. There’s no escaping now.”

The vehicles turn around to escape, but it is too late, for the doors have closed behind them. The vehicles then go through the train as it goes across the desert. Fix corners them at the end, but Frank appears and takes him out.

Soon, the vehicles safely arrive in New York. Once there, they go out into the secret workshop at the harbor. There, they board a jet-pac flying machine, which was built by American engineers as well as Edgar, who appears and congratulates them for making it this far. The vehicles then board one of two of the flying machines, which starts a motion simulator part of the ride. The vehicle moves up and speeds over the sea. After traveling through a thunderstorm, during which the escape nearly fails, the vehicles crash in London, going through the Big Ben and landing at the harbor.

Upon arriving, Thaddeus greets them as they go to the unload station. Here, guests get off their vehicles and proceed into the final scene of the experience.

POST-RIDE:
Guests go into a gun shop but encounter an angry Detective Fix in there.

Fix: “There you are! I’ve had it up to here with you guys, but now I’m finally going to….”

Just then, Frank enters the room.

Frank: “Hey, why are you after these people anyways?”

Fix: “Don’t interrupt me, sir.”

Frank: “Hey, I’m just curious why you’re after these people.”

Fix: “Because Edward Lynch is among them.”

Frank: “Edward Lynch? He’s already been arrested and taken into custody. That happened before you even came after them.”

When hearing of this, Fix looks at the guests in an embarrassed way.

Fix: “Lynch is not among them? Well, now I feel stupid.”

Frank: “We all make mistakes, sir. It’s part of being human.”

Fix: “Don’t rub it in.”

Frank: “I guess this is why Fogg said that traveling the world was dangerous. If you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, then things get ugly.”

Fix: “Exactly. Sorry for all the trouble I caused and I hope you guys enjoyed your little trip.”

Frank: “I think it’s time to let them back to Discoveryland.”

Fix: “What’s that?”

Frank: “Um, I said, let’s let them go back to…….Disneyland, yes. Go right through the portal and there you are. Thanks for traveling with us and we hope you come again.”

A door then opens and guests follow a secret passage back to Discoveryland. This brings them into the Aquatopia area, where they can see the boats going.

Join us tomorrow as we see other, smaller attractions in Discoveryland, such as Aquatopia and the Orbitron.

Looks like we're on the same page for Space Mountain. I did a very similar version with the same exact name for Disneyland Canada. I guess geniuses can sometimes think alike.

I forgot to show concept art for European Harbor and Discoveryland, so I will do that now.

IMG-8563.jpg
Sitting in the center and surrounded by water is the Venetian fortress. On the left side is Venice while on the right is Paris and Amsterdam.
IMG-8569.jpg

Discoveryland is depicted with a cosmic scene, just like Tomorrowland. In the center if From the Earth to the Moon. On the left is the Orbitron, the Nautilus, and the building that houses 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. On the right is Cafe Hyperion and the entrance to Around the World in 80 Days.

Now, without further adieu, the Mermaid Kingdom.
IMG-8567.jpg

In the center of the picture is Prince Eric's Castle, which hearkens to the Mediterranean style. On the left is the land with the village and on the right is the "underwater" city of Atlantica, even though it is really seen on the land in the picture. This is like how it is in Tokyo Disneysea.

MERMAID KINGDOM

G0wp1HG7dR3n3qL1ztnZJjQ3H-UVO0P8Fp-nEmoupT6Hke8AQq62adCfGrbdxqf4WoPX_q7ZK_NANsPbVMoBNhojK7fNLyHJiYejVStTV-Y7yc-B0_ciJjUjiDqV2IqtGKjs6XFisxfh6OJ40junKmKoU-AMGZ62v1WHaviS3cSn6rniiTcOB_K2EKE

OVERVIEW:
When traveling the seas, Phileas Fogg had a fascination with mermaids. When he actually found them, he was thrilled, so Jeff Cotton found that it made perfect sense to include an area of mermaids in Adventure World. Looking at the European world of the 19th Century, he found a time and space where they were, and so he took it and placed it in Adventure World.

Located between the streets of Paris and the Venetian fortress is a seaside kingdom where the world of The Little Mermaid comes to life. Despite being a small area, this has a lot to do with King Triton’s Concert and the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. This will immerse fans of the film and make them feel part of that world.

There are two areas in this small place. The land is the first of these areas, recreating Prince Eric’s kingdom from the film. Guests can dine inside his castle or relive the story in the grottos beneath. The sea is the second part of the area, where guests go into Atlantica and are immersed in the underwater city, seeing a show, dining, shopping, playing, and even meeting Ariel herself.

Now this area is a little problematic to me. I’ve been worried about it having too little and not being enough, not to mention how the Little Mermaid ride does receive some backlash. I would have all of the kiddie rides that Tokyo Disneysea’s Mermaid Lagoon has, but I’ve already had several kiddie rides located in Pixar Pier (even though the area is also home to the big thrill ride, Incredicoaster), so that wouldn’t go well having two kiddie areas. I just hope that this will be enough for people to see. If it’s not something worth walking through, then I will not have it.

In an extended version of the ride, travel through an artistic retelling of the classic film aboard a “clamobile.”

QUEUE:
Like the Magic Kingdom version of the ride, guests travel through the grottos near Prince Eric’s castle. Down here are shipwrecks, an interactive Scuttle animatronic, and some shells. Soon, they will pass by some buckets of water, drums, and other things to make wait time fun. At the end of this, they will enter the loading area, where a big painting retelling Ariel’s story is seen. Guests then board a “clamobile” omnimover ride and sit down as the lap bars come up.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The ride starts out by going into a shipwreck, where Scuttle is. Here, he tells about the story of Ariel, wondering where to start. He suggests the ending, then the middle, and then decides to start at the beginning, but even he doesn’t know where the story begins. Afterwards, the vehicles go down underwater, using projections to create this illusion.

The story starts out as the vehicles go through Ariel’s Grotto, where human stuff can be found all around. Guests pass underneath Ariel, where she and Flounder sing “Part of your World” as they go down. Soon, the ride goes back out of water, seeing the sinking of Eric’s boat and his rescue by Ariel. In the meantime, his dog Max is seen in the background, panting, as Ariel watches the recovered Eric from a rock, singing about how one day, she’ll be with him.

The vehicles go back underwater and through a vibrant ocean setting, where fish are dancing. Sebastian is singing “Under the Sea” as Ariel dances around. Fish fly around too, going overhead. Soon, they pass through Ariel’s grotto again with Prince Eric’s statue in ruins. Ariel is seen sobbing on the bed while Flotsam and Jetsam are seen overhead, claiming to be able to make her human.

The ride takes a darker twist when going through Ursula’s lair. There, some seaweed people are in the shadows. In the meantime, Ursula looks at her crystal ball, singing “Poor Unfortunate Souls” while overseeing a plan to make Ariel human. In the meantime, Ariel is seen on the other side, signing a paper.

The vehicles go out of the water again and go to the village, where villagers are dancing and playing music. In the meantime, Ariel and Eric are touring the kingdom while Sebastian watches them. Later on, the vehicles go through a bayou scene, where Ariel and Eric float in a boat while Sebastian sings “Kiss the Girl” while aided by the animals.

In the next scene, things take a darker turn as it goes past the wedding ship. Eric and his bride (Ursula in disguise) are seen to be getting married while sea life is jumping on and crashing the wedding. In the meantime, Ariel regains her voice, but as vehicles go into the next scene, Ursula says how she’s too late.

In the climax of the ride, guests go past a stormy scene where Eric is onboard a shipwreck while trying to navigate. Ursula is seen as a giant, holding Triton’s trident and wearing his crown. However, the ship fires its cannons at her (rather than slamming into her like it did in the film) and Ursula starts to tumble.

In the final scene, guests pass the wedding of Ariel and Eric, where fireworks are set off. King Triton and his daughters oversee the wedding. As guests go past a rocky scene, they see Scuttle again, who concludes the story. After returning to the load station, guests get off their vehicles and follow a passage back to the surface.

Join us tomorrow as we see more of Mermaid Kingdom.

Well, this is lame. I only have one other attraction in the area and I forgot all about it. Therefore, I put it in a separate post.

Explore Ariel’s grotto and play in the deep blue. This playground is a good place for young children to get their energy out and interact with the wonders of the human world, scavenged and stored here by Ariel.

Hopefully tomorrow's post, which will cover the dining, shopping, and entertainment, will redeem me from this mistake.

BV - Ariel’s Grotto

The fan-favorite restaurant from Disney’s California Adventure has returned in a new park. Instead of making a family dining experience more about the adults like what Disney did to the DCA version by making it Lamplight Lounge, this keeps the family promise and makes it a buffet as well. Here at the surface, guests can dine with Ariel and the other princesses. (Reservation Required)

BW - Sebastian’s Calypso Kitchen

Families can stop by this restaurant and eat up, taking fast food to go. This features many foods from the surface, including chicken tenders and spaghetti, as well as things from the sea, like salmon.

SHOPPING

BX - Village Market

Fans of The Little Mermaid can buy things based on the film here on land. Within a market in Prince Eric’s kingdom, they can buy a bunch of accessories from the film. Whosits and Whatsits Galore. Need Thingamabobs? They’ve got twenty.

BY - Kiss the Girl Fashions

In Atlantica, beauty products are sold to girls of all ages. This includes perfume and make-up as well as jewelry and dresses.

ENTERTAINMENT

King Triton’s Concert

Within the big theater inside Atlantica, watch the celebration of the seas with King Triton, but what’s this? Where’s Ariel? She was supposed to be here, but she isn’t. See the show to find out what happened to her.
Ariel herself meets her fans in her grotto.
Join us tomorrow as we go down by the bay at Pixar Pier, where the magic of Pixar meets the flare of Victorian Boardwalks.

Let's look at the artwork from Pixar Pier.
IMG-8564.jpg

As you can see, it is slightly different than the one at DCA. There are Up-themed attractions, Toy Story Mania takes the look is has in Tokyo, and the ferris wheel as a Pixar ball in it.

Now that this is taken care of, let's see what the area has to offer.
PIXAR PIER

BACKSTORY AND OVERVIEW:
As Steve Jobs and John Lasseter led Lucasfilm’s 3-D animated short films in the 1980s, a realm was developed where all of their characters lived. When the animation company became Pixar, it was further expanded. As the Grand Adventure Society led by Alberta Johnson would discover, the characters were building an amusement park within their realm, calling it “Pixar Pier.”

With the development of Pixar from short films to movies, the pier expanded. Through the 1990s and 2000s, the Pier introduced characters from these movies, continuing into the 2010s to modern day. Now, it is a big boardwalk park where guests of all ages can have fun, from kiddie rides to extreme thrill rides.

This area is split into six neighborhoods: Wilderness Explorer Bay, Inside Out Head-Quarters, Toy Story Boardwalk, Pixar Promenade, Incredibles Park, and Cars Lot. Each area has rides and attractions themed to the Pixar worlds.

I’ve wondered whether or not to keep this due to the harsh reception of the area in DCA. However, this one is very different and not built on budget cuts and luring. I believe that this will be a good place for a family area, even though it also features one of the more thrilling coasters in the park.

ATTRACTIONS:

26 - Dog Force Fliers

C-Ticket
Must be 42 in
On this wild mouse coaster themed to Disney*Pixar’s Up, climb aboard one of Charles Muntz’s dog planes for a flight around the air. (This is almost exactly like Goofy’s Sky School in DCA, except the posters are replaced with trees, the track is smoother, and there are no cutouts of anything but instead a realistic-looking sky setting.)

27 - Up, Up and Away

Must be 38 in

Located near the water is a circular area where Carl Frederickson’s house is flying in the air. Guests can sit on benches tied to balloons and go up to the house in a Jumpin’ Jellyfish-style ride. Some guests may even look up in the window and see Kevin the bird poke her head out of the house from time to time.

Join us tomorrow as we see the Inside Out Headquarters.

29 - Imagination Spin

In a colorful pavilion, spin around on Bing Bong’s “rockets'' as vibrant music plays. (This is basically an Inside Out take on Francis’s Ladybug Boogie at the former Bug’s Land area at DCA.)

Come inside the boardwalk building and play a series of carnival games with the Toy Story gang.

QUEUE:
Like the Tokyo Disneysea version of the ride, guests enter a Victorian-era building with Woody’s head in the front. There, they go through his mouth and go around a boardwalk setting. They will see a bunch of advertisements for the games played on the ride, and even pass by an audio-animatronic Potato Head dressed like a Barker, which interacts with guests as they pass by. Guests pick up a pair of 3-D glasses as they go into the loading area. They soon proceed into the loading area, where they hop aboard their midway-style vehicle, pull their lap bars down, and get ready to play. The vehicle has two sides, which makes it so that players on both sides can fire at screens on both sides of the halls.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The vehicles go through a dark hallway designed to look like a carnival and proceed to the practice zone. Here, guests can test their aim with Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Rex, throwing pies at targets. This is the only game in the ride that doesn’t score points, but serves more as a place for guests to practice before going onto the other games. The guests all get one minute for every game, making it so that the ride can go on.

The first game that comes on is Hamm’s Egg Toss, where guests shoot eggs at animal-shaped targets in a farm setting. Bonus targets also come around to give guests the opportunity to score more points. After a minute, the game will stop and the vehicles will go to the next game.

The next game is Rex’s Balloon Pop, where guests shoot darts at Dinosaur-themed balloons in a prehistoric setting. There is also a volcano that erupts red balloons and gives guests a chance to score more points, but first they have to shoot the hidden balloon to make it erupt. After a minute, the vehicles will move on.

The third game is Buzz Lightyear’s Ring Toss, where guests shoot rings at aliens in a space setting. When the rings go around the aliens, it causes things to happen. Those wearing jetpacks will take off while those without them will get beamed up. After a minute, the game moves on.

The fourth game is a new game inspired by Toy Story 4 called Duke Kaboom’s Daredevil Shot. Here, guests shoot balls into holes in a stadium setting, similar to a ski-ball thing. Also, Forky makes a cameo at the end of the game, congratulating guests for their work.

The fifth game is Sarge’s Plate Breakers, where guests shoot small balls at plates in an army camp setting. Helicopters and Tanks carry more plates for extra points. When this game ends, the vehicles move forward to the next game.

The final game is Woody’s Roundup, where guests shoot western-themed targets in an old west setting. This is the longest game of the batch with the most screens and the fact that it takes two minutes instead of one. During the game, the vehicles move over one screen and into a mine shaft, where additional points can be scored. In the last thirty seconds, guests fire away at big targets to get more points. After this is up, they exit the area.

Before returning to the loading station, guests stop to see their points. For every score, there is a stuffed animal that is won (in the game, not in real life.) After receiving their virtual prize, guests will return to the loading station and get off of their vehicle.

POST-RIDE:
After the ride, guests will exit through a hallway into a Toy Story-themed store called Barrel of Monkeys.

31 - Jessie’s Critter Carousel

B-Ticket

Located near Toy Story Mania is a wild west carousel where guests can hop on one of Jessie’s critters and ride them around. This is like the ride that has been placed in DCA.

Join us tomorrow for a walk along the Pixar Promenade.

On a Ferris Wheel, hope on some gondolas for a calm ride above Pixar Pier. This features gondolas with Pixar pairs on them, as well as old music to further fill in the atmosphere. This is like the DCA wheel, except instead of Mickey’s face in the center, the Pixar ball is in the center of the wheel.

Here’s just a few of the Pixar pals featured on the gondolas:
  • Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.
  • Flik and Heilmich from A Bug’s Life.
  • Mike and Sully from Monsters, Inc.
  • Lightning McQueen and Mater from Cars.
  • WALL-E and EVE from WALL-E.
  • Russel and Dug from Up.
  • Joy and Sadness from Inside Out.
  • Miguel and Hector from Coco.
