Disney's "Summer to Remember"

Nothing in particular...some people seem to want Spectromagic back, some want new fireworks show, others want "summernightastic" sort of thing..just anything to "pep up" the parks, I suppose, the way Summernightastic was supposed to?

If there is ANY intention of bringing spectro back, they better get a move-on... The parade floats are still in a tent near central shops and haven't moved in months...

They'll need a total refurb and repaint before they could go on stage... and the "summer" starts next month... so, this just doesn't seem likely at this point.. but here's to hoping!

This is precisely why I think we won't see SpectroMagic until AT LEAST this fall...but more likely next year...unless Disney was stupid enough to run it without upgrading it AT ALL.

what are they doing over there? I thought they were sitting in the parade warehouse with the MSEP floats?

there are probably some floats that they pull out occasionally (i.e. the fish) for things like Food & Wine festival and whatnot. i would think keeping them in a less "confined" space would be easier to access them...just my guess. I could be way off.

Ironic that Disneyland, the resort actually receiving tons of new offerings, doesn't yet have a marketing campaign. I suspect out there they're concerned that the offerings that speak for themselves will be more of a draw than the parks can handle...so no marketing campaign is needed.

All valid points... and yet you just know a massive DCA Cars Land marketing campaign is rolling silently towards us.

Al Lutz has said they've got a campaign cooking that will rival the 50th in scale and scope. But it's being aimed mainly at non-Californian western US states and Canadian provinces, plus Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

I just wonder if this new era Disneyland is entering this summer might mean the end of the One Disney marketing slogans and campaigns shared between WDW and Disneyland? Bland, corporate, almost meaningless stuff like Let The Memories Begin or What Will You Celebrate? don't seem to slot into Disneyland's direction or vibe any longer. And why would it, with what they've got on offer now?

All that is worth mentioning because it has to be good news for WDW. It appears to free WDW and TDO to market their own stuff at their own demographics east of the Rockies and in Europe. A little originality and personality wouldn't hurt WDW. They've shown glimmers of it recently with the Orange Bird, although they handled that little guy with such a heavy cross-platform media hand that they nearly crushed him. A gentler touch that showcases WDW's originality and uniqueness would go a long way. And this is the summer they should be able to get away with it!

I really hope WDW announces some crowd draws. They are competing with some decent parks down the road that are both pulling out new things. Disney needs people to stay on property and spend money on property every day of their trips. They lose money when people go spend a day at US/IOA or SW. Repairs would go a long way but new attractions, even minor ones, would be beneficial.

And PLEASE bring back Spectro! lol.

So wait, are they really announcing a summer promotion Friday?

If so, If Spectro does not get annoucnced I would love to see Magic Music and Mayhem (Summer Nightastic Fireworks) Return! Awesome show!

And yes WDW would be stupid enough to return Spectro unupgraded! haha.

"Lets Go To Disney's Summer To Remember!" or could change it up to "Its A Disney Summer To Remember!" hahaha. Have to admit the Summer Nightastic song was cute :)

1992=20 new things to do at WDW
2012=104 things to do(105 if you sell your soul to social media)

How far we've come

As of right now there are a couple surprises planned to be announced for this media presentation. Unfortunately none of them include DHS.
Care to elaborate?

Looks like this will be a summer campaign tied into Phineas and Ferb, specifically the "104 Summer Must-Do's at Disney Parks"

:brick: This makes me think there isn't really much to look forward to getting announced. Just re-hashing of stuff we already know.

And for you SpectroMagic fans, I read this sentence on DisneyTouristBlog...I'm not sure how accurate or reputable that website is...

"It is fully expected that SpectroMagic! will return at some point in the near future, but when is unknown. SpectroMagic will not return for Summer 2012."

In other news, Tokyo Disneyland announced plans for their 30th celebration-a year in advance.

Think EPCOT 30 will get a whisper in the next 48?

Thanks for the heads up on TDR. Found the information and it looks interesting. My guess is that Tokyo is underselling it, and the "Happiness Year" will actually be pretty cool...

As for EPCOT's 30th...I'm betting it's not mentioned.
